Chapter 5
Chapter 5 — Please Don't Take Three Steps Back
He stood there, staring at Ha Nam's arm holding me. At that moment, the light in his eyes completely went out. I panicked inside.
“Luc Van Chu…”
He turned and left. I was about to chase, but Ha Nam inhaled in pain. On one side was a colleague who was twisting his leg, on the other side was Luc Van Chu who suddenly appeared and left. I gritted my teeth to help Ha Nam get into the car. When he returned to the bureau, Luc Van Chu's office light was turned off. On the table is a new roll of gauze. Next to it there is also a note. Elegant handwriting.
“Don't touch water on the wound.”
I looked at those words for a long time. Chest tightness. The next day, my transfer application was finally approved. Old Chu said: "You transfer to offline team number 2, temporarily working as a partner with Ha Nam." I nodded: “Yes.” But as soon as I finished putting things on the table, the door to the forensic room suddenly opened. Luc Van Chu stood at the door, his eyes streaked with blood. He looked at the cardboard box I was holding in front of my chest, his voice was hoarse, almost soundless.
“Tham Tri, you want to go again?”
5 I hugged the cardboard box, like a deserter caught in the act. The office was eerily quiet. Tieu Trieu quietly hid her head behind the computer screen, Ha Nam stood at the door, the smile on his face also disappeared. I tried to act calm: "Just dispatching work, not leaving." Luc Van Chu walked towards me step by step. Today he is not wearing a mask. Also do not hold an antiseptic spray bottle. This look was even scarier than him suddenly pulling out a gun. I stepped back: "Luc Van Chu, calm down." He stopped in front of me, staring at the cardboard box in my hand. Inside were a drinking cup, a notebook, a few packets of instant coffee, and a box of mints that had not yet been given away. That's the box of candy I bought for him before. His voice was very soft: "Are these things no longer needed?" My throat choked: "No need anymore." He laughed. A very unsightly smile.
“Including me?”
I did not answer. Because I'm afraid that if I open my mouth, it will be exposed. Luc Van Chu suddenly reached out, grabbed the carton from my hand, and placed it firmly on the table next to me. Then he grabbed my wrist tightly and pulled me straight towards the forensic room.
“Luc Van Chu!”
I struggled and couldn't get out. His strength is unusually great. Colleagues around were stunned. Ha Nam was about to stop, but Luc Van Chu turned his head to look at him. His eyes were cold.
“This is about me and him.”
Ha Nam spread his hands: "Okay, you two, let's talk, don't do anything." Luc Van Chu paid no attention to him. The forensic room door slammed shut. My back was pressed tightly against the operating table, my heartbeat was beating absurdly fast. This place is usually deathly cold, the lights are pale white, and the tools are neatly arranged. But at this moment, Luc Van Chu stood in front of me, his eyes red, his breathing disordered. I suddenly felt like the whole room was heating up.
“What do you really want to do?”
He looked down at me: "Why don't you always listen to me?"
“I gave you a chance.”
“No.” He said each word, "You didn't."
I burst out laughing: "That night when I confessed my love, you backed away faster than the suspect ran away. Now you tell me I didn't give you a chance?" Luc Van Chu's fingers trembled.
“I backed off not because hate you.”
“So what for?”
He was silent. Here we go again. It's always like that, half said, the rest left me guessing. My eyes stung and I pushed him away: "Luc Van Chu, can you stop torturing others?" He was pushed back half a step by me. The next second, he suddenly pulled off his mask, bowed his head and kissed her. My mind exploded.
