Chapter 11
Chapter 11 — The Day I Stopped Fasting, They Lost Everything
Chu Hao and Chu Le also raised their heads high, as if about to enter their own property. They followed the security guard through the luxurious hall full of technology. The looks around them made them feel vain. They were led into a very large room. Inside is empty. There's just one giant screen. And every row of empty seats lined up neatly. This is the number one hall used for the company's product launches. The back door was slammed shut and locked. Luu Ngoc Mai's heart tightened slightly. A feeling of insecurity arose.
“What are you doing, where is Giang Than?”
“Where is my son?”
No one answered. Right then. The giant LED screen in front suddenly lit up, and on it appeared the face of Giang Than sitting in a luxurious office, behind him was a panoramic view of the city stretching out at his feet. He looked down at the three people in the hall with cold eyes, as if observing three ants trapped in a cage. Luu Ngoc Mai's heart immediately stabilized, she quickly got into character, starting the familiar performance with a pitiful crying voice.
“My son, my son, I finally met you. Do you know how much I have missed you all these years?”
She cried until she choked up as if she were a mother who truly loved her child, and Chu Hao and Chu Le immediately joined in, competing to recognize herself.
“Brother, I'm Chu Hao, brother, I'm Le Le, do you still remember me?”
Giang Than just quietly looked at them, waiting until the scene ended before slowly opening his mouth, his voice through the loudspeaker was bone-chilling.
“Mrs. Liu Yumei, are you sure you remember me?”
He didn't even call her mother, causing Luu Ngoc Mai to pause for a moment. Giang Than snapped his fingers, the image on the screen immediately changed to an old document. It was a birth certificate thirty years ago, clearly stating the name Giang Than and in the mother's section the name Luu Ngoc Mai. The image continued to transfer, this time it was the admission letter from the orphanage, clearly stating that the five-year-old child was actively abandoned by his biological mother due to poor health. The screen stopped at an old yellowed photo, in which a skinny boy wearing baggy clothes stood alone at the gate of a children's home, his eyes filled with fear and loss. Giang Than's voice was still terrifyingly calm when recounting the past as if talking about a stranger.
"When she left me, I had a forty-degree fever. The doctor said that if I were half a day late, I would have brain damage."
“In the three years before I was adopted, I got seriously ill seventeen times, each time thinking I was going to die, so that's how you remember me.”
Each sentence and each word was like a cold blade of ice, not piercing Luu Ngoc Mai's heart but tearing off her mask of deception. Her face was sometimes red, sometimes white, but quickly changed to a familiar stubborn state. She started to complain, screaming nonsense.
"At that time, I had no other choice. The family was poor and couldn't afford to raise him. I sent him to the orphanage so he could have a way to live. It was all for his own good."
Giang Than smiled softly, a smile so light that it sent chills down people's spines.
“So according to your logic, I should also think for you now.”
The screen again switched to a legal document, the title was clearly "Agreement to terminate the relationship", and below was also attached a transfer document. The recipient was Liu Ngoc Mai, the amount was one million yuan. Giang Than's voice became calm as if he was discussing business.
“One million yuan, sign this agreement, take the money and disappear from my world, from now on there will be no more relations.”
“This is the last chance I give you, because of the so-called bloodline.”
The number one million made Chu Hao and Chu Le's eyes immediately light up as if they had caught a lifeline. To them right now, that was a fortune. Chu Hao quickly pulled his mother's sleeve, his voice filled with impatience.
“Mom, that's enough, one million is enough, let's take the money and go.”
But Luu Ngoc Mai's greed has no bottom, a million in her eyes is nothing when her son has trillions of assets. She looked at Giang Than on the screen, showing a distorted, greedy smile.
“One million, are you giving alms to beggars? I gave birth to you, raised you, without me, you wouldn't have this day.”
“I tell you, no fifty billion, no, one hundred billion, you don't want me to sign, half of your company must also belong to me.”
She opened her mouth to demand the price like a lion, thinking that she had grasped Giang Than's weakness and believed that he would continue to give in for the sake of his reputation. But unfortunately, the person she faced was not the weak Chu Hao, nor the me from before, but Giang Than who crawled out of hell.
