Chapter 6
Chapter 6 — Reciting Remembrance Find Mother
Old and new grudges surfaced at the same time. My daughter's injuries, my injustice, five years in prison... All patience completely collapsed in this moment! Lam Tinh was beaten by me until his nose and mouth bled, his makeup was smeared, he looked extremely harmful. She screamed and struggled.
"Co Dao! Do you believe I sent you to prison for another ten years!"
I picked up the cup of tea I had just brewed on the table and without hesitation splashed it right in her face!
“Ah!”
Lam Tinh let out a fierce scream like a pig being pricked, burned to the point of falling off the chair. I pointed to the door, my voice cold as ice.
“Get out!”
Lam Tinh covered his face and stared at me in disbelief. She suddenly burst into laughter, a sharp, shrill laugh.
“Co Dao, do you think I'm still the little nanny from before?”
She waved her hand, and the driver and bodyguard behind her immediately rushed forward.
“Strip her clothes off and throw them on the street for me!”
“Destroy this ragged shop!”
“I can't pay!”
The bodyguard approached and raised his hand to shake me. I took a step back, bumped into the tea stand, and the porcelain dishes fell and clattered all over the ground.
“Let me see who dares!”
There was a cold shout outside the door. Giang Dien Xuyen stood there, his face pale. Niem Niem crawled out from behind him, ran to hug me.
"Bad woman! Don't bully my mother!"
She hugged my leg tightly, turned her head and glared at Lam Tinh angrily. Lam Tinh's face immediately turned pale: "Dien Xuyen... Listen to my explanation..." She stammered, pointing to her wet suit.
“It was she who bullied me and threw tea on me!”
Niem Niem immediately shouted.
"Not!"
“Apparently you said that many uncles like that bully my mother!”
Her small hand held my shirt tightly.
"You and Dad found out the truth that year! It was all because you harmed Mom!"
Lam Tinh's face turned from white to red, his breathing was rapid. She suddenly raised her hand, lost control and rushed towards Niem Niem.
“You little bitch, you talk nonsense!”
I instinctively covered Niem Niem behind my back, closed my eyes and prepared to receive this slap. But the expected pain never appeared. I opened my eyes and saw Giang Dien Xuyen holding Lam Tinh's wrist tightly. He used his strength to push her away.
"Enough!"
Lam Tinh staggered back a few steps and was caught by the bodyguards behind him. Giang Dien Xuyen's cold eyes swept over Lam Tinh and the bodyguards. The bodyguards instinctively let me go and took a few steps back. He walked in front of Lam Tinh, his voice was low but carried pressure that did not allow for rebuttal.
“We just got back from the police station.”
"All surveillance cameras and witness statements on the day of Niem Niem's first birthday party have been collected."
Lam Tinh's eyes began to panic.
“You… What do you mean?”
Giang Dien Xuyen did not answer her but turned to look at me, her eyes complicated.
“The man in black who was present at the scene that year has been found.”
“He admitted that he received your orders and coordinated the performance of that play.”
Giang Dien Xuyen signaled the bodyguard. The bodyguard immediately twisted Lam Tinh's arms and pressed her to the ground. Giang Dien Xuyen turned to me, his eyes red, his voice hoarse.
“Dao Dao, that year I was blinded by hatred.”
"I was provoked by Lam Tinh again so I misunderstood you."
“For the past five years, I've missed you every day.”
He took a step forward, his voice said bring prayers.
“I know it's too late to say these words now……”
“But can you…… forgive me?”
I gently patted Niem Niem who was still trembling inside, raised my head to look at Giang Dien Xuyen, my voice was calm without any ripples.
“I don't blame you.”
A ray of light immediately flashed in Giang Dien Xuyen's eyes.
“At least you protected Niem Niem very well, so that she can grow up healthy and strong.”
“For this alone, I thank you.”
The light in Giang Dien Xuyen's eyes immediately disappeared, and his whole body seemed to be about to collapse. I understand. I don't hate you, which also means I stopped loving you a long time ago. Looking at my calm face, he finally realized. I'm no longer the girl I was many years ago, whenever I encountered a wine I didn't like or something I didn't like, I would make a fuss. I have completely let go of all the things in the past. Giang Dien Xuyen took a deep breath, looked away, and looked disgustedly at Lam Tinh lying on the ground.
“Give it away.”
“Take it straight to the police station.”
The bodyguard pulled Lam Tinh, who was constantly struggling and crying, out of the tea shop. Finally, Giang Dien Xuyen looked at me deeply. In those eyes there was regret, love, and even relief. He held Niem Niem's hand.
“Let's go.”
Niem Niem turned her head and looked at me longingly. I gently smiled at her and waved. The wind chimes on the door vibrated slightly. The shop became quiet again. It seemed like the commotion just now had never happened. After that, Giang Dien Xuyen came every day. Sometimes he brought a bouquet of flowers, sometimes tea, sometimes the small steamed dumplings that I used to like the most. But I never received it. Until a week later, he stood in the rain all night. The next day he had a fever and was helped by the driver to the hospital. Niem Niem cried and pulled the hem of my shirt.
“Mom, Dad really knows he was wrong.”
