Chapter 2
Chapter 2 — The day he established me, I did not make a fuss, 17 days later, he searched the world looking for me
Lanh Van palace. This name was given by Ta Than himself. Just because Du Van once said that she likes the cold clouds on the summer horizon. At that time, he smiled and gently tapped the tip of her nose: "Your personality, as bright as fire, is not suitable for this Lanh Van palace." She hugged his neck coyly: "With your Majesty here, any cold place will become warm." Now, those words have come true again. This place has truly become a cold palace. When Ta Than entered the palace gate, he only felt a cold breeze hit his face. Not the cold weather. It's the coldness of human energy. An entire large palace, yet only two yellow lanterns were hung in front of the main door. The wind blew and the lights swayed, making the place even more dreary. The little eunuch guarding the door saw him and was so scared that he lost his soul and fell to his knees with a "thump" sound.
“The slave pays his respects to His Majesty!”
The voice trembled until it was speechless. The frustration in Ta Than's heart increased more and more.
“Where is Du Van?” he asked coldly.
“Your highness… your highness…” the little eunuch hesitated, speechless.
Ta Than was too lazy to ask more and walked straight inside with big strides. He pushed open the main hall door. There was no crying like he expected. There were no questions like he expected. In the palace, there was a deathly silence. Du Van's close maid, Xuan Ha, was kneeling on the ground, item by item packing a purple wooden chest. Hearing the movement, Xuan Ha suddenly turned her head and saw him, her face instantly turned pale. Ta Than's eyes passed her, scanning the entire temple. Empty. All the things he had given as rewards, precious jewels, splendid clothes, exquisite decorations, were all gone. The painting he once drew for her hung on the wall, but it no longer exists. On the table, there was once a wish-fulfilling jade he gave her, but it was no longer there. Even the makeup on the dressing table has been cleaned up. This room is so strange that it seems like no one has ever been there.
“Where is she?” In Ta Than's voice, there was a trace of trepidation that he himself had not yet realized.
Xuan Ha bowed her head, not daring to look at him.
“Your highness… you are already asleep.”
“Are you asleep?” Ta Than laughed coldly, "Call her up to see me!"
He thought that this was her new soft-tightening trick. Use this method to make him feel guilty and pay attention. Xuan Ha's body trembled more intensely.
"Your Majesty, your majesty's body is not feeling well. She has been drinking sedative soup. It's really... really inconvenient to get up."
Ta Than's patience was completely exhausted. He pushed Xuan Ha aside and walked quickly towards the inner palace. He lifted the bed curtain. On the bed, empty. The blanket and mattress were neatly folded and there was no warmth left. Ta Than suddenly turned around, his eyes locked on Xuan Ha.
“I'll ask again, where are you?”
Those eyes were so cold that they seemed like they wanted to kill someone. Xuan Ha finally couldn't hold on anymore, her whole body fell limply to the ground, bursting into tears.
"I don't know! I really don't know, Your Majesty!"
“Three days ago, in the evening, the lady sent her servants to the Imperial Palace to get some breakfast.”
“But when the slave turned back, the lady…the lady was nowhere to be seen!”
“This slave searched all over Lanh Van Palace but couldn't find her!”
“The slave doesn't dare to make a big deal out of it, he's afraid… afraid Involving people in the palace, I can only pretend every day that the lady is sick..."
Three days ago. It's gone. Ta Than's mind made a "beep" sound, completely blank. He staggered back a step, hitting the table behind him hard. A small, delicate charcoal burner on the table was knocked to the ground by him.
"Zhang" sound, shattering.
Ashes were scattered everywhere. In that layer of gray ash, there were still a few pieces of unburnt paper left. Ta Than's eyes froze. He knelt down, his hands trembling as he picked up a piece. On it is his autograph. One word "Van", written freely like a dragon flying and phoenix dancing. That was the first letter he wrote to her. He wrote: "One day without seeing each other is like three autumns. I can't sleep at night, I just hope she's safe and sleeps peacefully at night." Xuan Ha looked at the ashes and cried even harder.
"Returning from the big day, the lady burned all the letters that people had previously written to her... burned them all."
“Don't keep a single picture.”
"She said, once it's burned, your heart will also be clean."
Ta Than's fingers touched the cold piece of paper, the cold seeped into his skin, along every inch of blood and spread throughout his body, causing him to freeze in place for a moment. He seemed to be able to see how calm Du Van was as each picture, one by one, personally threw their entire past into the fire. She is not causing trouble. Not angry either. She really... doesn't need him anymore. An unprecedented panic, like countless poisonous snakes, instantly gripped his heart. He suddenly stood up, headed out the hall and screamed.
“Where are you? Block the palace gates!”
“Pass on my decree, the entire city is under curfew!”
“Even if we turn the whole world upside down, we still have to find you to return!”
