Chapter 11
Chapter 11 — The Door Lock Changes, Marriage Also Locks
Finally, Chu Canh Hanh could not bear it anymore.
"Doing so will slow down the entire progress."
"Then take it slow."
"Housing is not an acceptance project, it's not like you just have to speed up the process and then give me a result in the end."
His expression immediately darkened.
"Are you deliberately confronting me now?"
I looked at him.
"I'm just giving this house a rule that should have been there from the beginning."
"I didn't ask before because I trusted you."
"And now it has to be asked because you have assumed too many times that you can believe on my behalf."
The living room fell silent. Old Trinh awkwardly bowed his head and flipped through the progress table. Trinh Vu suddenly spoke up:
"Miss Hua, I will no longer take care of the cabinets and lights behind me. As for the areas that have been repaired before, if you are not satisfied, I am willing to contact the store. If I can fix it, I will try to fix it."
"You don't need to go."
"From now on, everything in this house doesn't need your hand anymore."
Her face turned a little pale.
"I never thought I would take your position."
"I didn't say you wanted to take over."
I looked at her.
"I'm just taking back powers that shouldn't belong to you."
Her eyes immediately turned red. Chu Canh Hanh immediately turned to look at me.
"Chieu Ninh."
"Do I have to make her feel so awkward?"
I stopped.
"I made her sign for me, come into my house, erase my authority?"
Chu Canh Hanh said nothing. Tieu Do brought the new registration form from the management board.
"Miss Hua, Mr. Chu, please sign the confirmation. All of Ms. Trinh's authority has been revoked. In the future, all on-site services will need one of you to confirm."
I signed first. When he gave the pen to Chu Canh Hanh, he did not immediately accept it. He looked at that piece of paper, as if the words on it were a responsibility that had just suddenly fallen on his shoulders. In the end, he still signed it. Old Trinh placed the construction progress table on the table.
"So the remaining items such as custom cabinets, installation of electrical equipment and acceptance before moving in, will be confirmed by who later?"
Chu Canh Hanh raised his head. He stopped. I looked at him. He also looked at me. In that moment, perhaps he finally realized that he had almost instinctively called out another person's name. Old Trinh stood by the table, waiting for an answer. Chu Canh Hanh's throat moved slightly, then he said in a low voice:
"Me and Chieu Ninh."
That night, when Chu Canh Hanh returned to his old rented house, he carried two portions of porridge in his hand. One part is pumpkin millet porridge, a dish I often order. The rest is his lean meat and egg porridge. In the past, every time I came home from a business trip with a stomach ache, he would buy this on the way. He gently placed the bag on the dining table.
"I almost haven't eaten anything today."
I sat in front of the computer rearranging orders without looking up.
"I'll eat later."
He stood for a moment then pulled out the chair opposite and sat down. The dining table in the old rented house was very small, on the table sat my computer, his charger and a pot of mint that was about to wither. In the past, we always said that after moving into a new house, we would buy a bigger table. So that when you eat, you don't have to clean up your computer again and again. Now the dining table in the new house is big enough and the lights are bright enough. But I no longer wanted to sit and eat there again. Chu Canh Hanh spoke first.
"You coordinated everything this morning."
"Trinh Vu's right to lock the door has been deleted, the contact person from the management board has also been deleted, and the people in charge of the groups have also changed to the two of us."
"I know."
"The cabinet in the office, I asked the store. They said it can be removed, I will bear the loss. Your previous desk will be restored according to the drawings."
My hand that was typing on the keyboard suddenly stopped.
"Chu Canh Hanh."
"Why do you always think you can just fix everything back to how it was?"
He frowned slightly.
"What if it doesn't?"
"You think what I care about is that table?"
"Haven't you always wanted that desk?"
"I want."
"But now, even the reason why I wanted it that day, I no longer want to explain to you."
His face changed slightly. I turned the computer screen towards him. On it is a list I made in the afternoon. Right to lock the door. Contact person on the repair team. Change cabinets as required. Install electrical equipment. Furniture orders. Remaining amount. Behind each item is blank. Chu Canh Hanh glanced over, his eyebrows furrowed even tighter.
