Chapter 6 — One Key, Turns the Whole Family Over

A cold stream rose from my feet straight to my head. Chu Hao is following me. Did he see me go to tea for a long time, did he see me meeting the lawyer? “The hospital is too crowded, waiting in line to register, waiting for doctors, chaos all morning.” I brought my prepared reasons to answer.

In the afternoon, I used the excuse that my hand hurt and wanted to eat sweets to relieve it, so I decided to go to the bakery in front of the area's gate. This time Sister Liu did not stop, just said one sentence: "Go quickly and come back quickly." I immediately ran out and went to a nearby stationery store. I bought a children's magnetic drawing board, the kind that can be written on and then erased. When I got home, I brought the sign and placed it in front of my mother-in-law.

“Mom, the doctor said it would be better to exercise your hands more, so try drawing.”

Sister Liu stood next to her, pouting her lips in disdain: "It's all useless." She thinks I'm doing too much work. Which is exactly what I want. The opportunity came in the evening. Every day at exactly nine thirty, Sister Liu goes to the bathroom for at least twenty minutes. As soon as the sound of water rang out, I immediately rushed into the main room. Mother-in-law was lying on the bed, eyes open, clearly waiting for me. I took out the board and quickly wrote a few words.

The mother-in-law forced herself to sit up and took the board. Her hands shook violently, but her eyes were extremely determined. She slowly wrote down two words: "Album." Then delete it and continue writing: "Office, safe." At the end is a six-digit sequence. I immediately used my phone to take a photo. Just as I was about to erase the words, the sound of water in the bathroom stopped. My heart jumped, I quickly wiped the board clean and put it back in its original place. As soon as I walked out of the room, sister Liu wiped her hair and walked out. She looked at me suspiciously: "What are you doing?"

“Let me see if mom is sleeping.” I tried to stay calm.

She didn't ask further, but her wary eyes deepened. I returned to my room and looked at the photo on my phone. Album, office, safe, password. The evidence is in the old house of her father-in-law and mother-in-law. But how can I get there? Even though there was a spare key given by Chu Hao, the lock had definitely been changed. Moreover, that house is right in this area, I just need to get close to be discovered. I stayed up all night, racking my brain to think of a way. The next morning, the doorbell rang. I opened the door, my heart sank. Standing outside is Chu Duc Minh. There was no anger on his face, on the contrary, it was a smile that made people uneasy. Behind him is a man wearing a white blouse and carrying a leather briefcase black.

“To Van.” Chu Duc Minh smiled and said, "This is Director Vuong of the mental health center. I invited him to come check on Mom."

His eyes glanced past me, looking into the house, his voice filled with fake concern.

"Anyway, she's started showing violent tendencies lately, we have to think about her health and safety."
