Chapter 16
Chapter 16 — The Stolen Heir For Thirty Years
18 It's All Over The whole yard fell into dead silence. There was only the sound of the wind blowing through the rustling weeds. Chu Cuong stared at the birth certificate, his whole body as if his soul had been drained out. His lips moved, but no sound came out. His world... completely collapsed. He is not a darling. Not an heir. Just a "stain" raised on lies. Everything he was proud of... turned out to be just a joke. Vuong Cam reacted much faster. There was no mercy on her face, only anger and disgust. She turned around and looked at Liu My Lan and Chu Chinh Duc with eyes that seemed to want to swallow them alive. Her voice was as harsh as fingernails scratching glass.
“You guys are truly top performers!”
"Fraudulent kiss! You deceived me into kissing me!"
“I married him because he is the eldest son, the heir!”
“Now tell me… he's an illegitimate child who doesn't dare to look at the light?!”
“So what are the years of my youth… counting!”
Each sentence was like a knife cutting into Chu Cuong's heart. He looked up at the wife he had shared the same bed with for many years, his eyes broken. Turns out... she never loved him. Just loves the title he thinks he has.
"Divorce! Must divorce!"
Vuong Cam seemed crazy, his high-pitched voice echoed throughout the yard.
“I can't live another day!”
"I have to divorce! Must divide assets!"
"I must get half of those five houses! No, it must all be mine, as compensation!"
Liu My Lan and Chu Chinh Duc sat on the ground, their eyes empty like two puppets whose strings had been pulled. They use lies to hide their lies, and end up building their own graves. Chu Vu stood there, watching the whole drama fall apart. There was no joy of revenge on his face. There was only fatigue… and a bone-deep sadness. He walked to the stone table, picked up the fake contract and the real birth certificate. Then walked in front of Chu Cuong.
"Forged documents... you and Vuong Cam worked together."
“Slandering me… is you alone.”
He spoke slowly, as if rereading the indictment.
"General Ly's project, the house sale contract... are all traps I set."
“I want you to step by step… get to today's conclusion.”
Chu Cuong looked at him, his eyes empty.
“Why…” he asked, his voice hoarse.
Chu Vu looked straight at him.
“Because… this is what you owe me.”
“You owe me… a life that should be perfect.”
Chu Vu spoke slowly, each word seemed to seal their fate.
“Now, I give you a choice.”
He brought out two copies of paper and placed them in front of Chu Cuong.
“Sign this divorce petition and leave empty-handed.”
"Sign this commitment, give up all inheritance rights to the Chu family property, and cut off all legal relations with Chu Chinh Duc and Liu My Lan."
“After that, turn yourself in to the police and accept full responsibility.”
“If you can do it, my lawyer will help you get a suspended sentence.”
"As for the other debt... Mr. Ly's side will no longer pursue it."
“This is my last concession to you.”
A path that sounds cruel... but it is still a path of life. Chu Cuong looked at Chu Vu for a long time, his eyes gradually lost resentment, leaving only surrender. Finally, he held the pen with shaking hands... signed his name. Vuong Cam rushed forward to grab him back, crazy like a lunatic, but Chu Vu pushed him away mercilessly.
“You… have no right to take a penny any."
His eyes were so cold that they made people shiver.
“I will sue you for marriage fraud and dispersal of common property, you will leave empty-handed.”
Vuong Cam collapsed to the ground, completely hopeless. Chu Vu turned to the two people called "parents".
“From today… you are no longer my parents.”
“I will sell all those five houses.”
"The money will be set up in a fund and will only be used to pay for your living expenses and medical treatment."
“I guarantee you won't die of hunger or disease.”
“But… that's all.”
“Love... ends here.”
“This old house will be transferred to my name.”
“You guys stay here… live the rest of your lives in repentance.”
He turned his back, pulled my hand and left, never looking back. In the background was Vuong Cam's crazy curses and Luu My Lan's heart-wrenching cries. The sunlight fell on my shoulders, strangely warm. I looked at Chu Vu's face sideways. He… finally smiled. A clean, relieved smile, as if a lifetime of burden had just been let go. It seemed... it was all over. But just as we were about to get in the car, my phone suddenly rang. Some strange ones... from abroad. I hesitated for a second then picked up the phone. On the other end of the line, was the voice of an old woman, trembling but full of excitement.
