Chapter 10
Chapter 10 — One Key, Turns the Whole Family Over
The faces of father and son immediately stiffened like corpses. Chu Duc Minh quickly objected, his voice urgent.
“Don't listen to her nonsense, this is just a family matter, we are resolving the conflict.”
“If we have to solve the problem, we have to cut off contact and block the door.”
A calm, sharp voice rang out from behind the police. Not fast, not slow, but enough to make everything in the room freeze. Lawyer Truong walked in, wearing a straight suit, behind him was Lao Ly holding a camera pointing straight into the living room. He stood in front of Chu Duc Minh, his voice calm but full of pressure: "According to article 238, illegal detention constitutes a criminal offense." Chu Duc Minh's lips trembled and he couldn't speak. Chu Hao was so scared that he backed away from him. As soon as sister Luu saw the police, she shrank into the corner, trying to minimize her existence. I stepped forward, lifted my sleeve to reveal the bruise, my voice choked up as if I was about to cry.
"Not only did they detain me, but they were also violent, and they also forged a medical certificate to send my mother-in-law to the hospital to take over her property."
I took the album from under the bed mattress and gave it to the police, my eyes never wavering.
“In here is evidence of their adultery and dispersal of assets.”
The policeman took it, turned a few pages, and his face immediately darkened. The situation turned around in the blink of an eye. Chu Duc Minh suddenly went from being the one with the initiative to being a cornered prey. Cold sweat broke out on his forehead, his mind racing to find a way out.
“It's just a misunderstanding, it's all a misunderstanding.” he tried to defend, his voice urgent and trembling.
“My wife is really sick, my daughter-in-law is fascinated by her, her words are not trustworthy.”
He still struggled one last time. At that moment, the mother-in-law suddenly stood up and walked step by step to lawyer Truong. Her eyes were no longer dull but cold to the bone.
“I'm not crazy.” She spoke each word clearly, her voice was hoarse but decisive.
The whole room fell into absolute silence. Chu Duc Minh's face immediately turned white as paper. He trembled and pointed at her, his voice stuttering without forming a sentence.
“You… you pretended to be sick this whole time.”
The mother-in-law did not answer, just took out a recording pen from the lawyer's briefcase. She pressed the play button, Chu Hao's voice rang out clearly.
“As long as there is an insanity certificate, dad will have the right to handle the property.”
“Do you think you can win by holding that thing? My father has a way of turning the will into scrap paper.”
“Now that we've delivered the goods, we're still one family.”
Each sentence was like a knife stabbing straight into themselves. From the day I entered the house, she silently recorded all the evidence. This is something that cannot be denied. Chu Hao collapsed to the ground, his whole body losing strength. Chu Duc Minh also staggered, his eyes only remaining despair. He knows he's done. But just as the police were about to arrest people, he suddenly went crazy. He grabbed the ashtray on the table and rushed straight towards his mother-in-law.
“You bitch, I'll kill you.”
Everything happened so fast, no one had time to react. I shouted and rushed forward but it was too late. The ashtray flew like a bullet, aiming straight at her forehead. My mind was blank, only the sound of my heart beating frantically. At that moment, a shadow rushed forward to block her face. As a young police officer. He raised his hand to block, the impact resounded heavily. The ashtray flew out and fell to the ground, breaking into pieces. His arm immediately became red and swollen, but he did not step back. He turned around and locked Chu Duc Minh against the wall. The remaining police immediately handcuffed him.
“Resisting or attacking people on duty, aggravated crime.”
Chu Duc Minh screamed like a madman.
“Trieu Tu Lan, you will not have a good ending.”
Chu Hao sat on the ground, his eyes empty.
“It's done… it's all done…”
Sister Liu hugged her head and cowered in the corner, shaking like a leaf in the wind. Old Ly still held the camera, recording this entire naked truth. I ran to help my mother-in-law, my voice trembling.
“Mom, are you okay?”
She shook her head, her face pale but her eyes remained steady. She looked at Chu Duc Minh being controlled, without joy, only cold and extreme fatigue.
“Give it away.” The police chief waved his hand, his voice decisive and without hesitation.
“All those involved went to the station to give statements.”
