Chapter 15
Chapter 15 — The Day I Return
Behind him, a suppressed, choking voice rang out: "Tieu Duong". I don't look back. Downstairs, the autumn sunlight is very warm. Much warmer than I imagined. Getting in the car, Nguyen Tieu Ngu glanced at me. She didn't ask anything. Just give a bottle of water. I took it, unscrewed the cap and took a sip.
“Your eyes are red.” Small said.
“Blowed by the wind.”
“Yes, because of the wind.”
The car went out of the residential area. I leaned against the car window, watching the building get farther and farther away through the rearview mirror. The third-floor window curtains were drawn. A pale figure stood behind the door frame, motionless, looking this way. I retracted my gaze. Done. Each story has been clarified. Ky Lang's words - temporarily unable to find loopholes. My mother's statement — matches Ky Lang's version. Just waiting for information about the heart surgery from Nguyen Tieu Ngu. If everything is true - Then the essence of this story is: A group of people, with the intention of "wanting the best for the child", joined forces to hide it from me, making a decision that they thought was protecting me, but in fact hurt everyone. My mother is wrong. Ky Lang is wrong. My sister — What is my sister's role? Victim? Accomplice? Or — another form of sacrifice? I don't want to touch this issue for now. Wait five days, return to Zurich and think slowly. Anyway — I won't disrupt my life for anyone else. Three years ago it was possible. Not now. The phone rang. I glanced at the black cat avatar. Very short message. 【I went to my mother's place today.】 I didn't answer. The next message will be sent immediately. 【I don't follow you. It's your mother calling you. He cried and said that you had come.】 I was silent for a few seconds, typed three words: 【Got it.】 Then turned off the phone screen. Nguyen Tieu Ngu stole a glance next to him: "Is it him again?"
"YES."
“He's texting quite frequently these days.”
"YES."
“How are you feeling?”
I thought for a moment.
“It's like just finishing a very difficult exam.” I said, “The process of solving the problem is very tiring, but the moment of submitting it —”
“Breathe a sigh of relief?”
“Almost.”
She nodded, then said softly: "Do you know that when you came out just now, your face looked much more pleasant than two days ago?"
“…What do you mean.”
“Two days ago, although you seemed calm, your whole body was tense.” She made a descriptive gesture, "Like a spring. Today I came out — the spring has already stretched."
I said nothing. Little is right. A string that had been tight for three years, today — has actually loosened a bit. Not because of forgiveness. It's because — finally knowing the truth. Regardless of the truth, knowing is better than not knowing. At least you no longer have to think of thousands of "who knows" things in your head anymore.
“Where are you going, ma'am?” The driver asked.
“Go back to the hotel.”
“Clear.”
Outside the window, sycamore leaves fell from the branches, landed on the windshield, and were blown away again by the wind. Autumn is almost over. In two days, I will leave. Return to a safe, secure world without Ky Lang.
— If nothing happens in the next two days.
**【Chapter 6】** The incident came two days earlier. Eight o'clock that evening. I am in the room editing the industrial park survey report, in front of my laptop are scattered paper documents. Nguyen Tieu Ngu is taking a shower in the toilet, the sound of running water is heard. The phone rang. Not WeChat. Is the call. Nguyen Tieu Ngu's classmate at Hiep Hoa Hospital — saved as "Doctor Truong". I answered the phone.
"Hello Dr. Giang, my name is Truong Man. Tieu Ngu asked me to check, I have the information."
“You say it.”
