Chapter 3
Chapter 3 — The Rest Of Your Life Is Sweet
I shrank under the blanket, feeling guilty not daring to look at him. Over the past eight months, I have truly been like a fugitive, hiding everywhere. Unexpectedly, he was always following behind me. Lam Duu saw that the situation was not good and smiled wryly twice:
"Ah, I suddenly remembered that there was still stew in the pot. I'll go first! You two keep talking!"
After saying that, she immediately ran away, running faster than a rabbit. In the hospital room, there were only me and Hoac Tranh left. The atmosphere was so quiet that you could hear a pin drop. Hoac Tranh stood up and walked in front of me. He took out a small object from his shirt pocket. Gently place it on the stack of tickets.
“I searched for you for eight months and only found this.”
My eyes fell on the silver ring. That's the ring we made together in the craft workshop on our first anniversary. The inside is also engraved with my initials. The day I ran away was so hasty, I forgot it on the sink. Hoac Tranh looked at me with deep eyes and a hoarse voice.
"You left in a hurry."
4 Looking at that silver ring that had been polished to a shine, the self-pity in my heart immediately burst. Tears were like a broken string of pearls, falling down.
"Are you still pretending to be in love now?"
I picked up a pillow and threw it at him, crying until I couldn't breathe:
“Didn't you say stop it, it's not suitable!”
Hoo Tranh did not dodge, letting the pillow hit him. He frowned tightly, his eyes filled with surprise:
“When did I say that?”
“Eight months ago! Outside my office!”
I shouted regardless of everything:
"I heard it all! You called and said it wasn't compatible, and talked about children for later! It's obvious you don't want to take responsibility, you don't want to marry me!"
Hoo Tranh was stunned. He stared at me, like he was looking at an alien creature. Ten seconds passed. He suddenly raised his hands to cover his face, sighing helplessly.
“Tran My Giai, is your head full of water?”
He immediately turned around, strode to the sofa, and picked up his briefcase. After searching for a while. He placed some papers in front of me. I looked through tears. The first sheet is the diagnosis report of a brain aneurysm. The second sheet is a surgical risk notice. The third sheet is the call history for that day eight months ago. The caller's name is saved as…
“Mom.”
I was stunned. Forget crying.
“That day I called my mother.”
Hoo Tranh gritted his teeth, but his eyes turned red.
“She urged us to get married and have children.”
“But I just received the test results. The doctor said the surgery success rate is only sixty percent.”
He knelt on one knee beside the bed, keeping his eyes level with me. His voice trembled until he couldn't make a sound.
"I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to get off the operating table, afraid that it would involve you, so I told my mother to leave, we weren't compatible."
"It's absolutely not because I don't want to marry you, and it's not because I don't need you!"
My whole body was stunned. There's a buzz in my head. So you're not a bad man? Is it because I imagined a whole drama, then took your child and ran away for eight months?! My mind is literally like a sip of salted soda isn't enough to spit it out!
“You… why didn't you tell me?”
I stammered, tears welling up again.
“I plan to wait until the surgery is over just said.”
Hoo Tranh smiled bitterly:
“Who would have thought that as soon as I left the hospital, you would disappear. You didn't give me a chance to explain."
Looking at his skinny face, my heart hurts like it's being squeezed. Just when I was about to say something to save the situation. The hospital room door was suddenly pushed open with a "bang".
“Oh my good niece!”
A woman wearing a cheongsam, wearing a pearl necklace, with a noble aura rushed in aggressively. Hoac Tranh's mother. Hoac's mother pushed Hoac Tranh, who was blocking the way aside, and rushed directly to my bed. Her eyes were red, she held my hand and refused to let go.
“My Giai has suffered! This bastard got sick and didn't tell me, leaving me alone in fear for so long!”
After speaking, she took out a heavy red velvet box from her pocket. Opening it, inside is a pair of pure gold bracelets carved with dragon and phoenix images. Right after that, she put down a black card again.
“Daughter!”
Mother Hoac eloquently declared:
“This is money I compensate you for! The password is your child's date of birth! In the future, this kid dares to bully me, I'll break his bones!”
I was stunned by that atmosphere. This story... directly skips the love stage and enters the rich mother-in-law and daughter-in-law scenario? After delivering the things, Hoac's mother turned to look at her little granddaughter lying in the crib, laughing until she couldn't close her mouth. Hoac Tranh sighed helplessly. He knelt down next to the bed again. The hand with long, slender fingers gently covered the back of my cold hand. I don't know when the silver ring returned to my ring finger. He raised his head, his peachy eyes filled with deep affection and joy because his luck had not yet disappeared.
“My Giai.”
He held my hand tightly, his voice was as gentle as if it could squeeze out water.
"Now my illness has cured, and my child has been born."
“Do you agree to give me one more chance?”
5 Looking at the sparkling engagement ring that Hoo Tranh brought in front of me, my head made a "banging" sound, my heart beat so fast that it almost jumped out of my throat.
“Who... who wants to agree to my proposal! What is this, do you appreciate me?"
I pushed away his hand holding the ring. To hide my burning face, I turned around and began frantically packing things in the hospital room closet.
“I want to leave the hospital! Right away! Instantly! I don't want to stay in this terrible hospital any longer!"
