Chapter 3 — One Key, Turns the Whole Family Over

Clearly record every "gray" income of the small company that she and her father-in-law have run together for twenty years. The time, the amount of money, the handler, it's all terrifyingly detailed. Over the years, Chu Duc Minh has secretly transferred a lot of the couple's common assets. As for the money on this card, my mother-in-law secretly kept it before I married into the house. It turned out that she had been on guard for a long time. I kept my will, notebook and bank card in the bank's safe. Having finished everything, I breathed a sigh of relief. Stepping out of the bank, the sunlight seemed brighter. I've got the cards in my hand. I bought the medicine and leisurely returned home. As soon as I opened the door, I saw Chu Duc Minh, Chu Hao and Sister Luu all sitting in the living room. The atmosphere was like a three-person interrogation.

“Where are you going?” Chu Duc Minh's voice was cold, "Buying medicine takes more than an hour?"

"Side road." I calmly placed the medicine on the table.

“To Van.” He stood up, walked towards me, his voice lowered, "I'll ask you again, did you take or see anything at your mother's place... that you shouldn't have?"

His eyes seemed to want to peel off my skin. I know full well, they must have searched again while I was out. The mother-in-law was supported by Sister Liu and stood at the bedroom door, looking at us blankly. But the corners of her lips curled slightly. It was a smile filled with sarcasm and encouragement. Chu Duc Minh's patience was clearly exhausted. His eyes were gloomy, fixed on me as if they wanted to pierce my entire face.

“To Van, we are family, I don't want to make things unsightly.”

He lowered his voice, each word carried a threat.

"The things your mother has accumulated all her life were originally left to Chu Hao. You are his wife, of course they will also be yours in the future."

“Is there any need to be so hasty and make everyone so unhappy?”

I coldly smiled in my heart. It's great to say. If I really deliver the things, I'm afraid I'll be mercilessly kicked out of the house in the next second.

“Dad, I really don't understand what you're saying.”

I lowered my eyes, pretending to be innocent and feeling sorry for myself, my voice weakened just enough.

"Every day I take care of my mother and I'm exhausted. I don't have time to look for anything."

Chu Hao stepped up and began to play the good guy.

"Wife, I don't mean it like that. I'm just afraid that Mom will hide things around and it won't be good if I lose them."

He held my hand, his voice softened.

“Did you see something but didn't dare say it? It's okay, just say it, we won't blame you.”

A scene where bad guys and good guys coordinate smoothly to perfection. If I hadn't seen the will and that book with my own eyes, perhaps I would have been deceived.

“I really don't see anything.” I shook my head, my voice firm.

Chu Duc Minh's face immediately darkened. The air in the living room froze like cement. Sister Liu helped her mother-in-law quietly retreat into the room and close the door. She is smart enough to know what to listen to and what not to get involved in.

“Okay, okay, okay.” Chu Duc Minh said three words at once, his eyes as cold as ice, "To Van, I hope you don't regret it."

After speaking, he took his coat, turned and left. Chu Hao sent him out the door. When he turned back, the mask completely fell off.

“To Van, what exactly do you want?” He scratched his head, his voice filled with frustration, "Do you think you can do anything with those things? I tell you, it's useless. My father has hundreds of ways to turn that will into paper." flipped!”

“I don't know anything about the will.” I still keep the same answer.

“You!” He was so angry that he pointed straight at me and couldn't say a word for a long time, "Okay, just wait there!"

He knocked on the door and left. The whole house fell into dead silence. I felt like I was drained of all my strength and fell down on the sofa. Just over ten minutes of confrontation is more tiring than taking care of your mother-in-law for three days and three nights. I know, this is just the beginning. If they can't find what they want, they absolutely will not stop. In the days that followed, the house was always filled with a stuffy atmosphere. Chu Duc Minh no longer comes, but Chu Hao appears almost every day. He no longer pretended, every time he came, he had a cold face and approached me in a roundabout way. As for Sister Liu, her surveillance became more and more blatant. Wherever I go, her eyes follow. I even have the feeling that the time I go to the bathroom is controlled by her every minute. My mother-in-law and I were completely separated. The only communication was just brief glances at the dinner table. In her eyes, I read two words: patience. I'm patient, but also calculating. The notebook in my hand is the key. The will can be overturned by law, but those notes are real evidence. Evidence of tax evasion and illegal asset transfer by Chu Duc Minh. That was his fatal point. But how should I use it? Report it to the police. Without witnesses, just a notebook may not be recognized, they may not accept it. Or find the tax agency. I don't even know the exact company name and specific address. I fell into a deadlock. That night, while I was sleeping, I was awakened by a very soft knock on the door. It's my room door. I was startled awake.

“Who is there?” I asked in a low voice.

There was no response from outside. There were only two light, more urgent knocks. My heart was beating rapidly, I gingerly walked to the door. Looking through the cat's eyes, it was pitch black outside with no one in sight. I mustered up all my courage and opened the door a crack. There's no one outside the door. There was only a small piece of paper stuffed under the door. I immediately picked it up, closed the door and locked it. Opening the paper, it was the mother-in-law's handwriting, trembling and distorted as if she had put all her strength into writing.

“Go find Lao Ly, my old driver.”

Below is a series of phone numbers. My eye sockets became hot. Mother-in-law… she is still finding a way. Amidst this surveillance, how did she write a piece of paper and quietly bring it to my door? Sister Liu slept in the main room, in the same room as her mother-in-law. I can't imagine how dangerous this could end up being. I clenched the piece of paper in my palm as if clutching the last ray of hope. Tomorrow, at all costs, I must contact this person named Lao Ly. As soon as it was morning, I pretended like nothing happened, calmly got up, brushed my teeth and washed my face. But the way Sister Liu looked at me was a bit unusual, carrying an indescribable look of scrutiny. My heart tightened slightly.
