Chapter 20
Chapter 20 — The Emperor gave me a wedding, the General publicly proposed me as his concubine, I threw away my veil and left
The mist gradually cleared. La Thua Nghiep stood on a high place, in his hand dragging a person whose whole body was covered in blood. When that person raised his head, my eyes suddenly turned white. His face was so thin that it was almost deformed, but the small scar at the end of his left eyebrow was still intact. That was the scar from the past, when he was practicing his spear, I accidentally knocked him down and left it. I heard myself calling out.
“Brother!”
Lam Thua Nghien opened his eyes with difficulty and saw me, the corner of his lips curled up into a smile.
“Chieu Nha.”
La Thua Nghiep blatantly put the knife on his neck.
“If you want to save him... tell Luc Canh Tham to kneel down.”
"Then tell him to open his mouth and admit that that year, the Luc family secretly ordered reinforcements to stop, and the entire Lam family... was dragged little by little by them to exhaustion and death."
The mountain wind blew across the old road of transport, the mist was torn apart by the blade's light. La Thua Nghiep stood on a high place, the blade in his hand was close to his brother's neck, blood dripped down the edge of the knife. I tightened my grip on the reins, my knuckles were so cold they turned white. Luc Canh Tham turned around and dismounted. The wound on his shoulder cracked open again, blood trickling down his sleeve, but he didn't bother to look once. La Thua Nghiep laughed loudly. Luc Canh Tham raised his head to look at him.
“What do you want me to receive?”
La Thua Nghiep pressed the blade down a little more. The brother groaned softly, his face turned gray, but he still stared at me and shook his head. I call out:
“Luc Canh Tham.”
Luc Canh Tham never turned around. He slowly dropped to his knees, kneeling in the middle of the mud puddle. Co Hoai Xuyen's hand holding the knife suddenly tightened. Luc Canh Tham's voice was not loud, but it drowned out the sound of the wind roaring in the valley.
"The old Marquis of the Luc family followed the puppet orders and stopped reinforcements, forcing the Lam family's army to defend alone at the gate."
“The Luc family owes the Lam family a bloody debt.”
"I, Luc Canh Tham, testify today in the name of General Vien Tran, asking the court to reopen the old case."
The smile on La Thua Nghiep's face immediately stiffened.
“I asked you to admit your guilt, not that you set fire to Xu Mat Court.”
Luc Canh Tham raised his eyes.
“What you fear... isn't this?”
La Thua Nghiep's eyes suddenly became fierce.
“Then let's die.”
As soon as his blade moved, the elder brother suddenly stabbed him in the wrist with all his might. At that same moment, Co Hoai Xuyen threw the sword hard. The sword tore through the mist and soared up the stone steps, stabbing straight into La Thua Nghiep's shoulder. I almost didn't need to think, I took out the crossbow that the army gave me and pulled the trigger. The arrow whistled in the wind and crashed into La Thua Nghiep's arm holding the knife. He screamed in pain and the sword fell to the ground. Luc Canh Tham rushed forward. Han Thieu Hanh suddenly rushed out from the dark place, his long spear stabbed straight into Luc Canh Tham's back.
“General Luc, be careful.”
Before I finished speaking, Co Hoai Xuyen blocked right in front. The tip of the spear pierced his shoulder, but he still tightly grasped the spear handle, gritting his teeth and saying:
“The Lam family army does not have a second time to wait for reinforcements.”
The brother stood up with his hands on the cliff, picked up the sword from the ground, and placed his hand on La Thua Nghiep's neck.
"Do not move.”
His voice was hoarse, but still as sharp as the Major General's. The army rushed up the mountain road, controlling all the black-clad men one by one. Han Thieu Hanh was still about to run away, but Luc Canh Tham kicked him and knelt down in the mud. The tip of Luc Canh Tham's sword was close to his throat.
“The private seal was stolen by you?”
Han Thieu Hanh spat out a mouthful of blood and laughed ferociously.
“What if?”
"If you are willing to marry Lieu Thanh Ha soon and let Lam Chieu Nha marry into Luc Palace, then who else can overturn those old debts?"
Luc Canh Tham's hand holding the sword trembled slightly. I supported my brother and looked at Han Thieu Hanh.
"So that marriage was a lock arranged by you from the beginning."
Han Thieu Hanh looked at me, his eyes full of resentment.
“It's a pity you didn't bow your head.”
I replied softly:
"The head of the Lam family only bows to the sky, to the ground, to the king, to parents, but not to impure people."
Co Hoai Xuyen collapsed to the ground, blood soaking half of his shirt. The leader reached out to support him, his voice trembling.
“Hoai Xuyen.”
But Co Hoai Xuyen smiled.
“Major general... we can get out.”
The chief closed his eyes.
“It's out.”
I suddenly felt my eye sockets burning hot. This time, I won't hold back anymore. Ten years of darkness without seeing sunlight in the Black Stone camp, the seven survivors of the Lam family army, old books, broken swords, rows of blood books... Finally saw the light. When returning to the capital, the Emperor personally issued a decree to reopen the trial of the old Bac Canh case. La Thua Nghiep and Han Thieu Hanh were both escorted to heaven and interrogated all night.
