Chapter 6
Chapter 6 — After Breaking Up, I Just Learned How to Love You
“So how are you going to pursue me?” I deliberately asked, "Does Captain Tham have experience pursuing others?"
“No,” he admitted honestly, “but I can learn.”
“For example,” he took out a small notebook from his pocket, “I made a plan.”
I stopped to look, only to see that the book was filled with words: 【Monday: give flowers】 【Wednesday: hot pot date】 【Friday: walk around with her】 【Weekend: watch movies together】 I laughed so much that I almost spit out my tea.
“Tham Ngo, are you investigating the case or pursuing your girlfriend?”
“What's the difference?” he is serious, "you have to research carefully, make a plan, and then execute it."
“So what's the next step?”
He closed the book and suddenly approached. The distance was so close, I could smell the faint scent of cedar on him.
“The next step,” his voice was low and hoarse, “is to ask the victim to withdraw the complaint.”
“What accusation?”
“Claim Tham Ngo,” he looked at me, his eyes incredibly gentle, “the crime is intentionally causing injury.”
“Injury?” I was stunned, "Who did you hurt?"
“Hurt you,” he reached out, gently touching the corner of my eye, “made you cry so much.”
“So,” he paused for a moment, “I hope Ms. Ha Linh will give Tham Ngo a chance to redeem himself.”
“The term is… a lifetime.”
I looked at him, my heart beating rapidly. This piece of wood, since when did he know how to say such things? I turned away, trying to suppress the smile rising at the corner of my lips.
“Let's see the performance first.”
Tham Ngo's plan was carried out extremely methodically. Every day there is good morning and good night, three dates a week, and on holidays there are definitely gifts. Although sometimes the gifts are quite... straight male. For example, Valentine gave me a siren, and when I had the flu, he brought a box of masks and a full medical box. But I can feel that he is seriously learning to love me. Just like that, half a month passed and we got back together. There was no earth-shattering confession, nor was there a grand ceremony. Lam Mieu knew about it and screamed on the phone for five minutes.
"I told you! He's interested in you! He's definitely interested in you!"
“Yeah yeah yeah, you're the best.”
“So what are you two now?”
“I'm back.”
“Come back?!” Lam Mieu's voice was high-pitched, "Is it that easy? Didn't he write a commitment letter? Didn't he cry and beg?"
"Do not have."
"Ha Linh! Can you have some future?"
“What if it doesn't?”
"Make him pursue again! Pursue for three months and then agree!"
“Agreed.”
The other end of the line was silent for three seconds, then there was a pitiful scream: "Ha Linh! In this life, you have lost because of beauty!" I hung up the phone and nervously looked at Tham Ngo. The corners of his lips curled up, clearly having heard.
“What are you laughing at?”
“Nothing,” he reached out to pat my head, “just think you're cute.”
“…smooth tongue.”
The first week after returning, Tham Ngo almost moved into my house. He asked for annual leave, saying it was to "compensate" for me. As a result, every morning I wake up at six o'clock to jog, come home to cook breakfast, and then hug me to watch TV.
“Tham Ngo, don't you need to go back to the bureau?”
“I took a leave of absence.”
“How many days please?”
“Ten days.”
I was surprised. Since starting work until now, Tham Ngo has never taken such a long break. Last time he had a fever of thirty-nine degrees, he still tried to go on duty.
“Is that a joke?”
“Really,” he bowed his head and nuzzled the crook of my neck, “the leader is high then, if you don't stop, you'll lose it."
“So why didn't you stop before?”
“I didn't want to rest before,” his voice was low, “now I just want to be with you more.”
My heart softened a bit, I reached out to hug him. Tham Ngo's body stiffened slightly, then slowly relaxed.
“Have I ever said… I miss you so much?”
“No,” I glared at him, “before, you wouldn't even say 'I like you'.”
“So now,” he raised his head to look at me, his eyes sincere, “Ha Linh, I miss you very much. The past half year, I remember every day.”
“Me too,” I said softly, “I miss it every day.”
