Chapter 3
Chapter 3 — The Day You Sent Me To Jail
I squinted my eyes and stood on the steps, still wearing that gray outfit. The dress that was torn when brought in was kept in a transparent plastic bag, carried in one hand. In front of the gate is parked a black Mercedes. It's not Uncle Tien's car. The car door opened and a young woman got out. About 25 or 26 years old, with a ponytail, a black vest skirt, flat shoes, and an agile and determined gait.
"Hello Miss Khuong." She nodded at me, handed over a paper bag, "Boss Tien told me to bring it. Inside there are a change of clothes and your papers."
“Who are you?”
“My name is Lieu, new to Chinh Hang Fund's Legal Department.” She pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose, "Boss Tien told me to follow closely and support you today."
I took the paper bag and changed clothes in the back seat. White shirt, black pants, a pair of pointed high heels. After changing, I reached into my bag and pulled out a small mirror. The face in the mirror is a bit haggard. Two days without washing my hair, my hair is tied in a loose garlic bun. There are light blue circles under the eyes. Lips were dry and chapped, without any blood. I pursed my lips and put the mirror away. No problem. Anyway, I don't have to go see anyone.
“Have you booked your plane ticket yet?”
“Okay.” Lawyer Lieu opened his iPad and showed me the itinerary, "Flight at 11 o'clock tonight, flying to Zurich (Switzerland). Business class."
“What about the lawyer letter?”
"Sent to the email of Tham Thi's Legal department at 2:00 pm this afternoon. It is expected that before the opening of the trading session tomorrow morning, the news will spread throughout the investment community."
I glanced at the time. 2:30 p.m. Tham Yen Bach's wedding is tomorrow at noon. Which means… right now he's probably at the hotel decorating the wedding scene. He just finished giving the ring tomorrow afternoon. Tomorrow afternoon, news of capital withdrawal exploded. The day after tomorrow's trading session, the stock collapsed. Everything is perfect. He will know that the sky is falling right when he is at his happiest. And I was 10,000 kilometers away.
“Let's go.” I said, “Go to the bank first.”
3:30 pm, I completed all procedures at the bank. Chinh Hang's voting rights at Tham Thi were officially transferred from the trust fund to my personal name. Starting from this moment, any decision of Tham Yen Bach at the company requires my signature to have legal effect. Of course, he doesn't know yet. He doesn't even know who the real ruler of Chinh Hang is. Over the past 4 years, Chinh Hang's investment in Tham Thi has always been operated through a trust structure, the signer of all foreign documents has always been Uncle Tien. Tham Yen Bach only knows that Chinh Hang is his "golden boss" (biggest sponsor). He didn't know that the "gold master" was me. I don't know what my real name is either. My family name is Khuong. But “Khuong” is just my mother's last name. My father's family name is in the top 20 of Forbes China's billionaires list.
“Miss.” Lawyer Lieu's voice interrupted my thoughts, "Are you sure you don't need to notify... that Boss Tham?"
“Announce what?”
"Notify you that you are about to withdraw capital. According to the contract, capital withdrawal must be notified in writing 30 days in advance..."
“Article 7, Clause 3 of the contract.” Without raising my head, I signed the last document, "If the legal rights of major shareholders are damaged due to personal infringement by the actual controller of the investment company, the shareholder Major reserves the right to exercise the right to withdraw capital immediately without prior notice.
Lawyer Lieu paused. Then she bent down to look at the original contract in her hand. Article 7, Clause 3. White paper and black ink.
"He locked me in a detention center," I put down my pen, "Is this considered a violation of identity?"
Lawyer Lieu closed the document.
“Calculate.”
“Then there is nothing more to announce.”
I stood up, picked up my bag.
“Go to the airport.”
