Chapter 1 — The Day I Locked the Villa Door

Just sit there. The phone vibrated once. It's a text message from an unknown number.

“Miss Lam, do we need to confirm today's plan in advance?”

I looked at the time. Ten hours forty-five minutes. Then answer:

"Still following the old plan, no changes. Wait for my instructions."

After sending, I deleted the conversation. At eleven o'clock in the afternoon, To Dao arrived. She was wearing a leather jacket, her face looked like she wanted to fight, she pulled open the passenger seat door and sat down.

"On the way here, I was so angry that my lungs were about to explode! There was a row of cars parked in front of your house, with red carpets and flowers all over the gate, like a royal wedding!"

To Dao put on her seat belt, her voice filled with the smell of gunpowder.

"Do those people still have any shame? Using someone else's house to hold a wedding?"

“From their perspective…”

I replied leisurely.

“It's not someone else's house.”

“It's Chu Huc's house.”

“Just fine!”

To Dao hit his thigh hard.

"When I bought this villa, my grandmother gave me money! There was no name Chu Huc on the red book! You told him about that! Why is he still so impassive?"

“I told you.”

I looked in the opposite direction.

“But he doesn't believe it.”

"Not believe?"

To Dao laughed coldly.

“Or don't want to believe?”

“He just thought that after three years, the house would become his.”

“Exactly like his mother.”

"After taking advantage of other people's comfort, you still act like you've suffered a loss."

I did not respond. Just look at the villa gate on the opposite side. There are more and more guests. Someone drove a car. There are people driving electric cars. There was even a large passenger bus stopping along the road, with more than thirty people on it. They are all relatives from the countryside. There were young and old people, everyone dressed in their best clothes, holding red envelopes in their hands. Tien My Phuong stood outside the gate, smiling at everyone she met, repeating the same sentence to everyone she met:

"Eat and drink comfortably! This is my son's big villa!"

To Dao was so angry that her lips turned white.

"I'm calling the police right now! Report them to illegal trespass!"

I held her hand.

“Why not?!”

I looked at her.

“Do you believe me?”

To Dao was stopped by my eyes. Those eyes... Don't look like the eyes of someone being bullied. Too calm. Unusually calm.

“I believe you.”

She spoke slowly.

“But what are you going to do?”

“Let them finish this wedding.”

“Finished organizing?!”

My eyes stopped on the second floor balcony of the villa. Chu Tieu Man was standing there, her veil blown up by the wind, her arms spread out like a white butterfly.

“The more exciting the better.”

To Dao stared at me for a long time.

“Lam Ha… are you hiding something from me?”

I don't answer. Just took out my phone and showed her the screen. To Dao bowed his head. On the screen are six surveillance camera frames. Every corner of the villa is clearly visible. To Dao took a sharp breath of cold air.

“Can you monitor the entire villa?”

“This security system was installed at the same time as the villa.”

“The highest control is locked with my fingerprint and facial recognition.”

“Chu Huc lived there for three years but did not know this function.”

To Dao's mouth opened and then closed again. She looked at my face sideways. For the first time, I felt... This friend of mine is probably a lot more complicated than she thought. To Dao nodded.

“I hear you.”

“But if they dare to bully you, The first person to rush up is definitely me.”

“They won't stand a chance.”

When I said that, I didn't look at To Dao. But staring at the red banner in front of the villa gate.

“Chu Tieu Man and Tran Hao are happy for hundreds of years.”

Under the sunlight, that line of golden letters flashed brightly. But soon... It won't shine anymore. At one o'clock in the afternoon, the wedding party officially began. The party tent was full. At first glance, there must have been more than two hundred people. Of all ages, the sounds of people talking loudly, the sounds of chopsticks touching dishes, the sounds of children running and jumping, crying and laughing, mixed into a chaos. I'm not in the car anymore. Which entered the villa. Don't go from the main door. I went from the side door to the backyard. That door was so small that Chu Huc's whole family forgot to change the lock. The smart lock on the door is still the old one. I put my fingerprint on it. I stood at the edge of the party tent in the backyard, hidden by a row of flower stands so I didn't stand out too much. To Dao followed behind and asked in a low voice:

“What are you doing here?”

“Let's see.”

The main table is located right in the middle of the party tent. Chu Huc sat in the center, changed into a flattering suit, and wore a red flower on his chest. Next to him is an older man. About fifty or so. Square face, beer belly, wearing a black jacket with a turned collar, you can tell he's the type of person with some status. Tien My Phuong is enthusiastically pouring tea for him.

“Uncle Chu, you came today, Tieu Man is very happy!”

The person called "Uncle Chu" nodded slightly and smiled stylishly. Opposite is the groom Tran Hao and his parents. Tran Hao wore a white suit, was not tall, and kept the standard smile of a groom on his face from beginning to end. His mother was a thin woman, wearing a dark blue outfit, with a smile at the corner of her mouth but her eyes still roaming around the entire scene. That kind of look... I'm so used to it. That's the eye that's valuing. To Dao leaned close to my ear and whispered:

“Who is that Uncle Chu?”

“Chu Huc's uncle.”
