Chapter 13
Chapter 13 — The Parrot Knows Too Much
My vision had begun to blur, everything in front of my eyes seemed to be covered with a thin layer of fog, but I could still see clearly, the police officers were gradually approaching from all four directions, their flashlights scanning each slot of the container, like emotionless eyes. The guns in their hands reflected cold light. Primal fear rose again, like a fierce wave swallowing the remaining part of my reason.
“She”… is not wrong.
What should I do? What is waiting for me ahead? Cold handcuffs, iron bars, and never-ending trials. Maybe… I really will be considered a monster. I looked down. Trinh Hao was still standing there. There was worry and panic on his face. He was still calling me, but I couldn't hear him clearly anymore. In my world, only the whisper of “her” remains.
“See?” She laughed, her voice filled with delight, "This world has never had a savior."
“The only person who can save you… is yourself.”
“It's just me.”
“Now, give me your body.”
“I will kill you.”
“We will go to a place where no one can find us.”
“We… can start again.”
That voice was like poison, slowly creeping into my weakest nerves. My consciousness is slowly being swallowed by darkness. I trembled and reached out my hand, trying to reach for the gun that had fallen not far away. Just touch it. I can leave it all to “her”. Just as my fingertips were about to touch the cold metal— A loud explosion rang out behind me. Not a gun. It's the sound of helicopter blades. The sound came down from above, coming closer from afar, like a steel beast tearing through the night sky. The searchlight from the helicopter was brighter than all the lights in the harbor combined, so bright that it was like a blade falling from the sky, completely piercing the darkness that "she" created. The pressure of the wind pressed down, my hair blew, my clothes flapped, and the entire space shook as if it was about to burst. “Her” stage… was broken. Anger flared up. I feel it, hot, intense, like territory being violated. This is her game. It's her stage. These guys… dare to ruin everything.
“Hua Chieu。”
A voice rang out from the helicopter speakers. No emotions. Not like King of the landscape, not like Trinh Hao. That voice was as cold as a scalpel, cutting through all layers of emotion, directly touching the core.
“We know you're here.”
“We came to help you.”
“We know what you've been through.”
That saying. Like an invisible needle, it stabbed straight into the depths of my brain. Stronger than any threat.
“She” screamed in my head, my voice almost cracking.
“You guys don't know anything!”
My body involuntarily hugged my head. Memories that had been buried for so long burst like a dam. Dark alley. Dirty hands. Father's face was distorted by alcohol. The brown leather belt whipped down on the skin.
“We know that alley.”
The voice from above continued, cruelly calm.
“We know your father's brown leather belt.”
“We know how the rabbit keychain on your bag was ripped off.”
“We know everything, Hua Chieu.”
“Her” defense line… collapsed. Not defeated. It's about having all her wounds stripped bare, leaving her with no place to hide. A madness broke out.
"I will kill you all!”
“Kill them all!”
“She” screamed in my head, crazy and distorted.
I have never felt "her" fear so clearly. She… is scared. Afraid of so-called "help". Afraid of being taken to the operating table. Afraid of being looked at with cold eyes, of being peeled apart layer by layer.
“I won't get caught!”
Her voice roared, fierce like a cornered wild animal.
“She” controlled my body to stand up, her movements were as sudden as an animal cornered.
“I absolutely do not!” the voice came out sharp, cracking with anger and panic.
I rushed towards the edge of the container, my body leaning outward as if about to fall. But that's not suicide. It was a threat. Using this body, using my death, to force everyone below to stop.
“If you go one step further!”
“I'll drag her along, jump down from here!”
“Her” voice was distorted to the extreme, as if crushed between anger and fear.
“Together… end it all!”
