Chapter 24
Chapter 24 — Secret Explosive Burning of Cow Dung
That sound was transmitted through the stethoscope, but it seemed to hit me straight in the heart. Luc Van Da grabbed my phone and lowered his voice.
“Don't open the door.”
Lam Van Thu on the other side seemed to be still standing in place without moving. The doorbell rang again. Just then, a man's voice came through the door.
"Miss Lam, the neighborhood group came to deliver the documents."
Lam Van Thu's breathing became more panicked. She said softly: "I never called the neighborhood group." Luc Van Da immediately turned to Tham Kieu.
“Report the location to the police.”
Tham Kieu was already dialing the number, his face pale and bloodless. The program staff was also a mess. I reached out to get my phone back. But Luc Van Da avoided it.
“Van Duong, don't say anything first.”
I glared at him.
“That's my mother.”
These two words burst out of my mouth, and I was stunned. I have never called Lam Van Thu like that before. But at this moment, I don't have any other thoughts in my mind. She has been looking for me for more than twenty years. She called me Duong An on the phone. She could be standing behind the door, blocked by a strange man. Luc Van Da looked at me, his eyes darkened, then returned the phone to my hand. I shouted into the receiver: "Lam Van Thu, don't be afraid."
“Now put your phone in your pocket.”
“Come to the window.”
“Don't go near the main door.”
The other end of the line heard the sound of fabric rubbing and rustling. The person outside the door knocked again.
“Miss Lam?”
“We know you're home.”
As soon as this sentence was uttered, all disguises were stripped away. Lam Van Thu's voice trembled.
“Duong An, mother's house is on the 27th floor.”
"You can't go out from the window either."
My mind moves at breakneck speed.
“Is there anything in the house that can block the door?”
“Dining table.”
“Flower shelf.”
“Cabinet.”
I screamed: “Put it all out there.” She obediently followed. On the other side echoed the sound of heavy furniture sliding on the floor. The man outside the door was clearly impatient.
"Lam Van Thu, if you don't drink the wine you want, you want to drink the wine as punishment!"
“Hand the things over here, everything will be easily resolved!”
I stopped.
“What does he want?”
Lam Van Thu gasped: "I don't know." Luc Van Da suddenly asked: "Do you keep any original copies in your hand?" The other end of the line was silent for a split second. Lam Van Thu said: "Yes." My heart was shocked.
“What original?”
Her voice was very soft.
“The paper to find someone who got wet in the rain in the past, there is more than just one piece of paper.”
“Mom also kept one.”
"There's also the bracelet when the mother gave birth."
“And a photo of your foot print too.”
Bach Nhiem was crying in the livestream. But after the programming team transferred our scene to the main stream, the sound on her side also echoed. Hearing Lam Van Thu's words, her face changed dramatically.
“Why do you have a footprint sheet?”
Lam Van Thu didn't pay attention to her. Suddenly there was a crashing sound outside the door. The first one. The second one. Very strong. It was like someone was hitting the door with their shoulder. The blood in my body rushed straight to my brain.
“Address!”
Lam Van Thu read the names of the apartment complex and building. Tham Kieu immediately notified the police. Luc Van Da took the car keys and was about to leave. I grabbed him.
"If you're in such a state, where are you going?"
He said: “Go to her house.” I replied: "I'll go too." Older brother frown.
“You stay here to be safe.”
I looked at him.
“Today from the studio to the photo studio, is there a safe place?”
Luc Van Da was speechless. Boss Ha stuffed the tin box into Tham Kieu's lap.
“These evidences are handed over to the MC and police in advance.”
“Everyone go save people.”
Tham Kieu took a deep breath and hugged the box tightly.
“I will guard carefully.”
As we rushed downstairs, the wind outside became even colder. Police car lights flash continuously on the old street.
