Chapter 21
Chapter 21 — Forty Billion And People Only Ask For A Kitchen
Nha Khang Kitchen started to have customers lining up.
A blogger posted a video about his braised fish dish, and the views increased rapidly. People love the story of a maintenance worker who quit his job to cook rice according to his father's recipe.
Minh Khang didn't know how to respond to comments, so he asked me to read each one. Some people praise, some say the restaurant is successful thanks to his wife's money.
He looked at that comment, then asked:
“Are you sad?”
"No. Money opens the restaurant, but I'm the one who cooks the food."
“I also don't want to pretend I did it all myself.”
He posted a short article, clearly stating the investment capital and operators. He is not ashamed because his wife is richer.
The article received many positive responses. Some husbands messaged asking for the recipe, some women said they were also helping their husbands start a business.
Moc Bep signed another contract with the school. I no longer have to pretend to look for a job. The two of us openly divided our finances: money from my company, money from his shop, family expenses and a reserve fund.
Ngoc Han after four months was transferred to warehouse manager. She works quickly, remembers numbers well and is good at handling employees. The ability that was once used to pressure family members has now become a strength at work.
Duc Tai still has to pay the debt. He applied to work as a theater technician for another company, with a much lower salary. Ngoc Han is no longer a guarantor, but every month she still deducts part of her salary to pay the joint debt she signed.
One night, Ngoc Han told me:
“I used to think that if I had money, others would respect me.”
“What do you think now?”
“If you have money but don't know who to keep by your side, you'll still be lonely.”
I don't know if that is an apology or not. I just gave you next month's salary slip.
“You got a raise.”
Ngoc Han held the paper, her eyes turned red.
“I have never received a raise for doing well.”
“So let's just say this is the first time.”
She nodded. No one hugged each other. There are relationships where just hurting each other less is progress.
