Chapter 4
Chapter 4 — I Tear Up The Script They Wrote For My Life
My mother's words were like a poisonous thorn sticking straight into my heart. Body failure and fame? What does Chu Minh still have in his hands? I didn't turn around, I opened the door and left. I can't stay any longer. That thing called "home" makes me suffocate to the point I can't stand it. I need a quiet place. Need someone who can help me. I took out my phone and called a number I had saved a long time ago.
"Hello, lawyer Tuong? I'm Hua Dien."
A calm and sharp female voice rang out on the other end of the line.
“Hello Miss Hua.”
My senior from college is now a famous lawyer specializing in divorce and property disputes in the city. After graduation, we didn't communicate much. But I still keep her number. I didn't expect to use it so quickly.
“I have some trouble and wanted to ask for your help.”
“If it's convenient, let's meet and talk.”
Half an hour later, I met her at the law office. Tuong Anh wore a neat black suit, short hair, and sharp, professional eyes. I told you everything. From Trieu Dinh, Chu Minh... Until my mother. Finally, I took out the black notebook and placed it in front of her. Tuong Anh flipped through each page. Her expression became more and more serious.
“Careful calculation, very strict planning.”
She closed the notebook and concluded.
“This notebook is direct evidence of their intentional fraud.”
“Legally, not only can you reclaim the entire amount, but you can also be prosecuted for criminal liability.”
Hearing this, I finally breathed a little sigh of relief. Tuong Anh suddenly changed his voice.
“Your mother's last threat, you must be especially careful.”
"I'm also thinking... what else is in Chu Minh's hands?"
I clenched my fingers.
“Usually in this situation, the so-called ‘deadly weapon’ is nothing more than private photos, sensitive videos, or fake debt papers.”
Tuong Anh calmly analyzed.
“The goal is to force you to make concessions during negotiations, not daring to make a big deal out of it.”
"Finally forced me to accept private mediation so they could withdraw completely."
Private photo... Chu Minh and I have been together for three years. There actually were a few pictures. If he really threatened me with that thing... I clenched my palm. At that moment, my phone vibrated. It's a text message from an unknown number.
“Hua Dien, I heard you're very busy these days.”
“I just met my mother, now I'm going to see a lawyer.”
“It seems like you really want to make a big deal out of it.”
It's Chu Minh. His tone was terrifyingly cold. No regrets at all. Only the cold threat remained. Right after that, the second message arrived.
“Give me a chance.”
“At eight o'clock at night, come to this address alone.”
“Let's talk nicely.”
“If not… guess what interesting things you will receive in the mailbox of your company's human resources department?”
Below the message is an address. Attached is a compressed file. My heart immediately sank. Tuong Anh looked at me.
“Is it them?”
I nodded, my fingertips trembling and opened the file. Inside there is only one photo. The setting is a lavish karaoke room filled with red and purple lights. In the photo, I'm wearing revealing clothes, my eyes are confused, and I'm leaning close to the lap of a fat middle-aged man. The corners of his lips also showed a smile that was both flirtatious and pleasing. My head buzzed loudly. Completely empty. This photo… I've never been to that kind of place! I've never worn that type of clothes either! I don't even know that man! That's not me! But the face in the photo... It's clearly my face. Every line. Each mole location. It's so real that I can't deny it. If this photo was sent to the company... I don't dare imagine what the consequences would be. The scrutiny of colleagues. The gossip behind your back. Strange look from superiors. Everything I worked hard to build... Will collapse in the blink of an eye. This is their real killer move. A notebook to record money matters. One photo is enough to ruin my reputation. Use both soft and hard. Terrifyingly secretive. You are truly too cruel. My hands and feet are cold. Tuong Anh took my phone, stared at the photo and frowned.
"Incorrect."
She suddenly spoke up.
“This photo… has a problem.”
