Chapter 10
Chapter 10 — The Beggar Husband Turns Out to Be a Dragon
The next night, when the city fell asleep, Bach Tranh quietly left the house, put on a dark cloak, and told Tuyet Nhi that he needed to meet an old acquaintance to discuss work. She didn't suspect anything, just told him to be careful and then went to sleep peacefully.
In fact, Bach Tranh was heading to the headquarters of Vuong Tin Group, a high-rise office building with scattered lights in a few late working rooms. He watched from afar, using a bit of spiritual energy to enhance his vision and hearing far beyond human limits, enough to clearly hear the conversations coming from behind the thick soundproof glass, and see through the darkness as if it were the middle of the day.
He chose a period of time when the security team changed shifts, moving at a speed that the naked eye could not catch, passing through the security camera system like a breeze, leaving no clear trace other than a brief moment of interference on the surveillance screen that Vuong Tin's own security team could not later explain.
In Do Thanh Lam's private office, which is locked with a modern security system, Bach Tranh finds a filing cabinet hidden behind a wall painting, just like how people often hide their darkest secrets. Inside, he found all the detailed records of the plan to defame Chan Hung Group, including emails exchanged with a group of reporters who were paid to write fake articles, and transfer receipts to a private laboratory that falsified construction materials quality testing results.
He quickly took photos of all the documents with a small camera he brought with him, carefully rearranged everything back to its original position so as not to leave any traces of ransacking, then left the building as quickly as he arrived, no one in the building had time to realize that a stranger had just broken in.
The next morning, a complete set of documents with evidence of Do Thanh Lam's conspiracy was on the desk of a famous economic investigative journalist, who is always famous for his impartiality and is not afraid to touch large corporations, sent via an anonymous email address that cannot be traced.
At the same time, Bach Tranh also contacted someone he never thought he would have to rely on in this situation: an anonymous businessman named Chuong Dich Pham, who very few people in the financial world knew was actually a long-time representative of the dragon clan in the human world, specializing in managing part of the huge assets that Long Uyen had quietly invested in human markets for many generations, to maintain influence and reserve resources when needed.
"Your Highness." Chuong Dich Pham, through a carefully encrypted call, addressed Bach Tranh by a title that made him frown slightly, even though he had been familiar with it since childhood. "It's been six years since I heard any news from you. I thought..."
"I'm still alive, and currently in need of urgent, discreet financial support, without revealing the identity of the person behind it." Bach Tranh spoke straight to the point, his voice returning to the majestic demeanor he rarely showed in his daily life with Tuyet Nhi. "Chan Hung Group is in need of capital to overcome the period of sudden withdrawal of partners. Can you arrange this in the name of an anonymous investment fund?"
"Of course, your highness." Chuong Dich Pham replied, his voice full of respect. "But I have to ask, why are you so interested in a group of humans?"
Bach Tranh was silent for a moment, then replied, his voice had a rare warmth. "Because that's the family we love."
Chuong Dich Pham did not ask further, just quietly complied, and the next morning, a completely unfamiliar investment fund called "Tinh Van Holdings" contacted Chan Hung Group, offering to inject a significant amount of capital in exchange for a small, insignificant share, with terms so favorable that even Giang Chan Hung himself had doubts.
"Who would offer such a beneficial contract at our most difficult time?" He asked the financial director, his eyes filled with skepticism as he looked over the contract.
"We also don't know, Mr. Chairman. The fund representative only works through lawyers and never shows up." The CFO replied, equally confused.
On the same day, an investigative article exposing the entire defamation plot of Vuong Tin Group was published, accompanied by enough irrefutable evidence, causing public opinion to immediately reverse, turning to criticize Do Thanh Lam for unfair competition behavior. Vuong Tin's shares plummeted miserably, while Chan Hung Group gradually regained trust from former partners.
Do Thanh Lam, when he heard the news, broke the wine glass he was holding in his hand, his face darkened with anger. "Who did this? Who dared to ransack my office without leaving a trace?" He roared, but even if he mobilized the entire security team to investigate, he could not find any clues about the intruder.
The trusted assistant, his face pale, tried to reassure him. "Boss, it's probably just an internal leak, no one can break in through our security system without leaving a trace."
"So explain to me, why did the security camera only record a short period of signal interference at that hour?" Do Thanh Lam shouted and threw the remote control on the table. "Find the traitor in this company. I don't believe this is a coincidence."
The internal investigation that followed lasted many weeks, causing the working atmosphere at Vuong Tin Group to become tense and suspicious of each other, but in the end no one could find the real answer, because how could a normal person expect that the person who broke into that most strictly protected place was moving faster than the speed that the naked eye could record.
At the Anh Duong villa, Giang Chan Hung sat in the office, holding a newspaper with an investigation article in his hand, his eyes thoughtful. He is not someone who easily believes in coincidences, especially when at the same time, both vindication evidence and rescue capital appeared right when his company needed it most.
"Dad, is everything okay?" Tuyet Nhi asked when she visited her father in the afternoon.
"It's okay, but I have a question for you." Giang Chan Hung looked at his daughter, his eyes searching. "Do you know where your husband went the other night?"
Tuyet Nhi paused, remembering Bach Tranh's words about going to meet an old acquaintance. "He said he was going to meet a friend to discuss business, what's wrong, dad?"
"Nothing." Giang Chan Hung shook his head, but in his heart he began to pay more attention to his son-in-law, an attention mixed between skepticism and something like respect was gradually forming. He didn't say it out loud, but from that day on, the way he looked at Bach Tranh began to change, no longer completely the eyes of a father-in-law reluctantly accepting his son-in-law, but with a genuine curiosity about this mysterious person.
He quietly called for a separate investigation, not to harm his son-in-law, but simply because of the cautious nature of an experienced businessman, wanting to better understand the person who holds a part of his daughter's destiny. But no matter how hard his private investigation team tried, all clues about Bach Tranh before his appearance on that fateful rainy night were still a complete blank, as if this person had never existed in the world before. That mysterious emptiness, instead of making Giang Chan Hung more suspicious, made him even more curious about the real story behind his special son-in-law.
In the evening, when Bach Tranh returned home, Tuyet Nhi told all the good news about her father's company escaping the crisis, her voice full of excitement. "I don't know who helped my family, but I'm really grateful to that person."
Bach Tranh just smiled, hugged her, and said nothing more about his role in this matter. "I'm glad everything worked out." He said, his voice was gentle, but in his heart he knew clearly that what he had just done, no matter how discreet, had left a few small traces in the network of underground relationships that his enemies, if patient and observant enough, could completely follow to find clues.
And indeed, just a few days later, that small trace reached the ears of someone who was secretly spying throughout the city, a master sent by Diep Thua Uy from Long Uyen, with the mission of finding and destroying the exiled crown prince who had been missing for six years.
