Chapter 28
Chapter 28 — The Photograph Without a Third Person
Six months after the official investigation was opened, the final results were announced. The labor management agency confirmed that the company providing protective equipment had seriously violated safety standards for many years, affecting dozens of construction projects across the region. The company was fined a large sum of money, forced to compensate victims, and senior management was held criminally responsible.
"We did it," Minh Tuan said at the press conference announcing the results, his voice unable to hide his pride. "This is a victory not only for the direct victims, but for the entire construction industry, a reminder that human safety must never be allowed to become a bargain."
Thu Hang, standing with other victims at the press conference, could not hide her tears of happiness when she heard the news that justice had finally been served. "My husband would have died more peacefully if he had known that his death was not in vain," she told reporters, her voice trembling but filled with determination. "Our story has helped prevent similar tragedies from happening to others."
Ha stood behind the camera lens, capturing that moment — not for commercial purposes, but to preserve an important milestone in the long journey that she, Gia Bao, and all involved have built together.

Ha's "Light After Darkness" project, after its resounding success in contributing to bringing the case to light, continues to grow strongly. More and more people come to Ha Studio, not only to book wedding photography, but also to share their own stories, hoping to find sympathy and a platform for their voices to be heard.
"Ms. Ha, I think we need to expand the team," Dieu Thao proposed in a meeting, when the workload was increasing significantly. "We can't handle all these stories with just the two of us."
Ha agreed, and in the following months, they recruited two talented young photographers who shared their vision of using art to create positive change in society. Ha Studio, from a small studio specializing in wedding photography, has now grown into a significantly influential organization, combining artistic photography and social justice activism.
"I can't believe we've come this far," Ha said to Dieu Thao one afternoon, as the two looked back on the journey they had taken. "From a small studio struggling to find its footing, we are now truly making a difference."
"It's all thanks to you daring to stand up for the truth, even when it means facing danger," Dieu Thao replied. "I learned a lot from you, not only about photography, but about living a disciplined life."

Meanwhile, Gia Bao's work at the national construction safety advisory committee also achieved significant progress. The reform proposals he and his colleagues drafted have been considered and passed by the National Assembly, promising to significantly tighten regulations on labor safety inspection nationwide.
“If this bill is passed, it will require all major construction projects to have at least one independent safety engineer, not under direct pressure from project management,” Gia Bao explained to Ha one evening, the excitement evident in his voice. "That's exactly what could have happened four years ago, what could have prevented all of what happened to you."
"That will be my proudest legacy," Ha said, clutching his hand with deep admiration. "Turn your own pain into the protection of thousands of others in the future."
Gia Bao smiled, his eyes looking far into the future. "That, I think, is the only way that what happened to me can truly make sense — not just as a story of personal tragedy, but as a catalyst for a bigger, better change."

One weekend evening, while the two were preparing dinner in the small apartment, Ha suddenly felt unwell, a bout of nausea made her rush to the bathroom. Gia Bao, worried, waited outside the door.
"Are you okay?" he asked, his voice filled with worry as Ha walked out, her face a little pale.
"I think it's just that there's something wrong with the lunch today," Ha replied, even though she began to have another premonition. This wasn't the first time this week she felt nauseous in the morning.
"Maybe we should see a doctor, just to be sure," Gia Bao suggested, his eyes unable to hide his deep concern.
Two days later, at the clinic, after doing a series of tests, the doctor invited them both into the room to announce the results, a gentle smile on her lips. "Congratulations," the doctor said. "You're about five weeks pregnant."
Ha and Gia Bao looked at each other in silence for a few seconds, both overwhelmed by that unexpected but happy news. Then, almost simultaneously, both burst into laughter, tears of happiness rolling down Ha's cheeks.
"We're going to be parents," Gia Bao whispered, his voice trembling with emotion, his hand gently resting on her belly as if he was feeling the tiny life just beginning to form inside.
"We are about to become parents," Ha repeated, leaning her head on his shoulder, feeling an overwhelming happiness that she had never dared to imagine could be so great.
On the way home, the two didn't say much, simply holding each other's hands, enjoying this quiet but meaningful moment — knowing that their lives were about to enter a completely new chapter, a chapter written not only by their love, but now also by the presence of a little being about to be born, bringing with it all the hopes and dreams that the two had built together since the first mysterious days of their meeting.

The good news was immediately reported to Ms. Kim Oanh that evening. When she heard that she was about to become a grandmother, she burst into tears on the phone, tears of happiness that she didn't try to hide.
"I can't believe it," she said, her voice shaking with emotion. "After everything our family has been through, now there is another great piece of good news like this. Mom will visit you two this weekend, bringing all kinds of supplements and dishes to nourish your pregnancy."
"Don't worry too much, Mom," Ha said, laughing at her mother-in-law's enthusiasm. "The baby is still healthy, the doctor said everything is normal."
"A mother always has the right to worry about her children and grandchildren," Mrs. Kim Oanh replied, her voice filled with love. "Especially when it's my first grandchild."
Gia Huy, when hearing the news from his brother, could not hide his joy. "You're going to be an uncle," he said over the phone, his voice full of excitement. "You know, I started thinking about buying toys for my grandchild right now."
"It's still very early, Huy," Gia Bao replied, laughing at his younger brother's excitement. "But I thank you for rejoicing with us."
Dieu Thao, upon hearing the news from Ha the next morning at the studio, hugged her with a scream of joy, causing several waiting customers to laugh at her enthusiastic reaction. "Miss Ha, this is the best news I've heard this year! So I'm about to have another 'little boss' to pamper."
"Don't talk to her like that when she's not even born yet," Ha replied, laughing loudly at her student's humor.
"Did you already know it was a girl?" Dieu Thao asked, curious.
"Not yet," Ha replied. "It's just my feeling. But whether it's a boy or a girl, I will love my child with all my heart."
In the following weeks, Ha began to readjust the pace of her work, handing over more responsibilities to Dieu Thao and the team of young photographers at the studio, while continuing to closely monitor the "Light After Dark" project that she had worked so hard to build. Gia Bao also began to rearrange his work schedule, prioritizing spending more time at home to take care of his wife during this important period of pregnancy.
"I don't want to miss any moment on this journey," Gia Bao told Ha one evening, his hand gently placed on her belly, where the tiny life was gradually growing day by day. "After everything we've been through to get to this day, I want to cherish every moment."
Ha smiled, leaned her head on his shoulder, feeling a deep peace spread throughout her body. "Me too," she said softly. "We've come a long way to get here, and now a new, more beautiful journey awaits."
