Chapter 4 — Unanswered Messages

Luc Tram Chau carefully hugged Lam Ha into his arms, looking at me with cruel eyes:

“Stop threatening us with the breakup, I don't have time to argue with you!”

“This time, it's real…”

Before the words finished, Lam Ha fainted. Luc Tram Chau seemed crazy, hugged her and left, not looking at me once from beginning to end. I was like a dying fish curled up on the ground, a pool of dazzling red blood pouring out from underneath my body. It was the child we had been looking forward to together for three years, and I hadn't even told him yet. Chapter 4 I stared blankly at the hospital ceiling. Luc Tram Chau sat on the edge of the bed, his face full of guilt, holding my cold hand:

“Infection, you... we will have it again in the future.”

My eyes glanced over Lam Ha, who was standing next to him, with red eyes, then stopped on him. A voice as light as a breeze:

“Luc Tram Chau, this is the second child we have lost.”

Luc Tram Chau was stunned. On the night of a snowstorm three years ago, Lam Ha first invited me to play the "second text message" game to test my boyfriend. Ten minutes later, a Maybach stopped on the side of the road to pick up Lam Ha. As for me, left behind in that snowstorm, I called Luc Tram Chau dozens of phone calls with no response. In the end, I passed out all night in the minus ten degree snow. When I woke up, I - someone who didn't even know I was pregnant - had a miscarriage. And now, Luc Tram Chau once again killed our child for my best friend. The two people in front of them clearly remembered the big snow that year, their eyes were filled with extreme regret. Lam Ha's eyes were bloodshot and he frantically punched himself in the stomach:

"Nang Nhiem, it's all my fault, I'll pay for your life, I'll atone for your sins!"

Luc Tram Chau's face changed and he hugged her. Kissed away her tears, repeating over and over: "It's not your fault." Looking at the tragic drama before my eyes, there was no longer a single ripple in the bottom of my heart. I personally pulled out the needle, turned around and left the hospital room. Returning to the apartment, I calmly packed my things. I took the wedding dress stored deep in the dressing room - the dress that I had stayed up countless nights, sewing every stitch by hand - and prepared to throw it in the trash. At this time, the door opened. Luc Tram Chau saw the wedding dress on the bed, the guilt in her eyes became even stronger.

"Nhiem Nhiem, I know you're afraid that Ha Ha giving birth will affect your position."

"Don't worry, the position of Mrs. Luc will forever be yours. No matter who gives birth to this child, the only mother is still you."

He said as he raised his hand to hug me, but I leaned back to avoid him. Luc Tram Chau's hand stopped in midair. He took a deep breath and patiently coaxed me:

"I promise you, tomorrow we will celebrate the wedding. Once the wedding is over, I will take you to Finland to see the aurora borealis. Is this enough to make your anger go away?"

Wedding, aurora borealis. These are the promises that I dreamed of hearing, but I didn't expect that now that I've achieved them, I don't feel the slightest emotion in my heart. On the phone is the text message the court just sent: [Miss To, the three suspects in the rape case have all been caught. The trial opening time is set for 10 a.m. tomorrow, please be present at the trial on time.] [According to their testimony, there may be someone else behind the instigation.] Statement I was about to say something before I could say it when a custom-installed phone ringing interrupted me. Luc Tram Chau answered the phone quickly, took his coat and hurried out:

"Ha Ha has a stomachache, I have to take her to a prenatal checkup first."

“You just rest at home and get well, I will come early tomorrow morning to pick up your bride.”

The door closes. My words "Tomorrow my case will go to court" stuck in my throat. I smirked, collected the case files and placed them on the cabinet right at the entrance.
