Chapter 10
Chapter 10 — The Day I Locked the Villa Door
Step by step walk towards the gate. Halfway there... The heel of one high heel broke. She staggered a bit. Then definitely take off your shoes. Barefoot walking on the red carpet. Beneath the red carpet is mud. It is ground that has just been trampled by hundreds of people. She didn't turn back. To Dao stood next to the party tent, watching the back of Chu Tieu Man walking barefoot out of the gate. She quietly told me:
“She… is really pitiful.”
I didn't reply. Just go to the front door of the living room on the first floor. Standing in the mystical place. Previously, my shoe cabinet used to be located here. And now... There was a box of wedding candy that hadn't been distributed yet. I squatted down. Open a box. Light pink box. Inside were two chocolates and a small card. On the card are printed the words:
“Chu Tieu Man — Tran Hao.”
“A perfect match for hundreds of years.”
I put the card back in the box. Close the lid. When I stood up, I raised my head... I saw the word Hy cut out of paper and stuck on the wall. Red paper, yellow letters. Paste very neatly. I reached out and took it down. There was also a small patch of glue on the back, causing a bit of paint to peel off. I looked at the small white mark on the wall. Then turned around and looked out at the yard. The police are taking Chu Huc's statement. Tien My Phuong sat on the far steps, not knowing who she was calling, her voice was so low that it was almost impossible to hear clearly. To Dao stood next to watch. I folded the Hy paper in half. Then put it in your pocket. Then go up to the second floor. Enter the master bedroom. I opened all three dressing table drawers. Empty. The jewelry is still in the hands of Tien My Phuong. But I'm in no hurry. The police already know about it. I walked to the front of the wardrobe. The cabinet door had been opened but not completely closed, leaving a small gap. My clothes are still there. But pushed aside. The other side was filled with Chu Tieu Man's things. A pile of shopping bags. A bag was knocked over and a pair of silver high heels fell out. I recognize that brand. Very expensive type. A pair costs at least four or five thousand yuan. I took each of Chu Tieu Man's items out of the closet. Fold neatly. Put on bed. Movement is very slow. Be very careful. It's like cleaning up the remains of someone unrelated to you. Outside the window, the afternoon sun began to set. Orange sunset light shines into the room. Pour on the bright red dragon and phoenix blanket. The two colors blend together. I don't know whether to call it beautiful... Or unsightly. I took out my phone. Open the notes section. On it there is a line:
“Change the locks. Change the bed sheets. Make an appointment for cleaning service. Buy a new potted plant.”
I added a line below.
"Check the wall. Repaint it."
After writing, I locked the screen. Go out to the balcony. The pot of rosemary is still there. I gave it some water. The next day. At six o'clock in the morning I arrived at the villa. Cleaning company next eight hours. The team changes the locks next nine o'clock. I stood in the living room on the first floor and gave instructions. Replace the smart lock. Remove all temporary decorations. Unpacking the party tent. Remove the flower wall. Roll up the red carpet to take away. Cleaning staff started cleaning from the first floor. One room at a time. Broken balloon piece. Fake petals. Disposable food. Filled with more than a dozen large garbage bags. The front yard's lawn was destroyed miserably. The tire tracks are deep and shallow and messy. The grass was crushed into mud. The wedding stage floor has not yet been removed. On it there was still a layer of white chiffon and a few confetti tubes that hadn't been used up yet. I stood by the grass. Look at those "wounds". Then bent down and picked up a piece of broken glass in the grass. It's a piece of a champagne glass. I used wrapping paper. Throw it in a trash bag. The phone rang. I picked up the phone.
"Excuse me, is this Ms. Lam Ha? I'm a Korean police officer from Kien An street police station. Yesterday's case had new developments, I'm calling to report."
"Ms. Tien My Phuong admitted to taking jewelry from her dressing table."
“She said she mistakenly thought it was her son's belongings.”
"Currently the jewelry has been detained. Later, based on the situation, refund or official procedures will be carried out."
“Misunderstanding?”
My voice doesn't change.
“Korean Police.”
“Green jade bracelet, pearl earrings and gold necklace…”
“Which item looks like her son's item?”
The Korean police were silent for a second.
“We are still continuing to verify.”
"As for the illegal intrusion into the house, Chu Huc's side now believes that the two of them had a verbal agreement, so he thinks he has the right to use this real estate."
“Verbal agreement?”
I coldly asked back.
“Last month in front of the civil affairs department, I refused his request.”
“I have WeChat chat history.”
“The message he sent.”
“And all the messages I never responded to.”
“It's all evidence.”
“No oral agreement existed.”
"Okay, we will verify further. Please keep all relevant evidence."
The phone hung up. To Dao came from the backyard. In his hand he holds two cups of coffee.
“I can buy it on the way.”
I took it and took a sip. To Dao looked at me.
“Do you know about yesterday's livestream?”
“I know.”
"Not."
She took out her phone.
“Do you know how explosive it was?”
To Dao opened a news page on the phone screen.
“From yesterday afternoon to this morning, views have exceeded five million.”
“Hot search climbs to seventeenth place.”
“The topic is: 'Ex-husband's family secretly used the villa to hold a wedding, exposed on the spot.’”
To Dao's eyes widened.
