Chapter 8
Chapter 8 — Pregnant With Ex-Boyfriend
A flash of pain flashed through his eyes. Lam Nhuy An sighed.
"Miss Khuong, I'm just reminding you from a professional perspective. Later on, after pregnancy, when the baby is born, the nurturing environment is also very important."
She turned to look at Ha Duat Xuyen.
“If the mother's condition is persistently poor, it may be more appropriate to place the baby in the care of a more stable person.”
The blood in my body immediately rushed to my brain. People are more stable. Who is she talking about? Is it her? Ha Duat Xuyen's face also turned cold.
“This is not something you need to worry about.”
Lam Nhuy An pursed her lips.
“Duat Xuyen, I'm just thinking about the baby.”
“My child, there is no need for others to think for you.”
My heart was beating wildly. But those words have already fallen into my ears. On the way home, I didn't say a word. Ha Duat Xuyen looked at me several times.
“Don't think too much.”
I withdrew my hand.
“After the baby is born, will you give it to someone else to raise?”
He was stunned.
“No way.”
“Lam Nhuy An said she was more stable.”
“Khuong Tu.”
“I asked if you would give it to someone else?”
He stopped the car and turned to look at me.
“No.”
I turned away. But that night, I still turned on my phone and secretly searched. [If you give birth to an unmarried child, who will have custody of the child] [If the mother is mentally unstable, will she lose custody of the child] [Can the father take the child away by himself] The search box is so bright that it hurts the eyes. The bedroom door made a slight noise. Ha Duat Xuyen stood outside the door, his eyes stopped on my phone screen.

I quickly turned off the phone screen. Ha Duat Xuyen stood outside the door, holding a cup of warm milk in his hand. Neither of us spoke a word. He walked closer and placed the glass of milk on the bedside table.
“Drink and then go to sleep.”
I stared at the glass of milk.
“Did you see that?”
“Yes.”
“Why didn't you ask me?”
Ha Duat Xuyen sat down on the edge of the bed, his voice was very deep.
“Whenever I want to talk, I will.”
My chest ached, but I deliberately said bad words to him.
“What if I don't say anything?”
He looked at me.
“Then I'll wait.”
I hate this look of yours the most. If you're angry, just be angry, if you're mad, just be mad. Here he doesn't scold me, nor does he force me. It was as if I had truly become a piece of porcelain that would break as soon as I touched it. I pushed the glass of milk away.
“Don't drink.”
He didn't advise and stood up to leave. I called him back again.
“Ha Duat Xuyen.”
He turned his head.
“What if I want to leave?”
He stood still for a long time.
“Where to?”
“Take your child with you, go to a place where you can't find him.”
The bottom of his eyes darkened for a second. I thought he would be angry. Yet he said: "Don't go alone." I was stunned. Ha Duat Xuyen's loose hand slowly clenched.
"Your health is not good. If you want to go, I'll take you there."
My throat suddenly choked.
“Are you sick?”
He replied softly: "Yes." Tears fell freely from my eyes.
“Why didn't you stop me?”
He walked closer and squatted down in front of me.
“I've stopped it before.”
I remember what happened three months ago. He stopped me at the door, saying not to break up. I slapped him once. Say you're scary. Saying your possessiveness makes me sick. I held my hand face.
“Ha Duat Xuyen, don't be like that.”
He grabbed my wrist and slowly pulled it down.
“Khuong Tu, I'm afraid you'll cry.”
The tears fell more and more intensely. I rushed to hit him. Punch after punch landed on his shoulders.
“You're a bastard.”
“Yes.”
“You are not allowed to take me away.”
“Okay.”
“Do not give your child to Lam Nhuy An.”
“No delivery.”
“Don't hide anything from me anymore.”
He paused for a moment.
“Will try.”
I raised my hand to hit him again.
“Required.”
He finally burst out laughing.
“Required.”
At night, I cried until I was exhausted, hugged the blanket and fell asleep. In my dream, it seemed like someone had pulled back the corner of the blanket for me. Then clean up the scissors, fruit knife, and messy medicine boxes on the table. I don't open my eyes. I could only smell the cold, pure scent of him. Feeling reassured, yet heartbroken. When Ha Duat Xuyen's phone rang, I was half awake and half asleep. He walked out to the balcony to answer the phone. The night wind blew in, his voice was compressed very low.
“Who is that?”
The other end of the line didn't know what to say. He was silent for a long time. I heard an extremely small sentence.
“What did you say?”
The comment line suddenly appeared in the darkness. [The father-son case has begun.] [The photo of Khuong Tu drunk that night is coming soon.] On the balcony, Ha Duat Xuyen's voice was so cold it was chilling.
“If you want to say the baby is not mine, then show me proof.”
16
Out on the balcony, Ha Duat Xuyen hung up the phone. The night wind blew and the curtains swayed gently. I lay in bed, my heart pounding. When he entered, his face was cold and scary. Seeing that I was opening my eyes, he held back those tears.
“Woke me up?”
I sat up on my hands and knees.
“Whose phone is that?”
“Phone harassment.”
“Ha Duat Xuyen.”
I stared at him.
“I promised not to hide it from you.”
He stood by the bed, silent for a long time, then gave me the phone. It was an anonymous message. [The timing of Khuong Tu's pregnancy doesn't match, do you really dare to admit it?] Below are a few photos. In the photo, I was so drunk that I leaned my head on Quy Van Chau's shoulder, and he helped me into the hotel hallway. My mind was buzzing.
“What is this?”
Ha Duat Xuyen looked at me with deep eyes.
"I was drunk at night."
My throat is choked. That night I was a little impressed. Not long after breaking up, Quy Van Chau's group held a party, and I drank to the point of losing my memory. When I woke up, I was at home, my clothes intact, with only the Khuong family's maid next to me. But the angle from which the photo was taken is too shady. It looked as if Quy Van Chau and I were in the same room. My fingers trembled.
“I didn't do anything wrong.”
Ha Duat Xuyen took the phone back and squatted down in front of me.
“I didn't say you did something wrong.”
“Do you trust me?”
He raised his hand to wipe the tears from the corners of my eyes.
“I will investigate.”
After speaking, he immediately went to his desk and opened the computer. I curled up in the blanket, watching him stay up all night without sleep, extracting the camera, calling, checking the hotel check-in history. When morning came, the bottom of his eyes were filled with bright red blood. I said softly: "Stop investigating." Ha Duat Xuyen did not turn back.
“If you don't investigate clearly, others will still use it to hurt you.”
In the morning, Lam Nhuy An called phone comes. Ha Duat Xuyen turned on the speakerphone. Her voice was gentle.
"I heard you guys received the photos anonymously. If you're interested, you can do a non-invasive fetal DNA test."
My fingers tightened. Ha Duat Xuyen spoke coldly.
“No need.”
