Chapter 2
Chapter 2 — The Rest Of Your Life Is Sweet
2 Labor pains keep coming. Tears welled up in my eyes, but my mind was still spinning wildly. Impossible. It is absolutely impossible for you to know that the baby is your child!
“Don't be so sentimental!”
I tightened the bed sheet, despite everything:
“This baby is not yours!”
Hoac Tranh's movements stopped. His eyes immediately darkened.
“So whose child is it?”
“It… belongs to Kris!”
In my mind, a handsome guy who often livestreamed sales that I watched recently appeared in my mind, and the lie immediately poured out:
"One meter nine tall! Eight packs! Handsome and half-Western!"
Hoac Tranh squinted his eyes:
“Where do you know him?”
“Dali!”
The more I make up the better it is:
"I was traveling to Dali and met a photographer in a bar! We just met and fell in love, dry wood meets fire!"
The eyes of nurse Tieu Chau next to her immediately lit up. This melon is definitely delicious. Hoac Tranh looked at me, his expression not wavering at all.
“Kris?”
He suddenly spoke:
“Is that Canadian?”
I was stunned:
“Huh? Yes! He's back in Canada!”
“Oh.”
Hoo Tranh slightly raised the corner of his mouth:
“That person who knows how to operate a sewing machine?”
Me: “???” What sewing machine? Normally, I only watch handsome guys selling livestreams, I don't know about those stories online.
“Isn't it okay for him... he's multi-talented and multi-talented?”
I gritted my teeth and argued. In the delivery room, suppressed laughter suddenly rang out. The nurses held back their laughter until their shoulders shook. Hoac Tranh did not continue arguing with me anymore. Because my contractions had reached their limit.
“Take a deep breath, use strength.”
Hoo Tranh's voice immediately returned to the professionalism and calm of a doctor. He stood there, like a pillar holding up the sky. No matter how angry I was with him, at that moment, I miraculously felt extremely secure. Struggled for nearly two hours. With a loud cry, I collapsed exhausted on the bed.
“Congratulations, it's a baby girl.”
The nurse happily reported the news. I weakly turned my head, wanting to see the little lump of flesh that I had risked my life to give birth to. Hoac Tranh is cutting his baby's umbilical cord. His movements were so gentle, his eyes so attentive that people couldn't take their eyes off him. After cutting the umbilical cord, he handed the baby over to the cleaning nurse. Then he took off his gloves and went to the desk to take notes.
“Father's name on birth certificate.”
Hoo Tranh picked up the pen, his voice was not loud but was especially clear in the quiet room.
“Insert my name. Hoac Tranh.”
The whole room was silent. The notepad in Tieu Chau's hand almost fell to the ground.
"Doctor... Doctor Hoac..."
Tieu Chau stammered:
"That's not according to regulations. The pregnant woman just said..."
“She's not in her right mind.”
Hoac Tranh calmly said:
"I sign. If anything happens, I'm responsible."
“Hoo Tranh, you bastard!”
I swear and scold you:
“On what basis did you randomly enter your name?”
“Based on the fact that I am the brother listed in the husband section.”
He turned around and picked up the wrapped baby from the nurse's hands. Then come to my bed. He bent slightly, bringing the small red, wrinkled lump to my face. The girl closed her eyes and blew bubbles.
“Tran My Giai.”
Hoo Tranh pointed at the baby's face, his voice not hiding the mockery:
“Look at this nose and ears, they clearly look exactly like me, as if cast from the same mold.”
He leaned closer me, my eyes filled with pressure.
“Does your Kris look like this?”
3 I was wheeled into a one-person VIP hospital room. The environment is unbelievably good, even the sofas are made of genuine leather. You don't have to think to know that it was definitely arranged by Hoac Tranh. I lay in the hospital bed, weak as a puddle of mud. But the mind still operates at high speed. Escape. Be sure to wait until you can get out of bed and then immediately run away. While calculating, the hospital room door was suddenly pushed open.
"My Giai! My darling!"
My best friend Lam Duu rushed in aggressively, carrying a giant fruit basket in her hand.
"You scared me to death! Something as big as giving birth without even a word of warning!"
As soon as she finished speaking, her whole body stiffened in place. The fruit basket fell to the floor with a "thump" sound. Apples and tangerines rolled everywhere. Because she saw Hoac Tranh sitting next to my bed, using a warm towel to wipe my hands.
“Uncle... Doctor Hoac?!”
Lam Yu's chin almost fell to the ground. Hoac Tranh slowly put down the towel and nodded slightly:
"Miss Lam, long time no see."
Lam Duu looked at him, then looked at me. His eyes were full of questions: "What are you two doing?" I winked at her frantically. Quick! Play according to the script we agreed on! Lam Duu received my signal, took a deep breath and puffed out his chest.
"Doctor Hoac, what are you doing here? My Giai has a boyfriend! It's the handsome guy of Western Canadian heritage, Kris!"
I silently applauded. As expected of my best friend, important moments absolutely do not ruin things. Hoac Tranh said nothing. He slowly took out a stack of papers from the pocket of his white blouse. Then place it on the nightstand. I looked closely. All are train tickets and plane tickets. A thick stack, at least dozens of sheets.
“Lam Yu.”
Hoo Tranh leaned against the back of the chair, seemingly laughing:
“Are you cheating on me with her?”
Lam Duu swallowed his saliva, his momentum immediately weakened by half.
“She doesn't even know which direction the bar door opens.”
Hoo Tranh pointed at me:
“Where can I go to meet handsome foreign men?”
Lam Duu immediately betrayed.
“That's right, My Giai!”
Lam Duu pointed at my nose and scolded:
"You still get hiccups when you drink carbonated water, and go to the bar to order Vuong Tu milk? I told you the name Kris you made up is too absurd!"
Me: “???” Sister! We're on the same side!
“More.”
Hoac Tranh's long fingers gently tapped the stack of tickets.
“In the past eight months, from Dali to Lijiang, from Chengdu to Chongqing.”
“I moved cities three times and houses four times.”
“Tran My Giai, you're really good at running.”
