Chapter 9
Chapter 9 — Pregnant With Ex-Boyfriend
Lam Nhuy An paused.
“Duat Xuyen, doing so is responsible for both the child and Ms. Khuong.”
“I said no need.”
His voice turned cold.
"She's pregnant and can't stand being attacked. Don't bring up these kinds of things again in the future."
The phone hung up. Just as I breathed a sigh of relief, my phone suddenly vibrated again. A strange number sent identical photos. There's one more picture. I stood in front of the hotel room door, Quy Van Chau's arm around my waist. The text below stings and stings my eyes. [Are you sure the baby is Ha Duat Xuyen's?] I raised my head to look at Ha Duat Xuyen. His voice was almost broken.
“What if the baby really isn't yours?”
17
Ha Duat Xuyen looked at me, his eyes rolling intensely. I clutched the phone tightly, my fingertips turning white. The me in the photo was so drunk that I lost control. Quy Van Chau supported me, but the angle unintentionally became shady. I try to remember that night. But in my head there were only fragments of broken memories, glasses of wine, laughter, blinding lights, and the sound of Quy Van Chau calling my name softly. The more I think about it, the more scared I become. I put my hand on my lower abdomen, a cold air rising in my stomach.
“Ha Duat Xuyen, you really didn't do anything wrong.”
The sound that came out brought with it sobs.
“But I don't remember clearly anymore.”
He walked in front of me, took the phone away, and turned it off directly.
“Then stop thinking.”
“Aren't you scared?”
“Scared.”
I was stunned. Ha Duat Xuyen lowered his head to look at me, his eyes clearly red.
"Afraid you'll scare yourself again. Afraid you won't want to keep the child anymore. Afraid you'll push me towards someone else."
My tears fell.
“I was asking if you were afraid of the baby…”
You interrupted me.
“Khuong Tu, I accept you.”
My throat felt like something was blocking it.
“What about the baby?”
“The child born to you, I accept it.”
I cried harder.
"Are you crazy? What if it really belongs to Quy Van Chau..."
Ha Duat Xuyen's eyes immediately turned cold.
“Don't mention him in front of me.”
I was startled by his tone. The next second, he pressed me against the door. My back touched the cold wooden door, my eyelashes trembled. Ha Duat Xuyen's one hand was next to my ear, the other hand was protecting the back of my waist, afraid that I would get hurt when I bumped into him. He lowered his head to look at me, his breath hot.
“Khuong Tu, on what basis do you dare to choose someone else instead of me?”
My heart is pounding.
“I don't have it.”
“I do.”
His voice was hoarse.
"Lam Nhuy An, Quy Van Chau, Khuong family, I think about everyone, but the only one has never thought about whether I would be heartbroken or not."
Tears stood on my eyes.
"I'm afraid you'll regret it."
Ha Duat Xuyen bent down. Lips brushed the corner of my lips, then stopped. Just move down a little more and you can kiss on the lips. I held my breath, my fingers clutching the hem of his shirt. He closed his eyes, tried to hold back and backed away.
“I'm pregnant.”
I scolded him in a low voice.
“You coward.”
He laughed lowly, his forehead next to mine.
"Yes, I'm afraid that later you will cry and say that I bullied you."
My nose is extremely sour. Just as he was about to speak, the doorbell rang. Ha Duat Xuyen opened the door and the courier brought a bag of documents.
"Express parcel with Ms. Khuong's city."
I opened it and saw that there was only one printed piece of paper inside. Record Register for a DNA paternity test. The recipient's address says the main family name is Khuong. Cold comments appeared. [The real bomb has already been sent to Khuong's house.] The next second, my mother called.
18
My mother's voice on the phone was scary cold.
“Khuong Tu, go home immediately.”
Before I could speak, the sound of the elevator could be heard outside the door. Ha Duat Xuyen pulled me behind to protect me. The doorbell rang. I looked through the pearl hole, my heart immediately sank. My parents were standing outside the door, behind them were the driver and two bodyguards of the Khuong family. Ha Duat Xuyen opened the door. As soon as my mother walked in, her eyes immediately fell on my lower abdomen, her face changed immediately.
“Are you really pregnant?”
I try to stay calm.
“Yes.”
My father raised his hand to slap me. Ha Duat Xuyen grabbed his wrist.
“Sir, please say something slowly.”
My father laughed angrily.
“What are you that you deserve to stop me from teaching my daughter?”
Ha Duat Xuyen let go and stood in front of me.
“She can't stand the excitement right now.”
My mother's eyes were red, her voice was high-pitched.
"Khuong Tu, are you crazy? You're in a place like this because of him, and you're even pregnant with his child?"
I grabbed Ha Duat Xuyen's shirt behind me.
“I'm not crazy.”
My father threw the file bag on the tea table. Photos, anonymous documents, hospital receipts, all scattered.
"Whose baby is it? Can you say it clearly yourself?"
My face turned white for a moment. Ha Duat Xuyen gathered those photos and turned them face down on the table.
“I will be responsible for the baby.”
My father smirked.
“You are responsible? What do you use to take responsibility? With your tattered company that is about to go bankrupt?”
Ha Duat Xuyen said nothing. My mother walked over and pulled me.
“Follow mom home, the family will solve the baby problem.”
I stepped back.
"I'm not coming back."
“Khuong Tu!”
Tears welled up in my mother's eyes.
“No matter how stubborn you were before, you still wouldn't risk your body like that.”
I almost softened. But Ha Duat Xuyen was standing in front of me, his back straight and tense. He had been hurt by me, abandoned by me, and now he was trampled on by my family like that. I slowly reached out and held his hand. His fingertips trembled slightly. I told my parents: "I'm staying here temporarily." My father's face completely darkened. He looked at Ha Duat Xuyen.
“Name a price, then leave my daughter.”
Ha Duat Xuyen's voice was calm.
“Not for sale.”
My father nodded.
“Very strong bones.”
He took out his phone and dialed a call.
"Cancel all plans to invest in Ha Duat Xuyen's project. By the way, check to see if his company license is clean these days."
My heart contracted.
“Dad!”
My father looked at me coldly.
“I'll have to go back and beg Dad.”
He turned and walked away. Before the door closed, he left behind a sentence.
“Because he won't be able to raise his children anymore.”
19
After my father's words, Ha Duat Xuyen's phone rang all day. Every time he received a call, his face became a little colder. But in front of me, he still acted like nothing happened. Cook porridge for me at noon, steam fish for me in the evening I. Once the fish bones were removed, he pushed the bowl towards me. I stared at him.
“Something happened to the project, right?”
“No.”
“Ha Duat Xuyen.”
He brought me food.
“Let's eat.”
I angrily put down my chopsticks.
“Try hiding it from me again.”
He glanced at me, his voice softening.
“There's a little problem, I can handle it.”
