Chapter 18 — Mystery At 3 A.M

Khuong Hoa suddenly said.

“She only came once when she was young, so how could she have the key?”

Dong Dien raised his hand to strangle her. An An immediately said.

“The lock doesn't open like that.”

Dong Dien's hand stopped in midair. An An squatted and looked under the iron door. There is a piece of loose cement there. When I was a child and hid here, my grandmother didn't use the key to open the door. Before carrying the baby out, her toes used to kick at this position. An An raised her hand to pry the cement gap. The nail immediately cracked and was so painful that her eyes turned white. Khuong Hoa quickly said.

“Stop prying.”

An An did not stop. She hid her cracked nails in her palm and continued to use force. After the cement block loosened, a thin piece of iron wire was revealed inside. The bank employee tried to rob it. But Dong Dien stopped her.

“Let him do it.”

An An put the iron wire into the lock. Actually, she doesn't know how to open the lock. But he remembers that year his grandmother did not open the lock. Which is pushing a latch inside. Iron wire pushed to the left. There is no movement. She changed the angle and pressed down. A very soft sound rang out in the lock. The old lock opens. The bank employee's eyes lit up. But Dong Dien did not immediately push the door. He pulled Khuong Hoa in front of him.

“You go inside.”

Khuong Hoa looked at An An. An An shook her head slightly. She saw that next to the iron door there was an extremely thin transparent string. The wire went from the door frame into the wall. If Khuong Hoa pushes the door, the rope will definitely be pulled. Inside is not the entrance. An An suddenly raised her hand and pointed to a row of film clips on the wall.

“Not this door.”

Dong Dien's face darkened.

“Are you kidding me?”

An An looked at him.

“Grandma used to say children can't go in there, otherwise they'll get lost.”

“Places where people get lost won't have locks.”

“The lock is something for outsiders to see.”

The photo studio was as quiet as death. Dong Dien slowly turned his head and looked at the row of rusty film clips. The film hanging clips are fixed on an iron bar. One end of the iron bar is sunk into the wall. The other end hangs down from an old zipper. An An walked over and reached out to grab the zipper. Her palms were all sweaty. She didn't know what would happen after pulling it down. But he knew Dong Dien was about to lose patience. The child pulled hard. The iron bar made a harsh friction sound. The back wall of the dark room slowly opened into a narrow slit. A damp wind blew from the crack in the wall. There is an earthy smell in the wind. There is also a very faint smoke smell. Finally Dong Dien burst out laughing.

“Found it.”

But in the next second, a soft sound rang out inside the crack in the wall. It was like someone inside slowly stepped on a small stone. Behind the underground door is someone. This time, it wasn't just An An who heard it. Dong Dien also heard it. His smile immediately disappeared. The bank employee took a step back in fear. Khuong Hoa took advantage of that half second and suddenly used her shoulder to stab Dong Dien's wrist. The thin rope in his hand was bumped. An An saw the right opportunity, rushed to hug Khuong Hoa's waist, and pulled her to the other side of the dark room. But Khuong Hoa's legs were still soft. They could only move less than two steps. Dong Dien immediately grabbed Khuong Hoa's hair and yanked her back. Khuong Hoa was in so much pain that she let out a groan. An An's eyes immediately turned red. The girl was holding a plastic bucket on the ground and threw it at him. The black chemical substance left in the barrel splashed on half of Dong Dien's body. Dong Dien tilted his head to avoid it but still got a few drops on his face. He cursed softly, raised his foot and kicked An An down. An An's back hit the counter, causing so much pain that her eyes went black. But the sound of footsteps behind the underground door did not come close. It stopped behind the door. Like waiting. Dong Dien used his sleeve to wipe his face, his eyes gloomy.

“Dian Minh Vien.”

“Your people came in really quickly.”

Inside the underground door, no one answered. There was only the sound of very soft breathing. An An was lying on the ground and suddenly smelled a smell. So sweet it's sickening, a little sour. Orange candy is broken. The child's whole body stiffened. Not Captain Dien's people. It was the man coughing. Or more accurately, the person who actually kicked the door. Dong Dien also understood. His face was even more unsightly than before.

“Why are you here?”

The person in the underground door finally coughed. The coughing got worse over the phone, like the chest was filled with old ash.

“Mr. Dong.”

“Boss Luong asked me to come and see if he was going to take all the things by himself.”

Dong Dien smiled coldly.

“He himself didn't dare to come, so he sent a dog?”

The man walked out of the underground door. He is very tall. Wear a long black coat. The brim of the hat is pulled very low. The right hand is gloved, the pinky finger position is still perfect. An An stared at his hand. Last time he said he had a piece of his pinky finger amputated, that was a false clue. This time, he was even too lazy to continue pretending. The man in black looked at An An.
