Chapter 4
Chapter 4 — Three Years of Patience, One Day of Flipping the Cards
Co Canh Tham gave me three days. I also gave myself three days. The next morning. Exactly eight o'clock. I appeared at the Co Group's office building. The receptionist girl still smiled at me familiarly. It's just that the smile is much paler than before. I went straight to the Planning department. Find Lam Kha Binh. The person who worked with me to prepare the bidding documents for the project to renovate the southern citadel last month. Just saw me. Her expression immediately became awkward. Reflexively, she glanced towards To Uyen Ninh's office. Then pulled me into the tea room.
“What are you doing here?”
She lowered her voice.
“Don't go to the company anymore these days.”
“Assistant To is very thoughtful of you.”
“I came to get my things.”
“There are still a few personal items in the drawer.”
“Then please take it quickly and go home.”
Lam Kha Binh rubbed his hands together. His face was full of awkwardness.
“There's something I don't know how to say.”
“Just say it.”
“During the project review meeting last week.”
“Mr. Gu praised Assistant To in front of the entire department.”
“He said that the bidding documents for the southern citadel were carried out by her.”
Lam Kha Binh bit his lip.
“That day I sat below.”
“Actually I want to speak up.”
“But then Assistant To found me.”
“She told me not to talk too much.”
“That said, it would be good for everyone.”
"I get it."
“I don't need pressure.”
“Doesn't sister-in-law blame me?”
“It has nothing to do with you.”
I opened my desk drawer. Take out your stuff. A notebook. Some pens. And a USB. Inside the USB is all the original data of the southern citadel bidding documents. Includes each edit. Each milestone. Each person operates. All are clearly recorded. I put the USB in my pocket. While passing by To Uyen Ninh's office. The door does not close completely. Through the door. The sound of her calling on the phone was heard outside.
“Canh Tham, please rest assured.”
“After that old man is beaten, he will definitely advise his daughter to be reasonable.”
“Tomorrow at the latest.”
“The divorce agreement will arrive soon.”
“By then you will be free.”
“Let's try to get married before the end of the year.”
“Yes, yes, yes.”
“I saw the house.”
“It's the big apartment in International City.”
“Let me worry about the decorations.”
“You just need to make money.”
She laughed very loudly. I don't stop walking. Go straight towards the elevator. Just waiting for the elevator. A voice suddenly rang out from behind.
“Stop.”
I turned around. To Uyen Ninh stepped forward with high heels. In his hand he also held a cup of coffee. The familiar arrogant smile still hung on his lips.
“Come to pick up your things?”
She evaluated me from top to bottom. His eyes deliberately stopped for half a second on the dinner jacket I had worn for two years.
“Once you get it, go away quickly.”
“If you have no business in the future, don't come to the company anymore.”
“Not a good influence.”
“What do I influence?”
“Are you still asking?”
“Someone about to get divorced like you hangs around the company every day.”
“What will others think?”
“Did you think you were going to mess with Canh Tham?”
She flipped her hair. The corners of his lips were full of contempt.
“Besides, you won't be qualified to step foot here in the future.”
“With someone as poor as you.”
“Don't say you should buy an office in this building.”
“Even the management fee of this building, you can't pay.”
The elevator arrives. As soon as the door opened, I stepped inside and reached out to press the button first floor.
“To Uyen Ninh.”
Right before the elevator door closed, I spoke up. She was turning around to leave. When she heard me call her name, she turned around.
“Your coffee cup is held upside down.”
“I think the cup lid is not closed tightly.”
To Uyen Ninh instinctively lowered her head and looked down. Coffee was leaking from the rim of the cup, following her white fingers down her white sleeve. The dark brown color is extremely eye-catching. Right at that moment. The elevator door closed. Just a very small thing. But seeing the panicked look on her face in that moment, I suddenly felt that today wasn't so bad. Day three. The deadline given by Co Canh Tham. That afternoon, I went to visit my father. The swelling on his face has almost disappeared. But the bruises are still there. He sat on the balcony reading the newspaper. Seeing me coming, he reached out and patted the chair next to him. I sat down.
“Co Canh Tham's divorce agreement... I plan to sign it.”
His hand holding the newspaper never stopped. He just turned to the next page.
“Have you thought it through?”
“What are the conditions?”
“He wants a three-seven ratio.”
“He is seven, the child is three.”
“But I don't take those three parts.”
The newspaper in my father's hand slowly lowered. He took off his newly changed glasses and looked at me.
“Are you going to leave empty-handed?”
He was silent for more than ten seconds. The wind on the balcony blew a few strands of gray hair around my temples. He stroked his hair behind his ear.
“I have my own plan.”
That's not the question. It's an affirmation.
“Then get to work.”
He put his glasses back on. Continue holding up the newspaper.
“There is an old saying.”
“What lies in the palm of my hand is truly mine.”
“What is in someone else's pocket, sooner or later belongs to someone else.”
I didn't reply. But I know. That statement is not talking about money.
