Chapter 8
Chapter 8 — Trust is not for others to take advantage of
Police La turned to me and asked:
"Where have the assets been moved?"
I opened the video from the surveillance camera. The video starts playing. Trieu Khai Thanh picked the cabinet lock. Co Man took the jade bracelet. The two of them put the projector and speakers into their suitcases. In the living room... There was no longer any sound. The first person to recover was Trieu Khai Thanh's father.
"Where did this video come from? Did you secretly film us?"
"In the appendix of the key retention authorization agreement, it is clearly stated that the lobby and office areas both have cameras installed. Trieu Khai Thanh has signed to confirm."
Policeman Luo looked at Trieu Khai Thanh.
"Where are the things?"
Trieu Khai Thanh is still speechless.
"Haven't taken it out yet, still in the house."
I continued to rewind the video on the lobby camera. They pushed two red wedding suitcases out the elevator door. The elevator goes down. I then switched to images from the parking lot camera provided by management. Two suitcases were loaded onto a silver minivan. The license plate is clearly visible. Manager Dieu's face became even more unsightly.
"This car hasn't left the basement yet. I just told the security to stop it."
Co Man's face immediately turned pale. Trieu Khai Thanh turned his head and glared at her.
"Didn't you say the car was running?"
Co Man shouted:
"I called the car!"
Officer La turned to his colleagues.
"Down to the basement."
Ten minutes later. The young police officer pulled up two red wedding suitcases. Open it right in front of everyone. Robot vacuum cleaner. Velvet box. Designed light accessory box. Along with a few invoices and home acceptance records that I keep in my office closet. I picked up the velvet box. Inside is empty.
"Where is the bracelet?"
Co Man turned away. Police La's voice became cold.
"Where is the bracelet?"
Co Man bit her lip and didn't say a word. At that moment, Trieu Khai Thanh's mother spoke:
"It's just a bracelet. It's okay to return it tomorrow, right? Today is a happy day, why do you need to force people like that?"
I stared at her.
"It's a souvenir my mother left me."
"You took my things..."
"...so you still say I forced you?"
Police La repeated again:
"Where is the bracelet?"
Co Man cried as she took out a small box from her bag.
"I... I just tried it on for a bit."
I opened the box. The bracelet is still there. But a new chip appeared on the inside. My finger paused for half a second. That sentence echoed in my head again. The appraisal will speak for you. Standing next to him, Mr. Trinh was angry to the point of madness.
"What about my money? This is a rental scam!"
Trieu Khai Thanh still tried to resist.
"I can return it."
Police La asked:
"Where did the power of attorney come from?"
Trieu Khai Thanh was silent. At that moment, Ha Minh ran over. As soon as he entered the door, he looked at Trieu Khai Thanh, then looked at me, and finally saw the police. The whole face immediately fell.
“Officer La, I can explain.”
I spoke up:
"Of course you have to explain."
"This afternoon you told him to use a scan of the old seal and not to use the company's system."
Ha Minh stiffened right at the door. I turned on the recording.
"I've already sent you the contract form. Don't use the company's system. You collect the money yourself. If something happens, don't involve the company."
Ha Minh's voice echoed throughout the living room. His lips I kept moving for a long time. But couldn't utter a word. Officer La looked at him.
"He also returned to the station to coordinate the explanation."
Ha Minh immediately panicked.
"Comrade police, I only mediate, I do not accept money."
"You helped him fake the company's authorization letter and showed him how to avoid the management system."
Co Man sat down on the sofa and sobbed.
"What should I do at my wedding? Tomorrow I have to go get drinks."
Police La calmly replied:
"First, please cooperate with the investigation."
Trieu Khai Thanh suddenly turned and screamed at me.
"Tham Tri Nghi, do you have to destroy my whole family to accept it?"
I looked straight at him.
"Last night..."
"...I gave you the chance to move out."
His eyes were bloodshot.
"You're so rich, would you die without a house for a few days?"
I nodded.
"Missing a house..."
"...really not dead."
I raised my hand and pointed to the two suitcases that had just been pulled out.
"But if you steal..."
"...then I'll walk you inside."
