Chapter 25
Chapter 25 — Secret Explosive Burning of Cow Dung
Just as Luc Van Da was about to sit in the driver's seat, I pulled him down.
“Your right hand is bleeding, how do you drive?”
He glanced at me.
“Do you know how to drive?”
“No.”
I turned and shouted to the program driver.
“Driver, get to this address as quickly as possible.”
The driver was stunned by today's battle, nodding repeatedly like a chicken pecking rice. When the car sped away, I was still in call mode with Lam Van Thu. The sound of the door on the other side became more and more intense. She used a table and chair to block the door, her breathing was interrupted. I just kept talking to her.
“Lam Van Thu, listen to me.”
“When I was a kid, I used to throw firecrackers and explode with cow dung.”
“Used to push a bicycle.”
“Once fought geese.”
"Even dyed Luc Van Da's rooster green."
On the other end of the line, she suddenly burst into laughter amid sobs.
“I know.”
I was stunned. She choked up and said: "I read every piece of your news."
“The first time you played supporting actress number three, I took over the entire theater.”
“The day I received the new actress award, my mother sat in the last row of seats in the audience.”
“The day I visited the public service film crew, I almost wanted to hug you.”
My tears poured down. The man outside the door slammed hard again. This time, Lam Van Thu screamed loudly. “The door is open,” she said. 18 From the other end of the line came a harsh sound of wood rubbing. It seemed like Lam Van Thu had just knocked something over. The stranger cursed and the sound of footsteps approached. I tightened my grip on the phone, my voice tense.
“Lam Van Thu, hide your phone.”
She did not respond. There were only the sounds of rapid breathing and the sound of broken glass. Everyone in the car held their breath. Luc Van Da sat next to me, using his uninjured left hand to hold the gauze tightly, his face cold and scary. I saw that his other hand had finished calling the police and was on speakerphone. The operator continuously reconfirmed the floor number and room number. I could only listen to the noise coming from Lam Van Thu. The stranger snapped: "Where are the things hidden?" Lam Van Thu's voice was extremely calm. So calm that it wasn't like the woman who was crying and trembling just now.
“You're looking for the wrong person.”
The other guy laughed.
"Mrs. Lam, stop acting."
"Bach Nhiem's commitment has been overturned."
“Nuu Dai Dung can't hide it either.”
“If the original copy in your hand disappears, Van Duong will only have to get back a pile of ashes of stories.”
My heart suddenly tightened. Bach Nhiem. Niu Dai Dung. And even the man came to the door of this house. Behind them there is definitely someone pulling the strings. Lam Van Thu asked: "Who sent you here?" He didn't answer. Another sound of rummaging through things rang out. I heard the sound of drawers being pulled open, papers being pushed to the ground, and ceramics breaking. Lam Van Thu suddenly shouted loudly.
“Don't you dare touch that!”
The man burst out laughing.
“Found it?”
The next second, the sound of struggle rang out on the phone. I can't sit still anymore.
“How much longer?”
The driver was sweating profusely.
“10 minutes.”
I gritted my teeth.
“Is 8 minutes okay?”
The driver stepped on the accelerator, the car jumped up and sped away. Luc Van Da put his hand in front of my chest, in case if the car suddenly braked I would hit my head on the front seat. I turned to look at him. He is also looking at me. Today has been so chaotic. From The lights in the variety show studio, the black smoke in the photo studio, and then the sound of the door slamming on the phone. I barely had time to think about why Luc Van Da could have kept my old diary for so many years. There was no time to think about why he was always able to turn over pages of evidence just when I was about to be drowned in mud. But right now he is sitting next to me. The right arm is still bleeding. His left hand steadfastly shielded me. I suddenly wanted to cry.
