Chapter 17 — Bridge Yard Beats

After the historic victory in the semi-finals, the whole team had a day of rest before entering the final. No longer under the pressure of an Olympic ticket, Vy and Long competed in the final with a much more comfortable mindset, seeing this as an opportunity to test new strategies and accumulate more experience before entering the real Olympic arena.

The opponents in the final were a veteran pair from Malaysia, multiple-time regional champions in the past. Although no longer under pressure about the results, Vy and Long still competed with a serious spirit and high determination, not wanting to miss the opportunity to win another meaningful title before ending this impressive qualifying journey.

The match was as dramatic as the semi-finals, both sides demonstrated high levels of expertise, beautiful shots were continuously launched, making the audience constantly admire. Finally, after three tough sets, the Vietnamese couple won the final round, officially crowned regional champions.

"We just won the regional championship!" Vy screamed with excitement when the match ended, hugging Long in extreme happiness.

"A great title to end the qualifying journey," Long replied, his beaming smile undisguised. "But I think this is just the beginning of the bigger challenges that await at the Olympics."

The award ceremony took place solemnly, witnessed by representatives of the regional badminton federation and a large number of international media. Vy and Long stood on the highest podium, receiving the gold medal and championship trophy, the camera lens continuously flashing to record this historic moment.

"We used to be rivals on the singles court," Vy added, a warm smile on her lips. "But perhaps, it is the contrast in personality and playing style that makes us complement each other perfectly, both on the field and in life."

The press conference continued with many questions surrounding preparation plans for the upcoming Olympics, as well as the couple's future plans. Coach Kiet, sitting in the back row, could not hide his satisfied smile at the way both students handled unexpected situations skillfully and maturely.

After the press conference, when returning to the hotel, Vy couldn't help but worry about the public's reaction to the information that had just been made public. "How do you think people will react?" she asked Long while they both sat and rested in the hotel waiting room.

"I think we need to start the research now, without delay," she said, her voice filled with determination. "You can't be subjective just because you won a ticket to attend."

"That is exactly the spirit I want to see in you guys," Coach Kiet nodded in agreement, his eyes filled with satisfaction at the serious, progressive attitude of both students that he was always proud of.

The next morning, before leaving to return home, the whole group spent time visiting a few famous tourist destinations near the tournament area, as a small reward for their tireless efforts over the past time. Vy and Long took advantage of this rare time to walk together and enjoy the comfortable atmosphere after a series of stressful competition days.

"I still don't feel like I'm dreaming," Vy said, looking at the strange but beautiful scenery around her. "Just a few months ago, I was a singles athlete skeptical about my ability to adapt to the doubles event. Now, I am a regional champion, preparing to enter the Olympic arena."

"Life sometimes brings the best surprises when we least expect it," Long replied, holding her hand tightly. "And I'm truly grateful, for the precious opportunity to experience this wonderful journey with you."
