Chapter 9
Chapter 9 — Married 8 days, I bought a house in my own name
He bowed his head:
“I accept.”
I continue.
“The story about your father using General Luc to inquire about your work situation… do you know?”
He immediately raised his head. The surprise on his face was very real.
“Hua Dai Thanh and Luc Binh are college friends.”
I said calmly.
"My father asked Mr. Luc to pay attention to your recent work status."
“I… I really don't know.”
His voice was hoarse.
“His father…”
“I know you probably don't know.”
I interrupted.
“But this has already happened.”
He clasped the chopsticks in his hand and said nothing. I looked straight at him.
“Now tell me your choice.”
“I won't return the apartment.”
“That is my final limit.”
“And that wedding house…”
“If the Hua family still doesn't want to add my name, I have no way to pretend like this doesn't exist to continue living.”
He raised his head to look at me. There was real confusion in his eyes.
“So what should we do?”
“I went back to talk to my father one last time.”
I replied slowly.
“If he agrees to add your name, we can continue.”
“Other problems can be gradually resolved.”
“And if he doesn't agree…”
I stopped for a second.
“Then let's go file for divorce.”
He repeated those two words as if he heard them for the first time.
“Thieu Hoa, we just got married…”
“I know how long we've been married.”
I looked at him.
“Because it's still too short... there's still time now.”
He looked at me, his eyes gradually turning red. I know he really has feelings for me. That love was never fake. Just the unconditional acceptance for his father... that's also real.
“I give you three days.”
“Three days later, give me the answer.”
He nodded. Say nothing more. I called the waiter to pay, stood up and picked up my bag. When I reached the door of the shop, I turned around to look back. He's still sitting there. Immobility. I pushed the door open and walked out. The night wind carries steam from the Cam River. It's a bit cold. But also very clean. The phone rings. It was Ninh Giai calling.
“We're done talking.”
“Wait three more days.”
“Ninh Giai, I want to ask you something.”
“If we really get to that point, then my apartment…”
“There is absolutely no problem with your apartment.”
Ninh Giai immediately said.
“The money was given to you by your parents before marriage.”
“Go through your personal account.”
“The house is also in your name.”
“All have clear evidence.”
“No one can get it.”
“That's good.”
I replied softly.
“Thieu Hoa.”
Ninh Giai suddenly stopped for a moment.
“There's one more thing.”
"Have you ever thought about Hua Dai Thanh asking about your work situation through Luc Binh... is there another reason behind it?"
I stopped on the side of the road.
“What do you mean?”
“I have acquaintances in the merchant guild, I know people from Hua Dai Thanh's side.”
“I asked this afternoon.”
“He used to make construction materials, but in the last two years… the company under his name…”
Speaking of this, the other end of the line suddenly heard a noise. It was like someone pushed the door open and interrupted the conversation.
“Wait a minute.”
Ninh Giai said. I heard a vague voice on the other end. Then Ninh Giai's voice rang out again. But this time was different. Be much more careful.
“Thieu Hoa.”
She lowered her voice.
“I will talk to you again tomorrow.”
"Today inconvenient.”
“But there is one thing you must remember.”
“The matter of the Hua family… you are not the only one who cares.”
“There are others watching them.”
I frowned:
“Who?”
"Tomorrow."
Ninh Giai spoke very quickly. The call was suddenly interrupted. I stood in the middle of the night wind, staring at the ended call interface. Something is spinning very quickly in my head. But it's impossible to grasp. Someone is watching the Hua family. Not me. But someone else. Who exactly is... watching Hua Dai Thanh?
