Chapter 8
Chapter 8 — My Husband Fake His Death To Hurt Me, It Ended Up...
A week later, Co Thi Group held a board meeting. As the legal heir to Co Mac Han's entire estate, I appear as the largest shareholder. The meeting room was suffocatingly silent. All eyes were focused on me — full of suspicion, scrutiny, even unconcealed contempt.
“Miss Lam.” An older director spoke first, "Even though you inherited Mac Han's shares, you have no business experience. We suggest you hand over the management of the shares to the board."
The others immediately nodded in agreement.
"That's right, Miss Lam. This is for Co's future."
I leaned back in the chair, my fingers lightly tapping the armrest, my eyes scanning each person. The corners of the lips curled slightly.
“What do you mean…”
“I don't deserve it?”
“That's not true.” Another person quickly said, "It's just... you were just a housewife before, suddenly taking over such a large corporation, I'm afraid..."
“Afraid of what?” I interrupted.
“Afraid I'll ruin it all?”
No one answered. But the silence… said it all. I stood up. Step in front of the whiteboard.
"Since you guys are so interested in my abilities... I can only reluctantly show you what abilities are."
I wrote a series of numbers on the board.
“This is Co Thi's most recent three-year financial data.”
I turned around. His eyes turned cold.
“According to my analysis, profits are decreasing, costs are increasing.”
“Do you know why?”
I stopped for a beat. Then say each word clearly.
“Because… someone is gutting the company.”
The whole meeting room was shocked.
“Miss Lam, what are you talking about?” One stammered.
"I said, there is someone using the name of the company... transferring money to an overseas account."
I pointed to the numbers on the board.
“All these transfers…have traces.”
I took out a file and placed it on the table.
“This is a detailed investigation report.”
“You… can see for yourself.”
The air in the room froze. The directors took the documents. Each person's face changed. In it, clearly state each transaction, each amount of money... without missing a single detail.
“This… is slander!” One person jumped up, his face pale.
“Slander?” I laughed coldly.
“The evidence has been presented before your eyes… do you still want to continue acting?”
No one could say another word. I stood in the middle of the meeting room, my eyes scanning around. The voice was cold and clear.
“I came here today… not to argue.”
“I just came to make an announcement.”
“From today... Co family changes ownership.”
“All those with problems… voluntarily left.”
“How about… let me call someone to invite you out?”
A few directors turned pale. Everything has been revealed.
“There's one more thing.”
I continue.
“I have looked up the cooperation agreement between Co Mac Han and the Chu family.”
"Accordingly, he intends to transfer all of Co's assets to the Chu family."
“That means…”
“From beginning to end, he was selling out his own family.”
The air once again fell into silence. They all looked at me like they were looking at a completely different person.
“Miss Lam… how can you look up these things?” Some people couldn't help but ask.
I just smiled softly.
“That doesn't matter.”
“The important thing is…”
“I will get back everything I lost.”
“Three years ago, Co Mac Han took advantage of me and appropriated my family's property.”
“I'll take it back… too capital and interest.”
“Will return to the top.”
The meeting ended. A few directors were taken away by police on the spot. The rest of the people looked at me with completely different eyes — no longer contemptuous, but cautious, even respectful.
“Miss Lam, we underestimated you before.” One person bowed his head and said.
“Your talent… goes beyond our imagination.”
I smiled softly.
“It's not a matter of capacity.”
“It's a matter of attitude.”
“Soft persimmon?”
“All… was three years ago.”
“I just haven't had a chance to show it yet.”
“It doesn't mean… I don't have the strength.”
Returning to the office, I stood in front of the glass door, looking down at the city below. The phone vibrates. Message from Truong Minh.
“Miss Lam, the police have found Co Mac Han and Bach Tuyet. They intended to flee abroad, but were stopped at the airport.”
I replied.
“Thank you, lawyer Truong. I will go see them myself.”
I put down the phone.
“Co Mac Han, Snow White…”
“Your pleasant days…”
“It's over.”
My true ability? Everyone already knows. A month later, the business community held a large-scale gala. This is an annual conference where all the major families and leaders in the business world gather. I, as the new general manager of Co Thi... appeared on the guest list. Luxurious and dazzling banquet hall. Lights, wine, gorgeous costumes... and eyes waiting to see... a new show. I wore a bright red evening gown, stood in the middle of the crowd, looking at those familiar faces. Three years ago, I also stood here. At that time, I was just an "accessory" accompanying Co Mac Han. In their eyes, I was like a sparrow lost in a flock of peacocks — lost, insignificant, despised without any concealment. And now... It's still those people. But their smiles were so bright that it was like meeting a loved one who had been lost for many years. People's hearts, warm and cold changes... faster than the weather.
"General Lam, I didn't expect you to be so young and have such ability. It really makes others admire you." A middle-aged man stepped forward, his voice flattering.
“Mr. Lam, I hope you will take more care of me in the future.” A woman also quickly chimed in.
I just nodded slightly. I understood clearly in my heart... These flattering words were not for me. It's because of my identity standing here. Reality... is always so naked.
“General Lam.”
A familiar voice rang out.
