Chapter 2
Chapter 2 — After Breaking Up, I Just Learned How to Love You
I stopped and slowly turned my head. Tham Ngo stood at the gate of the station, took off his police uniform jacket, wearing only a white shirt, the sleeves rolled up to the elbow, revealing a section of his arm with toned muscles. In his hand is my bag.
"I forgot my things."
I took the bag, my fingertips accidentally touched his hand. Just as warm as in memory.
"Thanks..." I mumbled.
"YES." He replied but did not leave immediately. We just stood facing each other at the station gate, no one said anything. The night wind blew, bringing with it the chill of early autumn. I couldn't help but sneeze.
Tham Ngo frowned and instinctively tried to take off his coat, but his hand only reached halfway before he stopped.
"Go home soon." He said: "There will be less places like that in the future."
"How's the place?" I deliberately asked and retorted: "A massage shop, or a place to see abs?"
Tham Ngo's face turned black again.
"Ha Linh, you can't..." He paused, as if swallowing back what he was about to say: "Forget it."
He turned around to leave. I was so unlucky that I grabbed his sleeve: "Tham Ngo." He turned his head.
"When we broke up before, did you really... not regret it at all?"
In the night wind, his eyes darkened.
"Regret what?" He asked back: "Regret not agreeing to let you see a few more six-pack boys?"
This man, I haven't seen him for half a year, his mouth is still so poisonous.
"Let's go." He withdrew his sleeve and strode away.
Lam Mieu stood next to her and watched with her eyes in an O shape and her mouth in an A shape: "Wow, the atmosphere between the two of you just now... I'm getting goosebumps."
"Air what air," I glared at him: "Didn't you hear what he said? He's still holding a grudge about me looking at my abs!"
"Being persistent shows that you still care," Lam Mieu winked: "If you don't care, who has the free time to care what you see?"
I was stunned for a moment. Seems to make sense? But then immediately shook his head. Tham Ngo, that workaholic, only has the case in his eyes, so where does he have the time to pay attention to me? When I got home, I lay on the bed scrolling through my phone. The homepage suggests all videos related to the police. 【What is it like to have a police boyfriend?】 【Having a police boyfriend, the feeling of security explodes】 【The possessiveness of a police boyfriend】 Me: "..." What a big data, it really knows how to rub salt into people's hearts. I clicked on a video, the comments were all "Aaa so sweet", "I also want a police lover". I laughed coldly and typed a response: 【Stop daydreaming, your police boyfriend will only keep you from being shadowed. We've been together for a year, and the number of times we've met isn't as many as the number of prisoners he's arrested.】 After speaking, I immediately regretted it, because this comment was quickly pushed to the top of the page. What's more scary is that someone replied: 【Sister, the person you're talking about is Captain Tham, right?】 My hand shook, the phone almost hit my face. Looking closely, that person's ID was 【Little King of Criminal Team】 I stared at that comment for three minutes to make sure I didn't see it wrong. Tremblingly clicked on that person's personal page, and sure enough, it was all about work: showing off overtime, showing off the cafeteria, showing off police dogs... There was a blurry group photo, Tham Ngo standing on the outside, wearing a black combat outfit, sharp eyebrows. I saved the photo, zoomed in, zoomed in again. Then he sighed: Haven't seen you for half a year, what? This person is even more handsome, isn't he? Tieu Vuong sent another message: 【Sister-in-law? Is that your sister-in-law? I'm Tieu Vuong, we met half a year ago!】 I pretended to be dead. Tieu Vuong refused to let it go: 【Sister-in-law, Captain Tham looked very bad when he came home today, sitting alone in the office and smoking half a pack of cigarettes. Are you two arguing?】 Smoking? He didn't smoke before, at least not when he was with me. 【We broke up.】 I answered. 【Huh? When will you break up? Why don't we know?】 【It's been half a year.】 【No wonder Captain Tham has been working overtime every day for the past half year, so he's fallen in love.】 I was stunned. Love sick? Does Tham Ngo also know how to lose love? Don't you just wish you couldn't break up with me as soon as possible? The phone suddenly vibrated. Lam Mieu texted: "See your friend circle now!" I turned to look and saw that under Lam Mieu's post there was a like from 【sy】. There's no name note, but I know it's you.
"He liked it! He liked it!" Lam Mieu texted frantically: "What does this prove? Proves that he still cares for you!"
"Proves he just slipped." I replied.
"Slip hands, you monkey," Lam Mieu sent a series of voice messages: "I tell you, men of this species, the more they act like they don't care, the more they actually care. Like Tham Doi is typical of soft-hearted but tough on the outside."
"He's not an underground nerd, he's a perverted nerd."
I remember the buttons of my shirt buttoned to the top in the interrogation room, and that sexy pharynx. It's clearly deadly forbidden, but everywhere radiates charm.
"In short," Lam Mieu concluded: "You have to make him feel scared. Tomorrow I will arrange for you to go on a blind date, a top quality guy, 1m85, 8 packs, 2 years younger than Tham Ngo."
"I'm not going."
"You have to go!" Lam Mieu sent a cunning icon: "I will post to my friends circle, so that only Team Tham can see it."
Me: "..." Sometimes I really want to call the police and arrest Lam Mieu. The next day was Saturday, I was about to sleep in when Lam Mieu called me up.
"Get up and put on makeup," he ordered: "12 noon, Wanda shopping center, wear that white dress."
"I'm not going."
"If you don't go, I'll tell Tham Ngo that last night you looked at his picture and cried for half an hour."
I jumped up: "How do you know?"
"I just guessed, turns out it's true?"
Me: "..." I want to change my best friend. Really.
