Chapter 15
Chapter 15 — The Emperor gave me a wedding, the General publicly proposed me as his concubine, I threw away my veil and left
There was pain in Luc Canh Tham's eyes.
“Mother.”
Lady Thai closed her eyes.
“I don't have a foolish child like you.”
Lieu Thanh Ha suddenly became frantic.
“General, you can't go.”
“You're gone, what should I do?”
Luc Canh Tham looked at her. That look lasted a long time. Before, every time he looked at her, his eyes always carried compassion for a weak and sick person. But this time. Only the ultimate cold disappointment remains.
“Thanh Ha, how many more things are you hiding from me?”
Tears immediately welled up in Lieu Thanh Ha's eyes.
“I'm all for you.”
“For the baby.”
Luc Canh Tham shook his head.
“She is for herself.”
She seemed to be knocked down by those words, she sat limply on the ground. The Emperor waved his hand.
“Secret down.”
"Liu Thi, Truong Thi and Luc Palace's bodyguard team, separate each person for detention."
“The Queen Mother will temporarily stay at the Central Palace.”
“Luc Canh Tham, I give you a chance.”
“Twenty cavalrymen will follow.”
"If you capture La Thua Nghiep and return, then return to the capital to wait for questioning."
“If you don't catch him, your crime won't be reduced by even a fraction.”
Luc Canh Tham bowed his head.
“Divine command.”
When he stood up, the lower edge of his uniform swept across the tile floor, creating a dark red streak. When passing by me, he stopped for a moment. Lam Chieu Nha. I don't look at him. His voice was very soft, so low that only I could hear it clearly.
“If the Lam family's old case really has something to do with me, I will use my life to pay for it.”
I finally raised my eyes.
“Your life is not worth exchanging for the entire Lam family.”
Luc Canh Tham's face immediately turned pale. We continue to say:
“Let's bring back the living.”
“Bring back the truth.”
“Otherwise, even if you die along the way, it will still be too good for you.”
His throat moved slightly, then turned and strode away. Outside the palace gate, the night wind swept in, blowing so much that the candlelight swayed simultaneously. The sound of the army's armor soon faded away. I was still kneeling in the middle of the main hall, staring at the blackened blade tassel. The queen ordered her palace servants to bring a chair.
“Chieu Nha, sit down and wait.”
I shook my head.
“Goddess wants to kneel.”
The Queen sighed softly.
“Your parents wouldn't want to see you like this.”
I replied softly:
"They also wouldn't want someone to write them down as a fake page."
Don't know how much time has passed. The general manager of the inner city finally returned. Behind him were two leaders of the Ministry of Defense, several people carrying three old wooden boxes. Just opened the box. The smell of old, musty paper immediately hit my face. The general manager of the inner palace took out the book that recorded the list of deaths in battle and respectfully presented it with both hands to the throne. The Emperor himself opened the book to see. I attentively watch every move of the person. The sound of pages turning, page by page. It sounds like a knife cutting into my heart one by one. Suddenly. The Emperor's hand stopped. The person stared at a page in the book, his face becoming extremely heavy.
"In the list of Lam family's followers, there is a spot where the ink has been erased."
The Queen stepped forward.
“Can you see the original text?”
The general manager quickly brought the lamp back and tilted the light to shine on the paper. Below lights. The erased ink gradually reveals a very pale line. That's not a name. Which is a very small comment. I leaned closer to see clearly. As soon as I read that line. The whole person seemed to fall straight into an ice tunnel. The caption reads: Major General Lam Gia is not dead yet, but has been escorted to Hac Thach barracks. The name of my senior brother, Lam Thua Nghien, was not written in that line, but everyone in the main hall clearly understood that Major General Lam could only be him. The Queen supported my shoulder and said softly:
“Chieu Nha, first of all you have to stay calm.”
I hear your voice very softly.
“Where is the Black Stone Barracks?”
The Minister of Military Affairs prostrated himself on the ground, and after a while, he replied:
“Thirty miles from the old camp of Bac Canh, which was originally a place to detain deserters and criminals, it was abolished ten years ago.”
I looked at him.
“A barracks has been abolished, why can people still be detained?”
His lips were white.
“When I took over the Ministry of Defense, the old files were sealed, I didn't know what was inside.”
The Emperor coldly said:
“Today in this main hall, the word 'don't know' appears a bit too much.”
The Minister of Military Affairs slammed his head hard on the yellow tile floor.
“God deserves to die.”
I turned to the throne.
"Your Majesty, if my eldest brother and daughter were still alive that year, why did the Lam family receive a death list?"
The General Butler's hands holding the notebook trembled slightly. The Emperor did not immediately respond. He flipped to the last pages of the death benefit book, his fingertips stopped on a lipstick mark.
“There is an altered mark here.”
