Chapter 7
Chapter 7 — After Breaking Up, I Just Learned How to Love You
The corners of Tham Ngo's lips curled slightly, leaning down to kiss me. The curtains in the bedroom were not closed tightly, the afternoon sunlight crept in, falling onto the floor with a warm yellow streak of light. Tham Ngo put me on the bed, propped my hands on top, his eyes lowered.
“For half a year,” his fingers gently brushed my eyebrows and the corners of my eyes, “I thought about this scene every day.”
“Seeing you right in front of me like this.”
My face immediately became hot. He had never said anything like this before, even when he was joking, he still kept his distance. Now... it's true that I know more and more how to make people flutter. His kiss slowly slid down, stopping at the neck and collarbone, as if intentionally prolonging each emotional beat. I tilted my head back, my hands unconsciously squeezing his shirt.
“Tham Ngo…”
His voice was low and hoarse, as if he was trying to suppress something. The breath gets hotter, the air between the two becomes so tense that even the slightest touch is enough to explode. I pressed my forehead against his chest, clearly hearing his pounding heartbeat.
“Stop teasing me.”
He pulled me close, his movements were a bit hasty but still trying to maintain moderation.
“Tham Ngo, I…”
“I can't help it.”
His voice was hoarse, carrying a bit of helplessness, a bit of sincerity.
“Half a year…” he said very softly, “I've waited too long.”
After that, I lay still on the bed, my whole body as if I had just finished a long run, limp and without any strength left. Tham Ngo hugged me from behind, his chin resting lightly on my hair.
“Still uncomfortable?” he asked.
“What do you think?” I replied weakly, "I haven't seen you for half a year, you really... have changed."
He smiled softly in his ear, his voice low: "Just self-study."
“Learn what?”
“When I miss you,” he said very softly, “I always think, if I still have a chance to be with you, I have to treat you a little better.”
I turned back to look at him.
“Tham Ngo…”
“Can you say more words like this in the future?”
He paused slightly, then nodded: "I'll try."
“It's not about trying, it's about having to do it.” I gently touched his chest, "I want to hear you say you miss me, say you like me. Everything you lacked before, you have to make up for."
Tham Ngo held my hand and gently kissed the tip of my finger.
“Okay,” he said, “every day.”
“That's still acceptable.”
I leaned into his arms, listening to his heartbeat gradually become stable. My heart warmed up little by little. On the last day of the vacation, Tham Ngo said he wanted to take me to work.
“What are you doing there?”
“Meet my colleagues,” he replied, “so they don't keep introducing people to me.”
“Is there someone else to introduce you to?”
“Yes,” he said calmly, “I'm in logistics, introduce me to three people.”
“So are you going?”
"Are not." He looked at me, "I already have someone in my heart."
This sentence came so suddenly, I almost choked. Tham Ngo patted my back, a smile on his lips: "Slowly, no one will compete with you."
“You…” I glared at him, “on purpose, right?”
“Yeah,” he admitted very frankly, “I think you like it.”
…Okay, I really like it. Forgive me then. The criminal team is on the second floor, the hallway is plastered with wanted notices and case reports. I walked behind Tham Ngo, a bit nervous.
“Captain Tham, this is…” a young police officer poked his head out and asked.
“My girlfriend,” Tham Ngo said calmly, “Ha Linh.”
The whole office immediately rang with teasing noises. My face was hot.
“Hello sister-in-law!”
“Sister-in-law is really pretty, she said Why did Captain Tham hide it so well?
At that moment, a familiar face stood up from the desk.
“Sister-in-law?! Is that really you?!”
I looked closely, it was Tieu Vuong of the criminal team. His round face turned red and he was so excited that his eyes opened wide.
“Little King,” I greeted with a smile, “long time no see.”
“Sister-in-law, haven't you two already broken up?!” Tieu Vuong shouted, "For the past half year, Captain Tham has been like a killer, we don't dare come closer within three meters!"
Tham Ngo: “…”
