"Miss Lam, thank you for telling me. But Pho Kinh Nghien and I are divorced and have no relationship anymore. What he does is his business and has nothing to do with me. I will continue to do my job. If the company is under pressure because of me, I can quit."

“Don't be impulsive.” Ms. Lam advised me, "Let's do this, just rest for a few days, wait until you feel better and then come back to work. The Deputy Chief, the boss will deal with it. Even though we are a small company, we don't let people manipulate us however they want."

I hung up the phone, I sat on the edge of the bed, my hands and feet were cold. Pho Kinh Nghien, what do you want to do? The divorce was because he agreed, but now he's in a gloomy mood, because he feels that I, To Nghien, is easy to bully, can he call me and chase me away? I opened my phone, as soon as it turned on, dozens of messages and missed call notifications came in. Most of it belongs to Pho Kinh Nghien.

“To Nghien, answer the phone!”

“Where are you? I came to find you.”

“To Nghien, don't be impulsive, it's very dangerous, don't get involved.”

"Listen! To Nghien!"

The last message was sent half an hour ago: “I'm downstairs in your apartment, if you don't come down, I'll go up.” I rushed to the window and pulled the curtains. Downstairs was indeed parked in a familiar black Rolls-Royce. Pho Kinh Nghien leaned against the car, wearing a black suit, holding a cigarette in his hand, tilting his head up to look up at my room window. The rain had stopped, and in the darkness, he stood tall like a silent statue. I looked at him for a few seconds, then closed the curtain, turned around and went into the bathroom, washed my face, and changed into clean clothes. Can't escape. Something that must be faced, sooner or later must be faced. When I went downstairs, Pho Kinh Nghien's cigarette was just about to end. He put out the cigarette, threw it in the trash, then looked at me. After three days of not seeing him, he looked more haggard, his eye bags were dark, the beard under his chin was thicker, but those eyes were still sharp like an eagle, locking onto me.

“Finally, you agreed to meet me.” His voice was hoarse.

“The deputy general is here, is there anything wrong?” I stood three meters away from him, my tone distant.

He frowned and took a step forward: "Do we have to talk like this?"

“What if not?” I smiled, "What do you want, Vice President? Just like before, I bow my head, whatever you say is my own? Sorry, I can't do it."

Pho Kinh Nghien looked at me, complex emotions swirling in his eyes, eventually turning into a sigh.

“To Nghien, let's talk.”

"Talk about what? Talk about why you knew my identity but kept it from me for three years? Talk about why after the divorce you still meddled in my affairs, forcing me into a corner?" I smirked, "Pho Kinh Nghien, do you think I won't be able to live if I leave you?"

“I don't have—”

“I do.” I interrupted him, "You always think that I, To Nghien, am a parasite living on you. Leaving the Pho family, leaving the To family, I am nothing. So you can mold me as you like. Maybe when I proposed a divorce, you thought I was making trouble, maybe after the divorce you still use this trick to force me to bow my head. Pho Kinh Nghien, you look down on me."

He was silent. The night was very quiet, with only yellow street lights in the apartment complex. We looked at each other a few feet apart, like two strangers. After a while, he came up voice, calm voice: "To Nghien, I only learned about your background not long ago. Things back then were very complicated, involving many people. There may be someone else behind To Quoc Vi. Now you are involved, it is very dangerous."

“So what?” I looked at him, "So I have to pretend like I don't know anything, continue to act like a genius, continue to be a maid at the Pho family, continue to watch you and To Tuyet make love?"
