Chapter 9
Chapter 9 — Great Lady of Cleanliness
He said he had resigned from all his positions and would only be my personal doctor from now on. I told someone to turn off the surveillance camera screen. On the seventh day, the Citadel poured heavy rain. The three brothers stood in front of the manor's gate, standing from dusk until dawn. Luc Canh Hanh took the warm water and walked to my side.
“Really no see?”
I looked at three silhouettes of people drenched by the rain outside the window.
“Meet.”
“Anyway, we have to dispose of the trash thoroughly.”
When I took the umbrella out, Ky Hoai Chau almost stumbled forward.
“Chi Chi!”
His whole body was wet, his lips were white. In my hand I held the watch box tightly.
“Mom's watch has been repaired.”
"I know you can't fix my heart."
“But can you give me a chance to make up for it?”
I bowed my head and looked at the box.
“Ky Hoai Chau.”
“After my mother died, I promised her that I would protect me.”
His eye sockets immediately turned red.
“I remember.”
“But you handed me over to someone who would harm me.”
“You opened the door yourself and let a crazy dog destroy all my sense of security.”
Ky Hoai Chau's face turned pale.
"You're wrong..."
I interrupted him.
“That's wrong, it's not a universal passport.”
“Broken watches can be repaired.”
“Once trust is broken, it's gone.”
Ky Lam Xuyen took a step forward, his voice was so hoarse it was almost inaudible.
“Chi Chi, brother has thoroughly investigated all accounts spreading fake news online.”
“Of those who scolded you, I will not ignore anyone.”
"As for Ton Chieu De, I will make her pay the most miserable price."
I looked at him.
“Ky Lam Xuyen.”
“The day I suffered cyber violence, you called me and said I wasn't bad, I had just changed.”
“Do you remember?”
His whole body stiffened. Rainwater flowed down his face, unable to tell whether it was rain or tears.
“I remember.”
“So what do you want to prove now by doing these things?”
“Proof that you finally remembered that you are a lawyer?”
“Or prove how stupid you were when you scolded me?”
Ky Lam Xuyen's lips trembled, he bowed his head.
“Chi Chi, I don't ask you to forgive me immediately.”
“Give me time, okay?”
“No way.”
I responded very quickly. He looked like he had been whipped, his face was pale. Ky Thinh Lan finally spoke up. His voice was more broken than the sound of rain.
“Chi Chi, you proactively asked to revoke your certificate to practice as a psychologist.”
"You don't deserve to be a doctor anymore."
"Not worthy of being your brother."
I calmly looked at him.
"You really don't deserve it."
His tears suddenly fell.
“I know.”
“I just want… want to take care of you.”
“My illness requires a long-term stable environment.”
“I bought all the real estate around the old house, from now on no strangers will come near.”
“Your water, your air, all your safety standards, I will reset…”
“No need anymore.”
I interrupted him.
“After leaving you guys, I haven't gotten sick for a long time.”
Three people stiffened at the same time. I said leisurely:
“It turns out that my biggest allergy source is not strangers, not dust, not ordinary water.”
“It's you guys.”
The sound of rain suddenly became louder. Ky Thinh Lan's whole body staggered as if about to fall. Ky Hoai Chau asked with red eyes:
“Chi Chi, do you really not need a brother anymore?”
“We are siblings but."
“Siblings?”
I laugh.
“When you guys pinned me down on the bed and injected the sedative, why didn't you think we were siblings?”
“When my three-year passion was destroyed, you guys told me to redraw, why don't you think we are siblings?”
“When Tong Noan Noan looked at me like a crazy person and provoked me, you guys stood in front of her to protect her, why didn't you think we were siblings?”
I took out a document from my pocket and threw it into the puddle at their feet.
“This is a declaration of severance of relations.”
“I have signed.”
“The future prosperity and decline of the Ky family has nothing to do with me.”
“Your life or death has nothing to do with me.”
Ky Hoai Chau bent down like crazy to pick up the documents. The paper was wet from the rain, but the writing was still clear. His hands were shaking so much he could barely hold them.
“You didn't sign.”
“Chi Chi, I didn't sign!”
I turned around and left.
“Sign it or not, it's up to you.”
“In my heart, you guys are dead.”
From behind came Ky Lam Xuyen's extremely suppressed cry. Ky Thinh Lan called my name until her voice was hoarse. I didn't stop for even a single step. Luc Canh Hanh stood in the door waiting for me. He took the umbrella from my hand and put a clean shirt on me.
“Are you cold?”
“Not cold.”
I turned my head to look at the three people struggling unbearably in the rain.
“It just feels like the air is finally clean.”

Half a year later, I won the gold prize at the International Youth Art Exhibition in Paris. The winning work is called "Broken Heart". In the center of the exhibition room is a giant pocket watch patched with gold thread. The watch face has no hands. There were only countless broken pieces of mirror, reflecting the faces of each audience member. The media asked me why I chose such a topic. I smiled at the camera.
“Because there are cracks that don't need to be erased.”
“Its existence is the answer.”
After the awards ceremony, Luc Canh Hanh waited for me backstage. In his hand he still held a glass of warm water. On the body of the cup, there is an inspection stamp. I took it and couldn't help but laugh.
“General Manager Luc, don't you mind?”
He lowered his eyes and looked at me.
“Don't mind.”
“Liking someone should inherently respect that person's boundaries.”
My hand holding the glass of water stopped. He took a step closer, but still stopped at a distance I could accept.
“Ky Van Chi.”
“You help me take revenge, and also help me regain the right to name the work.”
“Can I ask for some compensation now?”
I raised my eyebrows.
“What does General Director Luc want?”
He smiled softly.
“An attitude that pursues you.”
