Chapter 5 — After Divorce, I Am a Real Angel

Pho Kinh Nghien squeezed my chin, forcing me to raise my head to look at him. Emotions I couldn't understand swirled in my eyes: "To Nghien, can you say that again?"

“I said, I regret marrying you.” I said every word, each word like a knife, "If I could do it again, I would rather die at the age of twenty and not even step into your Pho family's house."

His fingers suddenly tightened, I was in so much pain that tears threatened to flow, but I stubbornly refused to fall. We faced each other, like two wounded animals. Finally, he let go, took a step back, adjusted his vest tie, and restored himself to an arrogant Deputy General.

“Let's go, aren't we asking for a divorce?”

“Wait.” I took out a stack of documents from my pocket, "The divorce agreement, I've signed it. The deputy president took a look, if there's no problem, sign it, then let's go in."

He took the document, flipped a few pages, his face becoming more and more ugly.

“Leave empty-handed?” He raised his eyes to look at me, his eyes mocking, "To Nghien, what are you playing? Soft ties and tight ties? Do you think that without money you can make me appreciate you more?"

“You are wrong.” I smiled, "I don't need your money, because I don't want anything to do with you anymore. For three years now, the card you gave me hasn't been touched, the jewelry you gave me is all in the villa safe, the password is your birthday. From now on, we don't owe each other anything."

“No debt?” He seemed to hear something funny, suddenly put his hand on my neck, forced me closer, his warm breath blew into my ear but his voice was cold to the bone, "To Nghien, you slept with me for three years, and now you tell me we don't owe each other anything? Do you think it's possible?"

I stiffened my whole body.

“What, are you scared now?” He smiled lowly, his smile not reaching the bottom of his eyes, "Weren't you very talented on the phone last night? Didn't you want to make me lose my reputation? Come here, let me see how you make me lose my reputation."

I took a deep breath and pushed him away.

“Pho Kinh Nghien, don't touch me, I'll call you dirty.”

His face suddenly darkened. I continued: "Weren't you with To Tuyet last night? Didn't you personally cut a steak for her? Didn't you gently tell her to ignore me? Why, at the same time, you have deep and sincere feelings for Bach Nguyet Quang, and at the same time want to touch this 'maid'? Vice President, you don't feel nauseous, I still feel nauseous."

“To Nghien!” He raised his hand.

I closed my eyes, waiting for that slap to fall. But the expected pain did not come. I opened my eyes and saw Pho Kinh Nghien's hand frozen in mid-air. He was staring at me, his chest heaving violently. In those always cold eyes, there was a trace of... panic?

“You…” His throat slid up and down, “You know?”

“Know what?” I smirked, "Knowing that you love To Tuyet to the core? Knowing that every time you've touched me for the past three years, you've been thinking about her? Pho Kinh Nghien, I'm not stupid. I just... don't care anymore."

I turned around and walked towards the Civil Affairs Department.

"Let's go, Vice President. Finish early, you can still run back to have lunch with your white moonlight."

Pho Kinh Nghien stood frozen in place, not moving for half a day. I walked up the steps, turned to look at him: "Why, Deputy General mean? Can't bear to leave this 'maid'?" He stared at me, his eyes complicated, and finally walked forward with long strides, each step as if stepping on a knife's edge.

“To Nghien, this is the path you chose.”

“Yes.” I smiled, "This is the first path in my twenty-three year life that I chose for myself."

The divorce procedure is done very quickly.
