Chapter 2
Chapter 2 — Wu Yang Flower – Jade Snow Palace
He lifted the glass of wine on the table and drank it in one gulp. That is our go-to wine. The strong drink entered his throat, and an unusual red blush appeared on his handsome face.
"Why?" he finally spoke.
“No reason.” I said, "I just don't want to continue living those days anymore."
“Tieu Quyet, we have all died once.”
“What else can't be let down?”
My words are like a needle, piercing his last layer of disguise. The mist in his eyes disappeared, leaving only the same tiredness as mine. He only said one word. Decisive, neat. The last rock in my heart fell. I stood up and walked to the dressing table. Pens, ink and paper are all available. I hold the pen, my wrist is steady, not shaking at all. Ten years ago, in order to help him handle public affairs, I learned how to write beautifully. Today, for the first time, I used that handwriting for myself.
"The fate of husband and wife ends, they separate and return home. One difference, two wide, from now on there will be no more problems."
Just a few short lines have written all of our past and present lives. I signed my name, Tham Thanh Nguyet. Then pushed the peace letter in front of him.
“You sign it.”
Tieu Quyet stepped forward and picked up the pen. His hand, however, trembled slightly and was barely perceptible. When the two words "Tieu Quyet" fell onto the page. I seemed to hear the sound of chains breaking. We are finally free. Early morning the next day. I picked up the book and walked out of the new room. Tieu Quyet did not stop me. We walked forward, one after the other, towards the main hall of the Tieu family's mansion. His mother, Lady Tieu, is sitting at the main table, waiting for us to serve tea. Seeing us, a satisfied smile appeared on her face.
"Already here? Quick, offer tea to mother."
I don't move. Neither does Tieu Quyet. The smile on Mrs. Tieu's face stiffened.
"What's wrong with you? On a big day of joy, why is everyone's face so dark?"
I gently placed the cup and book down in front of her.
“Madam, this cup of tea, I'm afraid I can't offer it.”
Lady Tieu's expression immediately changed. She picked up the book, glanced at it, and then slammed it down on the table.
"Fabulous!"
“Tham Thanh Nguyet, do you know what you are doing?”
"On the second day of the big wedding, you already want to divorce. Do you want to make our Tieu family the laughing stock of the whole capital?"
Her voice was sharp and angry. I calmly looked at her.
“Madam, this is not rioting.”
“It was a joint decision between me and Tieu Quyet, after thinking carefully.”
“Shut up!” Lady Tieu turned to her son, "Juet Nhi, tell me! Is this woman forcing you?"
Tieu Quyet was silent. His silence made Mrs. Tieu even angrier. She pointed straight at me and scolded me in a stern voice.
"I knew you were a disaster! I shouldn't have agreed to this marriage before!"
“Our Tieu family is really unlucky for eight generations to marry a comet like you!”
In my past life, hearing these words, my heart would hurt like a knife and I would argue fiercely with her. But right now, I just feel extremely peaceful. Those cruel words can no longer hurt me anymore. I even found it a little funny. Turns out, this is my husband's house that I have been obsessed with for ten years.
“Madam Are you done talking yet?” I asked leisurely.
Lady Tieu was stunned.
“Having said that, I should go.”
I turned around, preparing to leave.
“You dare!” Mrs. Tieu was so angry that her whole body trembled, "If you dare to step out of this door today, I..."
“Mother.”
Tieu Quyet, who had always been quiet, finally spoke up. His voice wasn't loud, but it was enough to stop Lady Tieu's curses.
“Let her go.”
Tieu Quyet's words caused the entire main hall to fall into dead silence. Lady Tieu looked at her son in disbelief.
“Quyet, do you know what you are saying?”
“Are you crazy?”
"For Liu Nhu Yen, I don't even need my future anymore?"
Tieu Quyet did not look at her. His eyes stopped on me, deep and unfathomable.
“This is my decision, it has nothing to do with anyone else.”
“My mind is made up.”
His attitude was more determined than I thought. Save me from wasting more words. I turned towards Mrs. Tieu, bowed slightly and bowed.
“Then, my lady, Thanh Nguyet would like to take her leave.”
Having finished speaking, I didn't look at anyone anymore, turned around and left. This time, there's no one to stop me. My maid, Xuan Hoa, was already waiting outside the door looking impatient.
