Chapter 4 — My Home, No One Should Touch It

Updated 10/08/2026 7 min read

"The homeowner was not present, had no authorization, and had no phone confirmation—that is, completely unaware. In that situation, do you still hand over the keys to a third party?"

Tran's voice was as cold as ice.

“That is irresponsible management.”

“That is dereliction of duty.”

“If a problem occurs, you must bear full responsibility!”

Vuong Duc Hau was scolded until his face turned white. Legs shaking. Sweat fell drop by drop on his forehead, and he didn't dare even wipe it off. In my heart… I finally feel at ease. First time. Someone came forward to give me justice. Not the type of "family matters can be resolved on their own", not the type of getting along with the whole village. Which is... truly fair. Officer Tran finished scolding, turned to me, his voice had softened a lot:

“Miss Tham, what is your relationship with that younger brother?”

"Ten years of no contact. No financial transactions whatsoever. No contact whatsoever."

I said decisively.

"He illegally invaded my property. I demand immediate recovery."

Officer Tran nodded and turned to the young policeman:

"Record. Suspected of illegal entry into residence. Go check the scene."

Vuong Duc Hau immediately panicked. He quickly ran after:

"Comrade Tran... this... is not necessary... we are all one family, we can completely reconcile internally. On the first day, if we do something this big, the impact will not be good..."

The landscaper turned around.

“Now you know the influence is not good?”

“What to do at first?”

His eyes were sharp as knives.

"Didn't you hear? They broke off their relationship a long time ago! After ten years of no contact, you still call them a family?"

“You guys were negligent first, and now you want to get it over with?”

“The owner's house was taken over, can you bear the responsibility?!”

Vuong Duc Hau was speechless. The whole body is like an eggplant hit by dew, deflated.

"Guide!"

Officer Tran waved his hand.

“Arrived in August 1802!”

In the elevator, I clenched my fists. Heart beats like a drum. My house. A house that I haven't even entered once. Now… what has it become? Tran Canh stood next to me and lowered his voice:

"Miss Tham, when we get there later, no matter what you see, you have to stay calm. With us here, we won't let them do anything wrong."

I nodded. Take a deep breath. The elevator goes to each floor. The number of floors jumped from 1 to 2, 3, 4... My heart also followed each number and lifted each beat. The elevator door opened— My world… seemed to collapse. The hallway is filled with cardboard boxes, sacks, old furniture, boxes, and torn shoe shelves. A red plastic basin was upside down in the middle of the floor, next to it were a few pairs of dirty slippers lying around. The air was filled with a musty smell mixed with the smell of instant noodles. Bright red moving items— piled up right in front of my house. My hallway. My door. Their trash. That feeling... like the wedding night, but someone else slept first. Even more disgusting than that. This is my home. The house is brand new, I haven't lived in it a day yet. The house I've been wanting for ten years. It was blatantly taken over by a group of strangers— and dirty things were piled up everywhere. My whole body trembled. My legs were so soft I almost couldn't stand.

“Miss Tham, are you okay?”

The young policeman gave me a hand. I took a deep breath. Don't fall. If I collapse… My voice is hoarse, but steady. Officer Tran stepped forward and knocked on the door. Glass. Glass. Glass. No one answered. He knocked three more times, harder.

“Is there anyone?”

A secondary voice rang out inside female. Numb and annoyed at being bothered.

“Who is it?”

A young girl wearing a two-strap silk nightgown, her hair disheveled, poked her head out. Heavy makeup, fan-length false eyelashes, but smudged—probably just woken up. Her feet wear rabbit-shaped fur slippers and her nails are painted bright pink. Seeing the police— she immediately panicked. Eyes wide open, voice distorted:

“Who… are you?”

"Police."

Tran police gave the card. Cold, official voice:

"This is Ms. Tham Thanh Vy's house. I request your cooperation in the investigation."

“Tham Thanh Vy?”

She paused for a second. Then immediately pouted. The "ah, so that's it" kind of thing makes people just want to slap him straight.

"What Tham Thanh Vy? This is what Tham An's wedding house bought for me!"

“I'm his girlfriend, Pham Dao!”

She glanced at me up and down. His disdainful eyes looked like he was looking at someone who didn't know anything.

“Are you that older sister?”

"What is it, do you regret it? Do you want your house back?"

"I'll tell you - Tham An said, this house was given to him by you. You said it yourself, give it to him as a wedding house."

“Now you turn around…”

“Are you still ashamed?”

I stared at her. His gaze glanced over her shoulder— looking straight inside. My new home. is no longer mine. My new floors, my new walls, my new kitchen. Now… it's all taken over by their things. The living room was filled with delivery boxes and food boxes, and the smell of spicy hot pot was strong in the air. On the tea table were a half-eaten bag of potatoes, an unfinished bottle of soft drink, and even a package of peeled sanitary napkins. Men's t-shirts and women's underwear were scattered on the sofa, as messy as a pig pen. The blood in my body immediately rushed to my head. But I know, now is not the time to get angry. I have to calm down, I have to make them understand... I'm not the type to bully.

“Pham Dao, right?” I spoke up, my voice terrifyingly calm.

“Give you ten minutes, pack your things and get out of my house.”

Pham Dao seemed to have just heard the biggest joke of his life. She leaned against the doorframe, crossed her arms, tilted her head to look at me, her appearance was no different from a gang of street thugs.

“Your house?” she smirked, her voice shrill and shrill.

"Are you kidding? This is the wedding house Tham An bought for me!"

“He said, his sister has money and deliberately bought a house for him to get married!”

"You're thirty years old and you're still not married, why do you keep such a big house, do you keep a cat?"

Having said that, she deliberately raised her hand and shook the fake diamond ring until it blinded me in front of my eyes.

"Look, the engagement ring that Tham An gave me is one carat! Next month we will register our marriage!"

"This house is our wedding house. If you know the right thing to do, leave, don't stand here and embarrass yourself."

I almost felt nauseous. That "diamond" looks like zircon, under the light it still shines with a cheap blue light. Tham An can't even buy a real ring, so where can she get the money to buy a house for her? That kind of destruction... don't even dream of it.

“Tham An bought it for you?” I laughed coldly.

“Pham Dao, let me ask you a few questions.”

“Whose name is on the house certificate?”

She paused: "What about... putting it in your name? Tham An said, because you're not married, it's easy to borrow money in your name. After getting married, it will be transferred to his name, it's just a formality!"

“Whose name is in the sales contract?”

“Whose account is the loan paid for each month?”

Pham Dao's face immediately changed. Clearly her I didn't expect I would ask here. She turned her head to look inside the house, then looked back at me, her lips trembling, her voice starting to weaken.

"So... so what? Tham An said, you are his sister, yours is also his..."

“He said?” I took a step forward.

"Is what he said true? He said the sun rises in the west, do you believe it?"

“Pham Dao, you are an adult, don't you understand the procedures for buying a house?”

"The certificate is in whose name the house belongs to that person."

“But you don't even have basic legal knowledge?”

Pham Dao was speechless when I asked him, his face turned red, his eyes immediately filled with tears. She quickly pulled out her phone, her hand shaking like a sieve, and dialed.

“Husband, come quickly!”

As soon as the phone connected, she screamed, her voice was high-pitched, crying bitterly.

"Someone is bullying me! My sister is here, and she's bringing the police! She said this house wasn't bought for us!"

"Are you lying to me? Are you lying to me, Tham An! Come quickly, I'm so scared, huh huh huh..."

This performance... it would be a waste not to receive an Oscar. I crossed my arms, smiled coldly, and stood watching her act.
