Chapter 6
Chapter 6 — Final Record
The next day, the Chu group's shares suddenly plummeted, hitting bottom less than half an hour after opening, shocking the entire market. Immediately after that, a series of rumors spread wildly in the financial world, from the books being investigated to the story of Chu Duc Hai being called up to work, all like knives stabbing straight into the market's trust. Rumors are the sharpest knife, each blow hits a dangerous spot, panic spreads like an epidemic, investors sell out, banks call in droves, partners come to demand money. When the wall fell, everyone wanted to add another foot, and in just one day, the Chu family fell into a state of complete chaos, without any support. As for me, sitting in the high-floor apartment of the postpartum care center, looking at the traffic on the street like a strange movie, so calm that I was even surprised. This place is a place I booked with my mother's money a long time ago, and that house... last night they all moved out, leaving it clean as if it never existed. When Vuong Thuc Lan left, he still wanted to cause trouble, but Chu Duc Hai slapped him until he was speechless, because at the end of the line, no one had time to act anymore. I asked a lawyer to handle the sale of the house, completely cutting off all connections, such as removing a necrotic part from my body. The phone rang, it was Chu Van Ban. I picked up the phone. His voice on the other end was full of fatigue and despair, like someone standing on the brink.
"Tinh Tinh, stop, consider me begging you... the company is about to collapse, the house is also ruined, do you really want to see us go to jail?"
I didn't say anything, just quietly listened to every word, like listening to a stranger.
“That book, you name the price, I will pay any amount, as long as you give it back to me…”
I laughed, a light but cold smile.
“Chu Van Ban, do you… have money left now?”
The other end of the line was silent. That's right, there's nothing left of him, his accounts are frozen, his assets are mortgaged, and he's only left with an empty name.
"We were husband and wife, and there was An An... can you leave your child without a father?"
He used the emotional card again, something he should have used a long time ago.
“Chu Van Ban,” I interrupted, my voice calm and cruel, “when I was bleeding and needed someone to sign the papers and you were with another woman…”
"When my mother brought life-saving medicine, you still felt it was more important to please others..."
"Then you're no longer my husband, and An An... doesn't need a father like you."
I paused for a beat, then continued.
“And the notebook… is no longer with me.”
Chu Van Ban's voice immediately broke, he lost control in panic, repeatedly asking who I gave it to. I didn't answer, hung up directly, then dragged all of his contacts to the block list. The game... enters a new round. I called lawyer Truong and asked about Ly Mai's situation, and the answer did not surprise me at all. After something happened to the Chu family, Ly Mai was afraid of being implicated so she secretly went to the hospital to have an abortion, but was stopped right there by Chu Van Phong, the two argued until the sky broke loose. Currently, Chu Van Phong has locked her in the hotel, not allowing her to go out, as if holding the last trump card. I nodded, everything was as expected, how could a selfish person like him exist cannot let go of this "ordered child", especially when it is the only hope to turn the situation around.
“Lawyer Truong, do me a favor.”
“You say it.”
"Anonymously sent a hot news story to several major newsrooms, with the content being 'a famous businessman embezzled public funds for the sake of children and even kept his wife under house arrest'."
“Remember to include the hotel address and room number.”
He paused for a second, then immediately understood, his voice carrying clear interest.
“I see, an incident that has both ethical, legal and scandalous elements... the press will not ignore it.”
I hung up the phone and looked out the window. The sun was setting, dyeing the sky red like blood, so beautiful it was terrifying. The Chu family's play... is reaching its climax. As for me, I'm the only one writing the script.
