Chapter 10 — The Parrot Knows Too Much

Updated 10/08/2026 4 min read

I couldn't see clearly. Only heard two dull collisions, then the sound of a body falling to the ground.

“She” bent down and took the gun from a policeman, moving skillfully as if she had done it hundreds of times.

Check the magazine. Open the safety latch. Cold metal spread from the palm of my hand to the depths of my soul. A feeling of trepidation spread out. Not fear. But something more… primitive, darker. Is power. Power can decide the life or death of others. “Her” emotions are taking over me. I began to not be able to distinguish... that excitement was hers, or mine. I'm not a murderer! I screamed inside. I'm Hua Chieu, just an ordinary employee! “Her” cold voice echoed in my head.

“Don't bother me.”

“I'm cleaning up the trouble.”

I held the gun, pressed it close to the darkness of the container, and continued moving. More footsteps were coming this way. They discovered their teammates were defeated. On the intercom, the police officer's voice rang out, both urgent and angry.

“The target stole the gun!”

“Repeat, the target took the gun!”

"Everyone take cover! Firepower is authorized!"

“Permission to use firepower…”

That sentence is like a key, opening a deeper level in "her". The corner of "my" mouth curled up, a smile full of pleasure.

“Finally… at ease.”

“She” is no longer hiding.

Which directly stepped out of the darkness. I stepped out and stood in the middle of the vast space of the harbor. In the blink of an eye, all the surrounding headlights simultaneously shone straight at me, white light as bright as day, leaving no hidden corners. I saw between the gaps in the containers and above, each black gun muzzle exposed, all pointed straight at me, like a closed trap. At the end of the light, Officer Vuong held a loudspeaker, his eyes locked on me, his voice distorted with anger.

"Hua Chieu! Put down your weapons! Raise your hands!"

“You are surrounded!”

“She” laughed, her clear laughter echoing in the empty space of the harbor, sounding chilling.

I raised the gun. But not pointing at the sky. It was raised horizontally, aiming straight at him.

“Are you telling me to put it down?” “she” asked, her voice as innocent as a child.

“But…”

“The game… has just begun.”

Tim Vuong's landscape sank to the bottom. He had experienced countless confrontations, faced dangerous criminals, and faced mentally broken normal people, but he had never seen eyes like this. It's not madness, nor is it despair. It was a cold calm, carrying contempt from above, as if all of them... were just prey.

“Open fire.” “Her” voice is not loud, but resonates clearly to everyone.

“Don't you have that right?”

“Shoot me.”

My finger gently placed on the trigger. No one dared to move. All are waiting for orders. Officer Vuong tightened his grip on the loudspeaker, the veins in his hand appeared, he could not give the order to shoot, because in that body there was still a weak, innocent Hua Chieu. He wanted to save me.

“Hua Chieu, listen to me.” He tried to keep his voice calm.

“We know you are sick.”

“You are not a bad person.”

“Put the gun down, we'll take you for treatment, everything's still on time.”

"Cure treatment?” “she” burst out laughing, as if she heard the most ridiculous thing in the world.

“You guys always like to say that.”

“If you're sick, go see a doctor.”

“Her” eyes glanced over each person.

“Do you know when she first saw the doctor?”

“Eight years old.”

“Father used a belt to beat him until he was completely injured.”

“Her mother, that weak woman, took her to the hospital.”

“The doctor asked where the wound came from.”

“She said… she fell down the stairs.”

“And the doctor… believes.”

"After bandaging her, he patted her head and told her to be careful next time."

The voice was calm as if telling someone else's story. But each word is like a poisonous needle, piercing everyone's heart.

“See?”

“She” raised the hand that was not holding the gun.

“Doctor… treats illness like that.”

“Only treat visible injuries.”

“As for the things that are rotting inside… ignore them.”

Vuong's heart felt like it was being strangled. I understand. Facing him… was no ordinary anti-social person. But a spirit of vengeance, raised from darkness and suffering.

“So…” “Her” eyes turned back.

“Don't mention the doctor again.”

“Because… I am her best doctor.”

As soon as the sentence ends. A gunshot tore through the night. The bullet was not aimed at a person. Which hit the highest headlight above the head of police officer Vuong. Glass shattered, sparks flew. The center of the harbor immediately fell into darkness.

“The game… has begun.”

The cold voice rang out in the darkness, like a demon's whisper.

“Dang! Bang! Bang!”

More shots rang out in quick succession. All remaining headlights were broken. The harbor… was completely swallowed by darkness. The police lineup immediately became chaotic.

“Turn on the lights! Turn on all tactical lights!”

The police king's voice rang out in the night. Streams of light from flashlights swept between the containers, but only illuminated small patches. The remaining darkness... like a living creature, waiting to devour everything. And the most dangerous person... has merged with it. She became the ultimate hunter in this steel forest.
