Chapter 4 — Final Record

Chu Duc Hai's eyes made the whole living room feel like it was falling to freezing temperature, so cold that no one dared to breathe loudly. Ly Mai unconsciously took a step back, ducked behind Chu Van Phong, and with a trembling voice asked him what he meant. Chu Van Phong frowned, tried to stay calm, and said not to scare her, as if everything could still be controlled.

“Threatened?” Chu Duc Hai laughed coldly, threw the phone on the table, his voice was as sharp as a knife, telling him to look away.

Chu Van Phong picked it up, looked at it for just a second, his face immediately turned white, and he turned around to look at Ly Mai as if he had never known her.

“You… you're pregnant?”

Ly Mai avoided eye contact, finally nodded, a small movement but enough to make the atmosphere vibrate. Vuong Thuc Lan immediately jumped up from the sofa, as if being pulled out of an abyss, his voice cracking with excitement.

"Pregnant? Really? Oh my god, our Chu family is about to have a grandson!"

She rushed forward to hold Ly Mai's hand, as if everything before was no longer important. Chu Duc Hai slammed on the table, the sound made everyone stiffen, his eyes turned red with anger.

“Have grandchildren?” He pointed straight at Ly Mai, his voice trembling, "You're the kind of person who gets traded using the company's dirty books!"

“Are you the kind of kid who puts our whole family in jail!”

Vuong Thuc Lan was dumbfounded, could not understand what he was saying, could only look at her husband with panicked eyes. Chu Duc Hai turned to Chu Van Phong, each word felt like it was hitting the ground, and asked directly where that $500,000 came from. That number was like a bomb exploding in the living room, everyone's faces collapsed at the same time. Chu Van Phong grabbed Ly Mai's shoulders, shook her hard, forcing her to tell the truth, her voice almost out of control. Chu Van Ban cowered like an animal cornered, Vuong Thuc Lan opened his mouth unable to speak, and Chu Duc Hai began to tremble uncontrollably. It was no longer anger, but fear of having it all overturned. He still thought the notebook was my revenge, but he didn't expect... the fire would flare up in his own family first. Chu Van Phong suddenly screamed, a slap hit Ly Mai in the face, the resounding sound seemed to cut off everything.
