Chapter 2 — After the Apocalypse, I Raised the Wrong Lich King

I thought he didn't understand, so he repeated a few more instructions before turning around and leaving. I didn't see, after I left, he slowly raised his hand. Cold fingers stuck to the heavy iron door. In those empty eyes, for the first time, an almost stormy emotion appeared. The next day, our team departed.

"Black Forest" is certainly famous.

As soon as we entered, we were attacked by mutated vines. I immediately urged the supernatural power, calmed the agitated plants, and opened a path for us. But the deeper you go, the higher the level of mutant creatures becomes. We encountered a pack of mutated wolves and a giant mutated spider. After a fierce battle, everyone was injured. Lam Vi's arm was cut by the spider's venom, and the wound quickly turned black.

"It's a nerve toxin! Quickly retreat!"

The team's medical staff, Tieu Vu, shouted. But it's late. We are surrounded by mutant beasts. In despair, Lam Vi suddenly looked towards me, a cruel glint in his eyes:

"To Niem, isn't your ability to attract plants? Go lead them!"

That's basically not attraction, but reassurance. Furthermore, once I become the target of all mutated creatures, I will surely die.

"Lin Wei! You're forcing her to die!"

Another teammate, Truong Sieu, roared angrily.

“Otherwise we will all die!”

Lam Vi was a bit unconscious. He suddenly pushed me hard:

“Hurry!”

I was pushed and staggered by him, instantly exposed within the attack range of the herd of animals. A screaming mutated black bear rushed towards me. I closed my eyes. Mac Tran, I'm sorry, maybe I broke my promise. The imagined pain does not come. I just heard an ear-splitting noise, and the whole ground shook. I opened my eyes and saw a back that was both familiar and strange. He wore a black jacket that I washed until it faded, his figure was tall and straight, just standing in front of me. The ferocious mutated black bear just now was like a pile of crushed mud stuck to the tree trunk in the distance, dead beyond death. It's you. Mac Tran. Why are you here? Those three hundred layers of iron doors... Before I could think carefully, I saw him slowly turn around. The surrounding mutated beasts seemed to have been pressed on a pause button. They all stiffened in place, groans of fear emitting from their throats. His empty eyes scanned around, then stopped on me. Next, he strode his long legs, step by step walking towards me. I stood there stunned, forgetting to react. Lam Vi's group was also scared to death.

“He… how did he get out…”

“Don't come over here! Monster!”

Mac Tran ignored them and walked straight in front of me. Then, under my terrified eyes, he reached out and carefully brushed away some dust from my cheek. His fingertips were cold, like a block of jade. Then he opened his mouth, his voice hoarse but unusually clear.

“Don't be afraid.”

3. The whole world is quiet. I looked at Mac Tran blankly, my mind blank. Don't you just say "hungry"? The surrounding mutated beasts began to stir uneasily, but none of them dared to move forward. Mac Tran's eyebrows were slightly furrowed, almost imperceptibly. He turned his head, a growl emitting from his throat low and menacing. The sound wasn't loud, but it seemed to carry some kind of command. All the mutated animals, including that giant mutated spider, seemed to have seen a ghost and immediately scattered like birds and animals, frantically running deep into the forest. Lam Vi, Tieu Vu, Truong Sieu, everyone turned to stone. They gasped, their eyes almost falling out. I swallowed my saliva and tried poking Mac Tran's arm. It's real, not an illusion.

"Mac Tran... you..."

He bowed his head. Those eyes that were once empty, now seemed to have a focus, looking at me without blinking. Then, he made a move that scared me even more. He pulled my hand up, placed it on his cold cheek, and gently rubbed it. Like a... large dog being pampered.

“Hungry.”

He said another word. This time, his eyes were no longer empty, but with a bit of self-pity, looking towards the black bear that had just run away. I slowly reacted. You're hungry, go out to find food, and then save me? I looked at his handsome profile and my heart skipped a beat, refusing to be outdone. My kid, it seems a bit different.

“Let's go, we'll go home.”

I held his hand, turned around and spoke to my teammates who were still in a petrified state. Lam Vi's face was darker than the bottom of the pot. He looked at Mac Tran, his eyes full of fear and... jealousy? On the way back, the atmosphere was very strange. Mac Tran always held my hand tightly, refusing to let go. Whenever there was any wind blowing the grass, he would immediately cover me behind his back, roaring low in a suspicious direction. The feeling of security exploded. Returning to the base, news seemed to sprout wings and fly everywhere. The "pet zombie" that I brought back not only undid the three hundred layers of iron door and ran out, but also saved the whole team in the black forest. Everyone looked at me and Mac Tran with eyes like looking at monsters. As soon as Lam Vi returned to the base, he locked himself up and didn't see anyone. I took Mac Tran back to my room. The base chief's room is a single room, not large, but much better than that small storage room.

“You will be here later.”

I told you. He seemed very happy, walked around the room, and finally sat down next to my bed, patting the spot next to me.

“Together.”

He said. My face gets hot:

“No, men and women are different.”

He tilted his head, seemingly not understanding, but not stubborn either. It's just that those eyes keep following me. I felt uncomfortable when he looked at me, so I had to find an excuse:

"You're hungry, right? I'll go make you food."
