Chapter 19
Chapter 19 — From Grandmother to Capitalist Queen
“I… I really like Dinh Xuyen.” Tears fell from To Van Tinh's eyes, "Not for the reasons you think. Not because of his money, not because of his status — I really like him."
Lam Tri Y looked at her crying. Looking at the woman who was pregnant with her husband's child, standing in front of her, tears streaming down her face, talking about "true love". She suddenly felt extremely tired. Not physical fatigue, but a boredom from deep within the soul. She was sick of these bloody details, sick of these cheap sentiments, sick of this insanely obscene "tear-filled little boy talking about true love" motif.
“Director To,” she said, her voice as quiet as a puddle of stagnant water, “whether you really like him or not has nothing to do with me.”
To Van Tinh's cry was choked.
"You have your feelings, he has his choices. Those things are not within my scope of management." Lam Tri Y said, "I only care about one thing - the interests of Dinh Xuyen Group. You work as PR Director at the company, receive a company salary, drive a company car. As long as you show that your work is not a problem, I will not make things difficult for you out of personal vendetta."
She stopped for a moment.
“But if your existence affects the company's interests — regardless of whether you 'really like him' or not — I will make a distinction.”
To Van Tinh's face turned pale.
“What… what do you mean?”
“I mean—” Lam Tri Y took a step forward, bowed slightly, looked straight into To Van Tinh's eyes, “I already know about the relationship between you and Tham Nhat Minh of Dinh Huy Capital.”
To Van Tinh's pupils suddenly dilated, the blood on her face instantly drained away. Her lips moved, emitting a series of broken sounds: "You... why you..."
“It doesn't matter how I know.” Lam Tri Y stood up straight, "The important thing is - Co Dinh Xuyen also knows."
To Van Tinh's body began to tremble, the liquid in the coffee cup spilled out, falling onto her ivory white wool dress, stained with a dark brown stain.
“No… no way…”
“Go see his attitude yourself and you'll know.” Lam Tri Y stepped back, opening the distance, "This morning when signing the agreement, he gave a condition - requiring you to quit your job before the end of the month."
To Van Tinh suddenly looked up, his eyes filled with disbelief.
“You… he wants to fire me?”
“It's not a firing. It's an 'amicable severance agreement'. He'll give you three months' compensation, along with a letter of recommendation.” Lam Tri Y's voice was unwavering, "He doesn't want to let a woman involved with a competitor continue to stay at the company. That's a basic commercial safety consideration."
To Van Tinh's legs went weak, her whole body leaned against the wall and then slowly slid to the ground. The coffee cup fell and the water flowed freely.
“How could he… he said he liked me… he said he would divorce me and marry me…”
Lam Tri Y looked down at To Van Tinh who was sitting on the ground, his eyes complicated. She should hate this woman. It was this woman who intervened in her marriage, shattering her seven-year life. But right now, looking at her slumped on the ground collapsing, Lam Tri Y realized she couldn't hate her. It's not because she's wide quantity. But because - To Van Tinh is too pitiful. A woman was used by her old lover, abandoned by her new lover, carrying a child, sitting alone on the floor, unable to even hold a cup of coffee. She is not a winner. She's not even a player. She's just a pawn. A chess piece was placed on the chessboard by Dinh Huy Capital, used and then thrown away.
