Chapter 11
Chapter 11 — From Grandmother to Capitalist Queen
“Lam Tri Y,” she said to herself, “Are you ready?”
The woman in the mirror nodded. * Chapter 3: Face-to-face confrontation At 2 o'clock the next afternoon, Lam Tri Y appeared on time in the lobby of the Dinh Xuyen Group building. Today she wore a dark gray suit — not a feminine waist-cinching style, but a clean cut, designed almost like a men's suit. Inside, he wore a black turtleneck sweater, his hair tied in a low ponytail, revealing his sharp, clean facial features. No makeup, but lipstick — still pure red lipstick. She entered the lobby, the receptionist girl saw her, her expression clearly stiffened.
“The late lady—”
“Call me Ms. Lam.” She smiled and corrected, "Or boss Lam. The matter between me and President Co has nothing to do with you guys. No need to stress."
The receptionist breathed a sigh of relief and quickly said: "Boss Lam, Mr. Co is waiting for you on the twenty-eighth floor. Let me swipe your card for you."
“Thank you.”
Before the elevator door closed, Lam Tri Y saw several employees in the lobby whispering in her ear, their eyes gliding towards her. She calmly smiled at them, then pressed the close button. The elevator goes up. The twenty-eighth floor is Co Dinh Xuyen's office area. The entire floor was his domain — the Chairman's office, meeting room, secretary's room, and a private reception room. The elevator door opened, Co Dinh Xuyen's secretary Tieu Tran stood at the door to welcome her. Tieu Tran is a man in his thirties. He has followed Co Dinh Xuyen for five years and works skillfully and thoroughly.
"Boss Lam, please come this way. Mr. Co is waiting in the reception room."
"Tieu Tran," Lam Tri Y said as he walked, "You have followed President Co for five years, you must know a lot of things. I won't make it difficult for you, but there is something I want to ask you."
“Just say it.”
“When To Van Tinh came to work, who was the interviewer?”
Tieu Tran's footsteps paused for a moment, then continued walking.
“It was the President himself who interviewed him.”
“Who filters the resumes?”
“This... was chosen by the President himself from the list of candidates introduced by the headhunter.”
“Meaning, the Human Resources department does not participate in the pre-qualification?”
Tieu Tran was silent for two seconds: "Yes, that's right." Lam Tri Y nodded and did not ask further. The reception room door was pushed open, Co Dinh Xuyen was sitting on the sofa. Today he didn't wear a vest, just a white shirt, the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, revealing the strong muscles on his forearms. His condition didn't look good - his eyes were bloodshot, his chin had a green beard, his shirt collar was slightly creased. Seeing Lam Tri Y enter, he stood up, his eyes stopped on her face for a moment.
“I'm here.”
“I'm here.” Lam Tri Y sat down on the opposite sofa, placed her bag next to her, her posture relaxed as if she was drinking afternoon tea.
Tieu Tran brought two cups of coffee in, then withdrew and closed the door. The room fell silent, except for the low hum of the air conditioning system. The two sat facing each other, in the middle of a marble tea table. On the table was a white folder with no words written on it. Co Dinh Xuyen spoke first.
“What happened last night, you did too much.”
“What story?” Lam Tri Y raised her coffee cup and blew softly, "Is it about exposing your adultery in front of three hundred people, or is it about announcing your divorce in front of a crowd?"
Co Dinh Xuyen's temples twitched.
“Tri Y, let's get married seven years together. Have you treated me badly in the past seven years? Ban Son Nhat Hieu Villa is in my name, I have never limited your card, you can do whatever you want — I have given you the greatest freedom.”
“The greatest freedom?” Lam Tri Y put down the coffee cup and repeated that phrase, as if chewing a moldy macadamia nut, "Co Dinh Xuyen, the freedom you give me is the freedom in a cage. No matter how big or beautiful the cage is, it is still a cage.”
“I—”
