Chapter 9
Chapter 9 — The Fateful Trial
Ha Binh softly called out: "Grandma." My hand holding baby An An tightened slightly.
"Didn't mom say he was the son of Ha Tuan's eldest brother?"
Lam Mai didn't even look at me: "Of course he is a descendant of the Ha family. As for whose child he is, it's not your turn to ask yet." I turned to Ha Tuan: "Tell me." Ha Tuan's throat moved. Lam Mai slammed her stick on the ground: "Tuan, shut up." I laughed: "It turns out there were times when my mother was afraid." Ha Tuan's face turned pale: "Duong Hoa, that is a thing of the past." I just find that statement ridiculous.
"The past story, why did you sneak into my household registration after I gave birth? The past story, why did a sixteen year old boy have to call me mother? The past story, why did today almost destroy my son?"
The woman who used to wear a mask finally spoke: "Miss Duong, don't make things difficult for Ha Tuan." I looked at her: "What do you call me?" Her lips moved: "Miss Duong." I stared at her: "Who are you?" She didn't answer. Lam Mai said:
"Her name is Tong Uyen. Ha Binh's biological mother."
As soon as these words came out, everyone on Vuong Xao Tran's side widened their eyes. Ha Binh glanced at Tong Uyen. It seemed like this was the first time the boy heard this name.
“Didn't you say my mother died?”
Tong Uyen's eyes immediately turned red. Lam Mai frowned: "Now is not the time to talk about this." Ha Binh took a step back: "So everyone is lying to you all the time?" Tong Uyen quickly said: "Binh Binh, mother is in pain." Ha Binh's voice trembled: "Don't call me Binh Binh." I looked at the group of people in front of me and felt like everyone was wearing a mask. I married into the Ha family for two years, but I didn't know my husband had a sixteen-year-old son. I didn't even know that the child's mother even pretended to be a nurse and sneaked into my hospital room. Judge Chiang reminded in a low voice: "This is a court. Issues related to identity registration, false lawsuits and falsification of documents, those involved must declare honestly." Lam Mai finally lost that arrogant look. She looked at Judge Tuong:
“Judge, there is a misunderstanding. We just want to take the baby home. The procedure may be a bit rushed.”
I asked coldly: "A bit rushed? Impersonating my signature is called a bit rushed?" Tong Uyen immediately bowed her head: "The signature is mine." The whole courtroom fell silent again. Ha Tuan looked at her: "Tong Uyen!" Tong Uyen shed tears: "I have no choice. My mother said that if I don't sign, she won't let Binh Binh step foot into the Ha family. She said Duong Hoa just gave birth and can't care about anything. She said just do this first, then slowly move on." I looked at Lam Mai. Lam Mai's face did not change color.
“I didn't tell him to impersonate. I just told him to sign for me.”
The police officer looked serious: "Signing on behalf also requires legal authorization. If Ms. Duong herself does not know, this document has a very serious problem." Lam Mai was a little panicked: "Then we'll withdraw it. Is it okay to withdraw the file now?" I gently patted An An's back:
"Withdraw? What if I don't carry the baby to court today? What if Phung Le Le doesn't tell the truth? What if Vuong Xao Tran takes that copy of household registration and forces me to pay What about money? Are you planning on letting me accept this child first, then burdening myself with this debt?"
Lam Mai was angry: "Don't speak so harshly. Ha Binh is Tuan's flesh and blood. Since you're married to Tuan, you have to tolerate him." My ears felt like they were being pricked by needles. Even though I vaguely guessed it, when I heard it with my own ears, it still hurt like hell. I looked at Ha Tuan: "It's flesh and blood. So I lied to you from the beginning.”
