Chapter 19
Chapter 19 — Pointed Hat Class Contest
“Exam room six, number twenty-three.” The girl walked in holding the exam card. The next person is So Hanh. He brought out the papers. The supervisor also checks the same. “Third exam room, number twelve.” Same position on inter-school exam day. So Hanh received the exam card but said nothing. As he passed me, he stopped. “Vice Principal Van.” “This time I will still compete for first place.” I nodded. “Exam well.” It seemed he didn't expect me to answer like that. “Aren't you worried?” “What are you worried about?” “You are still first class.” “It's normal for first class to be written on the first line of the transcript.” I looked at him. “Just don't write on the school rules.” The exam bell rang. All students enter the room on time. The hallway quickly emptied. No one blocked the door. No one asks others to give way to them. No one automatically backed up against the wall because the top student in the whole school came forward. I stood outside the exam room and heard the sound of questions being flipped inside. This school is still first class. There is also still the last rank. Some people will improve. Some people will regress. Some people are dazzlingly intelligent. There are also people who try their best and can only get one more multiple choice question correct. Those things are okay. The scoreboard inherently has high and low scores. But the exam room door should be equally wide.
