Chapter 8
Chapter 8 — The day he established me, I did not make a fuss, 17 days later, he searched the world looking for me
He took a defensive stance. The two dark guards quietly retreated. He gave in. A nine-fifth supreme person, but in front of his woman, and her lover... gave in. When Du Van saw the dark guard retreating, her tense body relaxed slightly. But the brooch in her hand still hasn't come down. Behind her, Tham Thanh Chau gently pulled her sleeve, signaling her not to get excited. Du Van did not turn around. She just looked at Ta Than and coldly opened her mouth.
“You go.”
“From now on, between you and I, our friendship is broken.”
“Let's pretend we... have never known each other.”
Grace cuts off meaning. Never known. These eight words, like the eight sharpest blades, pierce Ta Than. He staggered a bit.
“No way.”
He looked at her, word by word, almost pleading.
“Van Van, follow me back.”
“As long as she comes back, I will not pursue the matter before.”
“I can oust Khuong Tuyet Nhu.”
“I can make you queen.”
“I can give you everything.”
He thinks that these are things that all women in the world dream of. But after hearing this, Du Van just laughed. Laughed so much that tears almost came out.
"Queen?"
“Thank God, have you forgotten?”
"My father is Tran Quoc general Du Kieu."
"At the age of fifteen, I was able to go into battle and kill the enemy. With a silver spear (a bright white silver spear), I knocked down the enemy commander."
"What I want, I've always fought for and won myself."
“Not relying on men to give it to me.”
"What I treasure is never your legacy, or your country."
“Something I value…”
She stopped. The light in my eyes gradually went out.
“Well, it's all over.”
She withdrew her eyes, only endless exhaustion remained in her voice.
“Go away, don't bother us anymore.”
Those two words once again pierced Ta Than's heart. He looked at her standing next to Tham Thanh Chau. Suddenly understood. Something he couldn't give her. Not the afterlife, nor the honor. It's the simple peace, this immediate feeling of mutual dependence. He himself pushed her into the arms of another man. But he did not commit. How could he be willing?
“I won't go.”
The last ray of reason in his eyes was swallowed up by jealousy and possessiveness.
“Where are you?”
He suddenly shouted loudly.
“Bring Concubine Yu… back to the inn!”
This time, he did not give Du Van any chance to react. Before he finished speaking, several highly skilled dark guards approached like lightning. One person took the brooch in her hand. The two of them held her arms tightly. Tham Thanh Chau's expression changed and he rushed forward to stop. But another dark guard knocked him unconscious on the spot with one palm.
“Thanh Chau!”
Du Van screamed in pain. She struggled frantically. But her strength, in front of the strictly trained secret guards, is completely insignificant. She was forcibly dragged out of the small house, the place that once brought her a brief bit of peace. She turned her head. Looking at Tham Thanh Chau lying motionless on the ground. Looking around the messy room. Look at the flickering lights flickering in the wind. In her eyes, two tears silently fell. Then she stopped struggling. She let them drag her away, like a puppet without a soul. Her heart, at that moment, was also completely numb. On the way back to the restaurant. Ta Than and Du Van, sitting in the same carriage. In the car, it was dead silent. Du Van leaned against a corner, closed her eyes, and didn't say a word. As if the person next to you is just air. Ta Than looked at her pale cheeks, his heart aching like a knife. He reached out his hand, wanting to touch her. Just as she raised her hand halfway, she suddenly opened her eyes. Those were empty eyes, devoid of any emotion.
“Don't touch me.”
Her voice was soft, but carried cold disgust.
“I feel dirty.”
Ta Than's hand stiffened in midair. He looked at her, suddenly feeling extremely strange. Is this still Du Van, the person who hugged his neck and acted like a babe, secretly kissed him on the cheek, and was happy all day because of a little care? Not anymore. He has lost her. The carriage stopped in front of the restaurant gate. Ta Than got out of the car first. He turned around, intending to help her. But Du Van didn't even look at him and jumped down herself. Perhaps the move was too hasty. Perhaps the body is too weak. The moment she hit the ground, her body staggered and her face became paler than before. She grabbed the car's chassis and coughed violently. The coughing sound was like tearing the intestines and tearing the liver. As if I wanted to cough out my heart and lungs. She used a scarf to cover her mouth. Coughed for a long time before stopping. Ta Than looked at her fragile back trembling in the night wind, so heartbroken that he couldn't bear it. He walked up.
“Van Van, you…”
The words haven't ended yet. He saw, on the snow-white handkerchief in her hand... A bright red patch spread out, shockingly dazzling. She coughed up blood. Ta Than's mind went "buzzing" and went blank.
